Rashid is just starting to find some rhythm and some consistent line and length. Vijay and Pujara are no mugs, though. They're experts at managing the turning ball and they are largely untroubled.

Our first look of Ben Stokes with ball in hand. He stormed off the pitch earlier, believing he'd been stuffed by the officials with his dismissal. Replays will surely have quelled some of that fury, but hopefully not all of it. India wouldn't like him when he's angry.
Unfortunately, this pitch is giving the seamers very little and it neuters the Durham man despite his best efforts.

Better from Rashid. Just short of a length, straight, forcing Vijay to focus on his defence after Pujara had scored two and one from the first two balls.

This 400 is a tremendous score for England but the spinners will have to get the ball in the right zone more consistently than they did before tea. There's plenty there for them.
Pujara 11, Vijay 34
I'm still trying to work out what that review was all about. I'm sure I'm not alone. Meanwhile, Ball charges in for his second over after tea. He finds a slightly better regular line but doesn't trouble Vijay, who drives for two off the last ball.

Ian B: Oh my eyes, answers on a postcard, absolutely pathetic review.
Ind 71-1
Pujara has padded one away, prompting huge shouts from the England field. Umpire says not out so we go upstairs. Impact is outside the line but with no shot offered it is all about if it is hitting. It's not, by a long way, which prompts the question: why review if Rashid knew it wasn't a wrong un?
Yes Rash. He stuffs Vijay with an absolute beauty that pitches on leg and beats the batsman before fizzing to slip. Goes to show there is enough there if Adil can find the right areas. If.

Virat is close to having a bat - the message has got out into town and the crowd is growing.
Ball starts. Pujara edges. Root dives and stops the ball on the bounce. The bowler then veers badly of line and concedes four leg byes down to fine leg.
He's generating good wheels, the big bowler, but his radar is all over the shop.
Cheers Amy. Yeah. Puns. Hit me with them. A few of you seem to have seized the Christmas song theme so let's run with that. If you have a cricket-themed Christmas song then send it to #bbccricket.
In other news, the players are back out for the final session.
Right, that's all from me. I'll leave you all with Phil Dawkes. There's a man who loves a good pun.

England Lions coach Andy Flower on an England top four of Alastair Cook, Haseeb Hameed, Keaton Jennings and Joe Root: "That would be a strong possibility. They've got two really good finds there - Hameed is a beautiful young player and Jennings has shown a glimpse of what he might be capable of at the highest level. With Root at four, that sounds like a powerful top four."

England did quite well after lunch, easing their score up to 400. India have not looked in any trouble. Rahul has played a poor shot - he got cocky - play the ball the way it's turning. It is nicely balanced. We are not really into who's ahead yet. It won't be until tomorrow than we'll be clearer about who's ahead.
A bit of news about umpire Paul Reiffel, who was struck on the head yesterday in the field. He will take no further part in the match, having been advised to rest. Marais Erasmus will continue for the rest of the Test.

There are many things to like about Moeen, but the look of utter concentration on his face as he jogs in is my favourite. Tongue between his teeth, eyes concentrated on the batsmen. There's a half-hearted appeal for an lbw against Vijay as he presses forward, but there was a big bit of bat involved. After a bit of looking around, everyone wanders off for tea. Not a bad session for either side there, but both these batsmen have made centuries in this series and England will be wary about the damage they could do.
