Andrew Reyes: Moeen Ali seriously needs to do serious work vs the short ball before the Champions Trophy and the SA test series

    Stokes 21, Woakes 5

It's getting dark. Shadow has blanketed the entire ground. The lights are just taking effect. India have pounded back of a length, never getting too full. England should take note. Chris Woakes, replacing Moeen, gets going with a pull off Pandya for four. Pandya takes his cap with figures of 10-1-49-3. Quite brilliant.

Again, a similar situation. India haven't had to do much to get that wicket. They recognised that Moeen was struggling for the extra pace and the short ball so they dug it in again and got the wicket.

    Moeen c Jadeja b Bumrah 2 (Eng 246-6)

Real trouble for England here as Moeen Ali falls in familiar fashion. An attempted pull at a Jasprit Bumrah short ball is ragged, with a top edge clonking him on the helmet and carrying to Ravi Jadeja at point. A big, big danger of not having nearly enough.

Peterfeet: Too many pretty 40s or 50s and out as usual.England lost the game already. No way they can win from here.

Richard Barter: Great to see the England of old come back. Don't think they're going to get to 300...

  6. Eng 239-5published at 42 overs

    Pandya 9-1-42-3

Moeen Ali the new man, immediately into a tangle against a Pandya bumper. These are tricky times for England - one more wicket could see them fall short of something competitive.

India are jubilant because they are being gifted these wickets. England have got themselves out. It is not good enough in terms of that ruthless attitude they talk about.

    Bairstow c Jadeja b Pandya 56 (Eng 237-5)

Hardik Pandya does it again! He's got 3-12 in four and a half overs and he's removed another set batsman. This time it's Jonny Bairstow, who makes room to cut and only finds a diving Ravi Jadeja at point. It's been an English disease during this series to lose wickets at key moments.

  9. Eng 235-4published at 41 overs

It's been pointed out that England have a middle order that is very susceptible to the sun - Bairstow, Morgan and Stokes. Having said that, Stokes has got most of his arms covered in ink. Nine to go, 320-330 is looking likely.

Stokes in the mood. Down the track to hit Ashwin's first ball over long-on. He's got 13 off nine.

Bairstow is the man. At this stage it needs someone to bat deep into this 50 overs and have someone at the other end like Stokes pounding it.

  12. Eng 225-4published at 40 overs

Ben Stokes wields the willow like a Musketeer looking for the killer thrust of the sword. When Pandya is too short, Stokes swats the ball off the back foot through the covers with the flourish of a man conducting an orchestra. I'd happily watch him bat for the next half and hour or so.

Will Maddock: When Buttler's in form, that flies through the gap for 4 and we all call him a genius. Funny old game.

  14. 50 runs

50 for Jonny Bairstowpublished at 39 overs

    Eng 220-4

What an incredible way to reach a half-century. Jonny Bairstow shows double-jointed wrists to sweep Ashwin for four and complete a third ODI fifty. He's only playing because Joe Root has got a sore groin, but he's doing the business.

It was a wide delivery that should have been smashed to the boundary. It is another soft dismissal for England. Pretty much every England wicket has been soft.

  16. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 38 overs

    Buttler c Rahul b Pandya 11 (Eng 212-4)

No doubt about this one. Jos Buttler gives catching practice to extra cover and England continue to lose wickets at key moments. Nothing more than a wide half-volley from Hardik Pandya, but Buttler slaps it straight to KL Rahul. Pandya's current spell is 3-0-5-2.

That is a very good review from Jonny Bairstow. As a batsman you know when you have hit it.

Very, very good review. Replays show the ball hit the trouser pocket. I'd be a poor umpire.

I've given this. Jonny Bairstow, swiping at Hardik Pandya. Caught behind? Bairstow reckons it's hit his thigh pad.
