It is beautiful variations that Aswhin has. What a day India have had but you've got to give England credit for the way they've played.

  3. wicket

    Ball c Patel b Ashwin 2 (Eng 182-6)

The day's play ends aptly with Indian celebrations as a full ball from Ashwin takes the thinnest of edges off Ball's bat before being claimed by the keeper.

  4. Eng 182-5published at 47 overs

Jadeja whips through his over - a maiden - to ensure we get another. Ball repeats the previous over - five dots and a single, to keep strike for what will surely be the last of the day.

Five men around Ball now, not including the keeper. The nightwatchman stands tall, though, literally and metaphorically. He keeps strike for the last over with a single.

Matt Ramstead: The England selectors need replacing as well, too much muddled thinking and an obsession with all-rounders.

  7. Eng 180-5published at 45 overs

    Ball 0, Bairstow 50

No taking the game to India now. England are firmly in survival mode. Jadeja rips the ball at Bairstow, who leaves well and is firm in his forward defence. two overs to go.

Mark Russell: I suspect if Bairstow hits a six, the Indian wicketkeeper would appeal for obstructing the field.

We have a nightwatchman. Jake Ball comes out. Ashwin has Kohli excited at slip with a ball that beats the bat and draws a stumping but Ball never moved his back foot.

    Stokes c Vijay b Ashwin 18 (Eng 180-5)

It is indeed out. Stokes is a bit unlucky but that is the way it goes. That is a blow to England's already slim hopes of getting something from this game.

This looks out. It is on the field as a reverse-sweeping Stokes is trapped on the pad by Ashwin.

    England would grab 120 now.

    Bairstow 49, Stokes 18

Jadeja returns for one last go at this pair. Bairstow works him through square leg for two before handing over to Stokes, who survives a big appeal after being caught on the back leg. Wasn't far away.

It's been so entertaining. It's full-scale attack from England - reverse sweeps, lap slogs, dancing down the pitch. Full credit to them - they've had a real good go in the second innings. They've done the right thing, putting a few men on the boundary by playing shots.

Stokes is playing Ashwin well. He's been dismissed by him three times this series but is digging in now to combat some fierce spin. One full ball on middle absolutely stuffs him, purely because of the ludicrous amounts of turn.

I imagine India's appealing is going to attract the attention of the match referee. I know it's exciting, but you're not allowed to do that.

Does Bayliss know what he's doing? The selection of Hales, Vince, Ansari & Batty and the recall of Ballance suggests otherwise.

You know it is a bunsen when first slip starts taking them. Jayant gets a short ball to rip massively away from Stokes.

After exchanging a couple of singles with Bairstow, the Durham man gets away with a gloved reverse sweep that loops over slip.

Ben Laycock: Umpire looks annoyed @jbairstow21, external reviewed it! Terrible decision...needs the red card himself.

Andrew Reyes: That is why Batsman shouldn't waste reviews early in the innings. Oxenford is having a shocker.
