Thanks Stephan, I think. Not the most glowing introduction I've ever heard, but he has the world weary exterior of an England bowler on a subcontinent tour of unresponsive pitches. So the first session produced 72-1 in 27 overs at a rate of 2.67 and that last one saw 119 runs for no loss in 30 overs at 3.97. Are we going to see some fireworks to set up a declaration? Let's see. We have 33 overs to get through, so those Crickety Christmas ideas will have to start rolling in please. #bbccricket Text 81111 or email @tms.co.uk

Well bowled by Dawson but in a way not want they want to see. The match has gone sort of predictably, a lot of runs have been added, the lead has been established and the draw is England's best option, so they don't want to see the ball turning.

The ICC has announced the schedule, external for the Women's World Cup Qualifier, which takes place in Sri Lanka between 7 and 21 February.

Ireland are in Group A with India, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe and Thailand, while Scotland are in Group B with South Africa, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Papua New Guinea.

The top four teams from the Qualifier will join Australia, England, New Zealand and West Indies in the Women's World Cup in England next summer.

As far as I can tell, England have only ever lost an away series 4-0 in Australia. Over the next four sessions, that statistic will come under a serious threat.

Karun was looking a little tired there so the interval gives him a chance to have a cup of tea and to get to his 200 afterwards. I thought Stokes bowled well and Jennings at the end looked the most likely to get a wicket. If we'd been a little more accurate we could have saved 30 runs but criticism is difficult in these conditions.

That's tea. A glorious 20-minute respite for an England team that has been fielding for about three weeks.

You're kidding. It's doing too much. Jennings has got the ball to tail in, hitting Ashwin on the front pad, but it's carrying on past the leg stump. It's scant consolation, but Jennings has created more problems that any other England bowler today.

I think he's been so good, Jennings, I'd keep him on after tea with the new ball and I think the other seamers would agree.

Keaton Jennings has a wicket! Or does he? Up goes the finger, but Ravichandran Ashwin isn't having it. The lbw looked very good at first glance...

Jonny Bairstow's dad, although he was a wicketkeeper himself too, was one of the hardest bowlers I ever faced in the nets, he was a fast medium dwarf and he could make it move.

Moeen twinkles his beard into Nair. There's Bairstow and the umpire, but everyone else is grazing in the outfield. There's one over to go before tea, with 33 to come after that. If India go some for 10 or 15 after the break, they could be 170+ ahead. Then they will release the hounds. The third new ball is now available.

I think they will try and get 150 ahead and maybe get 10 overs at England tonight. They can get out in trying to score quickly but I'd be surprised if England are not batting by tonight.

Where has Keaton Jennings been for the last 160 overs? He's got Karun Nair on toast here. First in was the lbw shout, now it's an inside edge past the stumps. He's continuing the fine tradition of Durham batsmen who bowl handy medium pace for England. See 'Collingwood, Paul'.

In fact, you can't help but admire Jonny Bairstow's energy. "Come on, lads. A double from Buttler and a triple from Root." He must be very annoying to play against. Or sit next to on a long car journey. In my experience, most wicketkeepers are pretty annoying. There are 10 minutes to go until tea.

Bob Holness Jr: Another defeat beckons. Very poor captaincy by Cook this series, however I don't think the result would have changed.

Some excellent club-level chat from Jonny Bairstow behind the stumps. "Get him out yet again," he cries as Keaton Jennings trundles in to Nair. By my reckoning Nair has today edged through the slips and been fortunate to survive appeals for caught behind and lbw. Then again, none of that would have mattered if Alastair Cook had caught him last night.
