Thomas: The theme of this tour seem to be that the captains have been getting the blame for the poor bowling of the spinners.

Chris: The only difference between these sides in the Test series was home advantage. Exactly the same in this match.

    Need 12 runs to win

Ashwin was probably a better bet up the order than Jadeja - he's doing exactly what's required, calmly hitting ones and twos to chip away at this total.

Just 12 runs and India are home. They've hardly ever been behind the asking rate. A masterful chase.

  3. Ind 335-7published at 46.1 overs

Another short ball. Another wide. India need 16 runs from 23 balls.

India have done brilliantly to get to this position and they just have to see it home now. There is nothing in the pitch for the bowlers. Somehow England have to conjure a wicket.

  5. Ind 334-7published at 46 overs

    Target 351

This is better from Ashwin than Jadeja's jumpy innings - playing the ball on merit to work two and put Pandya on strike for the next over.

This would be the joint fourth-highest run chase in ODI history by the way.

  6. Ind 329-7published at 45.2 overs

A colleague on the cricket desk said a few overs back that this was turning into a bit of a beating for England (OK, he didn't use the word beating but use your imagination).

It's maybe not quite in that category after a couple of wickets but India have almost ridiculed the tourists at times in this chase - Pandya the latest to do so with a sumptuous late glance through third man for four.

  7. Ind 325-7published at 45 overs

    Need 26 runs to win

Very muddled thinking from Jadeja there - can his spin twin R Ashwin deliver?

He doesn't have to if Hardik Pandya plays more shots like this - a gorgeous cover drive off Ball that slams across the boundary rope.

Jake Ball's short ball has been effective today - three wickets from him now and a wonderful bit of bowling.

    Jadeja c Rashid b Ball 13 (Ind 319-6)

...but with a wicket, England might still be in this.

India were getting a bit jumpy out there and it translates into Jadeja's horrid miscue off Jake Ball, which Adil Rashid gratefully holds on to.

    Another twist.

  10. Ind 318-6published at 44 overs

    Target 351

A tidy over from Stokes, with only four coming off it.

But without a wicket India are firmly in control.

If Stokes had gathered that and taken down the stumps, that would have been out. England aren't taking their opportunities.

  12. Ind 315-6published at 43.1 overs

For the second time in two overs, Moeen Ali has the chance of a run out as India needlessly panic.

The first led to overthrows after Jason Roy's misfield, this time Stokes can't collect Moeen's throw...

England need wickets - that's the only way you're going to get dot balls.

  14. Ind 314-6published at 43 overs

    Jadeja 12, Pandya 16

They don't need boundaries, but they'll take them if presented - Jake Ball drops short again and Jadeja pulls him in front of square for four.

The short ball has brought some wickets today but leaked a lot of runs.

Sloppy fielding won't help either, an overthrow boosting India's cause. Sloppy bowling is even worse as Ball bowls a wide. A single to end and nine off the over.

England are in hail mary territory here.

If India don't lose wickets, there is likely to be only one result. England have to go for it. There is no way they are going to defend this, one feels.

  16. Ind 305-6published at 42 overs

    Target 351

Eoin Morgan finally gambles and brings back a spinner, turning to Moeen Ali.

A dab into the legside for one from Jadeja brings up the 300.

India don't need to go all out for boundaries here - both batsmen happy to work Moeen around and rotate the strike.

Ian: Only missing by a foot, hit above the bails and rising, utterly inept review.

  18. Ind 299-6published at 41 overs

A wasteful review from England really - maybe more tactical to slow the game down than anything else.

It looked too high and duly was. A dot ball to end the over.

  19. Umpire reviewpublished at 40.5 overs

Lovely from Ravindra Jadeja, nothing wrong with Stokes' delivery but a delicately-timed back-foot push finds the fence.

Stokes then appeals for an lbw shout against Jadeja...

  20. Ind 291-6published at 40 overs

    Target 351

The equation is simple for India - 60 runs from 60 balls.

It's simple for England too - four wickets to win.

Into the last 10 overs. Here we go...
