Jadhav reminds me of Aravinda de Silva in his method. He pulls and cuts half-volleys.

    Dhoni 104, Jadhav 5

I did wonder if the wicket of Yuvraj had helped England, that Jadhav might need a little while to get going. How foolish of me. A late cut to the boundary off the pace of Plunkett is more delicate that the touch of a surgeon.

England need to stay calm and phlegmatic. They know India are going to get a huge score but they also know it's possible to chase it.

  4. Ind 290-4published at 43.3 overs

Silly cricket. Liam Plunkett oversteps, free hit. Dhoni swings himself off his feet and loses his off stump. The result? Four byes.

Good news for England. Kedar Jadhav, a ton in the last game, is the new man.

It was a magnificent display from Yuvraj. Some of the shots he played were effortless and majestic in equal measure.

    Yuvraj c Buttler b Woakes 150 (Ind 281-4)

Finally. Finally. Finally England have a wicket and obviously it's Chris Woakes. The end of Yuvraj Singh, one of the greatest one-day knocks you will ever see. A big drive is edged through to Jos Buttler. The partnership of 256 is the second biggest for the fourth wicket in the history of ODIs. Quite brilliant stuff.

A century for MS Dhoni! Was he dropped by Alex Hales? It would have been a worldie. A hook to deep square, a diving Hales didn't quite get there. A 10th ton for Dhoni in ODIs. This pair came together at 25-3...

  10. 6 runs

    Ind 280-3published at 42.2 overs

Never mind, the next ball is massive. Over long-on, nearly out of the ground. 200 ODI sixes for Dhoni. He's on 99...

  11. Ind 274-3published at 42.1 overs

You're kidding! England get away with one and MS Dhoni is denied a maximum. A full-bunger from Woakes is helped towards the crowd, only to hit the wires of the overheard camera. Dead ball given.

It's a big series for Ben Stokes, because it's a shop window for the IPL. He can improve his chances of attracting a big bid.

  13. 150 runs

150 for Yuvraj Singhpublished at 42 overs

    Ind 274-3

Yet another milestone for Yuvraj Singh, who has racked up the highest score by an India batsman in an ODI against England. A raise of the bat, a punch of the air. Don't rule out that double ton, there's plenty of time. Good from Ben Stokes, too. Only six singles from the set.

That was a fair over from Woakes - seven off it. Any over under 10 from here is a good over for England.

  15. Not outpublished at 41 overs

    Ind 267-3

Definite bump ball, sending Cuttack into delirium. Yuvraj was reaching for a wide one and angled a full toss into the ground, with Jos Buttler taking the 'catch'. Still only seven off Chris Woakes' over, though. He has been as brilliant as the rest of the pace attack have been poor.

It looked like he might have hit the ball into the ground - the decision here is going to be overturned.

This is an excellent way to turn silence into noise. When Yuvraj is given out caught behind off Woakes, Cuttack is crestfallen. As soon as he reviews, the roars comes again. Bump ball?

Yuvraj Singh is very regal in the way he plays his strokes. It's been truly wonderful to watch him in action.

  19. Ind 261-3published at 40 overs

    Last 5 overs: 53-0

To be fair to Ben Stokes, he is trying to get some yorkers in here. The baffling part is the field - fine leg and third man up in the ring. That doesn't really matter when Yuvraj is lofting straight sixes, mind. 143 is Yuvi's highest ODI score, with the noise now turned up to Spinal Tap's 11. It's been a quite incredible knock, an exhibition of strokeplay, timing and hitting. He could get a double ton.

It's just short-ball batting practice for Yuvraj Singh. How many has he faced in this innings? He's put them away every single time and that one went away from the middle of the screws.
