This is a very good recovery from England. They started brightly and then lost wickets. But this is a pretty good score.

  3. Eng 311-6published at 49 overs

Good comeback from Bumrah, who nails the yorkers. Only two from the final three balls. One to go.

  4. Eng 309-6published at 48.3 overs

6-4-4. Woakes flying. Knowing that Bumrah has to go full, he clears the front leg and goes through cover, then point.

  5. 6 runs

    Eng 301-6published at 48.1 overs

This time it's too short from Bumrah. A Woakes top-edge flies for six. 300 up, 50 partnership in 31 balls.

Very well batted. He opened the face of the bat at the last moment when he saw the yorker coming. Kumar has bowled yorkers well, hence just the one boundary to take Stokes to 50.

  7. 50 runs

50 for Ben Stokespublished at 48 overs

    Eng 295-6

England finally get one through, Ben Stokes flaying a wide one to get to a 34-ball half-century. That's his eighth in ODIs. Still work to do, mind.

  8. Eng 287-3published at 47.3 overs

Kumar picks up on the two-length tactic. Two overs since England found the boundary.

Why, with all the advanced technology used in modern cricket, has no-one thought of employing red/green traffic lights to dissuade people walking in front of the sight-scene when the bowling is from that end?

  10. Eng 284-6published at 47 overs

That's a good over from Bumrah - no boundary conceded. Ben Stokes can't believe it, like a man who has just dropped his phone in the toilet.

Jonathan Paice: England are in danger of getting the most ever total runs in a series loss here.

  12. Eng 281-6published at 46.3 overs

Chris Woakes is swinging like a rusty gate. Bumrah has two lengths - short and full. England are covering the ground between the wickets. Two rapid twos.

That is exactly the kind of over England want. They probably need each of the last four overs to be 20 each to give them the score they need.

  14. Eng 277-6published at 46 overs

Still Stokes runs towards the bowler, a man sprinting towards the fire. 14 from the over - the most in the innings. 310+ back on.

Not even close to carrying. I spotted that from Salford. How did the umpires miss it?

The Indians are not looking very excited about this. Kumar is more animated but then he has just been hit for 10 runs.

It must be terrifying to bowl to Ben Stokes. He's almost sprinting towards Kumar here. With a his bat raised. It's like seeing a wild-eyed warrior charge at you with a club. What's this about? An edge behind? Surely this hasn't carried?

  18. 6 runs

    Eng 269-6published at 45.1 overs

Bhuvi who? Kumar back, Stokes dancing to hammer over long-on for a maximum.

If you are going to bowl the ball short you have to get your direction right. If you bowl it to the back shoulder where he has to fetch it you have more chance to get the wicket.

  20. Eng 263-6published at 45 overs

    Stokes 29, Woakes 6

Even eights an over only gets England to 300 at the minute. Tens is 310/320 - par. Luckily for England, Jasprit Bumrah's death bowling has been bobbins in this series, and a lollipop bouncer is pulled around the corner by Stokes for four. The slight issue is that trickster Bhuvneshwar Kumar can bowl three of the last five if Kohli wishes.
