Centuries from Alex Hales and Joe Root allowed England to post a commanding 328, a total that the West Indies were never really going to get near. But a dreadful start, the opening batsman playing lazy shots, put them on the back foot instantly. England's seamers were excellent from the get-go, but they will face tougher challenges over the summer.

WICKET - ENGLAND WIN BY 186 RUNSpublished at 39.2 overs

    Bishoo c Roy b Rashid 10 (WI 142)

And that is that. Devendra Bishoo takes aim and ends up swatting it straight to Jason Roy. A convincing series victory for England, over a pretty poor West Indies side.

  3. WI 141-9published at 39 overs

    Plunkett 8-2-27-3

Joseph follows up that six with an aerial drive that flies over Chris Woakes' head for four, before a big swing and a miss brings about a wry grin from Liam Plunkett. He's displaying all the shots in his locker, pulling lustily for a single, before Devendra Bishoo defends the final ball of the over. That draws cheers from the crowd, who'd clearly prefer to see Joseph take on the next over.

That's a big man shot, as we say in the Caribbean.

That is massive from Alzarri Joseph. Absolutely massive. He watches Liam Plunkett bang the ball in and then heaves it, with utter distaste, over mid-wicket for six. Made a cracking noise off the bat, too.

  6. WI 128-9published at 38 overs

Here's Adil Rashid, who might be able to tidy things up quickly. The googly almost beats Alzarri Joseph but an inside edge saves him, before a big mow picks him up a single. I like Joseph's approach of hit it, and hit it hard. He picks out the fielder though to keep it to just four from the over.

That is the worst throw you have ever seen by Alex Hales. 20 yards away and he somehow missed the 6 foot 5 inch frame of Liam Plunkett.

  8. WI 124-9published at 37 overs

    Plunkett 7-2-14-3

It takes some skill to chuck the ball over your six foot tall team-mate, but Alex Hales has managed it. Alzarri Joseph is halfway up the pitch, it should be a simple run-out for Hales, and he ends up lobbing the ball harmleslly over Liam Plunkett's head. Plunkett and Eoin Morgan look thoroughly miffed, while Hales wisely avoids eye contact. Devendra Bishoo then adds insult to injury with a lovely punch through the covers for four.

  9. WI 119-9published at 36 overs

Alzarri Joseph is not going to hang around. He has an almighty swipe at his first delivery from Steven Finn, and misses. That's an absolutely gorgeous shot, though. Straight back, pushed off the back foot and that's away for a boundary. That's the end of Steven Finn. He finishes with nice figures of 10-1-35-2.

I feel for Carter because he's done all the hard work today. He's been set up by England with the short ball.

Ah. There's the short ball from Steven Finn, Jonathan Carter can't resist taking it on and Ben Stokes in the deep hardly has to move to catch the ball. That's a real shame for Carter, who has been the only West Indies batsman to offer up any real resistance today.

Jim McGrath : Can someone remind the skipper that Rashid's on the field, please....?!

    Plunkett 6-2-9-3

Liam Plunkett is back into the attack and Jonathan Carter follows the age old adage that if you're gonna swing, then swing hard. A short ball gets pulled for two before a slower delivery, short again, spoons up towards Jason Roy but drops just short. England clearly don't fancy Carter against the short ball but he's dealt with it well so far.

Every two or three years West Indies find themselves in a rebuilding cycle, which falls apart at some point. Then they start again. It's depressingly repetitive to see how they've gone. It's almost like it's not a challenge for England anymore.

  15. WI 104-8published at 34 overs

    Carter 42, Bishoo 2

Steven Finn is back and Devendra Bishoo ends up half-ducking his first delivery as it snorts up into his ribs. A good over from Finn ends up a little off-target as a short ball is called a wide, but there's nothing in there for the West Indies to hit.

I'm with you, Jake. It's not nice to see a side go down so meekly. Having said that, Jonathan Carter spies Chris Woakes' slower ball and launches it back over his head for a boundary. That's a lovely shot - it made a cracking noise off the bat. That brings up the 100 for the West Indies.

Jake Organ : Shame to see the West Indies like this. I grew up on the great Windies side of the 80's and they inspired us boys to play.

Susan Ruth Gittins : I suffered many years of seeing The Windies roll England over so makes a nice change for the reverse to happen.

Iain Chambers: I've tickets for the t20 against Windies in the Summer. Doubt they'll last the 20 overs...

Ben Stokes, presumably cheered up after a bit of refreshment, carries on around the wicket. Meanwhile in the outfield, Alex Hales is whirling his arm around as though he fancies a bit of a bowl. That's a much tighter over from Stokes, and it'll be a maiden.

It's been desperate going for the West Indies. I've also noticed the music has changed as the mood has changed - it started off with West Indian calypso music. Now it's pure English house music.
