Here is the last wicket to fall, Andile Phehlukwayo going for the sweep and misjudging it slightly.

He gave himself room and used his wrists to accelerate. Great timing. England do need to wrap this up. They've done all the hard work but these two can be dangerous.

  3. SA 266-8published at 44 overs

    Target 340

Four more! It's Rabada this time, on one knee and swinging nicely to glide Moeen over mid-wicket. Moeen grimaces and then tightens his line up, bowling a little fuller, which is going well until Rabada absolutely carts him for six! That's a glorious shot! He gave himself a bit of width and just hammered the ball into the stand.

I think Eoin Morgan has rotated the bowlers really well. They have kept changing up on a pitch that's not easy to take wickets. South Africa bowled quite long spells.

  5. SA 253-8published at 43 overs

    Plunkett 9-0-42-1

Plunkett is back, fellow pace bowler Parnell in his eyeline. He pokes at a slower ball that just avoids the top edge of the bat, before a good old fashioned slog drops in front of the fielder at third man. That's better though, Parnell freeing his arms and hoicking Plunkett back over his head for four.

  6. SA 245-8 (target 340)published at 42 overs

    Rabada 5, Parnell 11

Moeen will continue and Parnell gets plenty of oomph behind a reverse sweep and it's away for four. Ben Stokes, meanwhile, is chuntering furiously to himself down at long off. That dropped catch is staying with him.

It's been a decent day for Moeen. First Chris Morris fell, attempting a fairly awkward looking reverse sweep...

And then it was the big scalp of ABdV...

  7. SA 236-8published at 41 overs

Joe Root is going to have a twirl with ten overs to go, because why not? Parnell heaves him up towards long-off but the ball bounces just in front of Plunkett, who parries it away from the boundary and back to the bowler. A quick over from Root and just a couple from it.

Stokes did the hard work and got around, and almost ran past it.

  9. dropped catch

Parnell dropped on 1published at 39.1 overs

    SA 231-8

Ben Stokes has dropped a catch! Wayne Parnell smacked the ball flat and hard towards long-off and Stokes has shelled it. It was going fast but Stokes got into position, then ended up falling backwards and letting the ball roll out of his hands.

He just got a little bit too straight with his front leg. Good from Rashid because he's managed to get a little bit of turn.

    WICKETpublished at 39 overs

    Phehlukwayo b Rashid 4 (SA 230-8)

Well, that one's definitely out! Phehlukwayo gets down to sweep and Rashid sneaks the ball past him and it patters into the stumps. Phehlukwayo gets up from his knees with a look of resignation. That's Adil Rashid's work done for the day with figures of 10-0-69-2.

  12. Not outpublished at 38.3 overs

    SA 225-7

Pitching outside leg. Rod Tucker shakes his arms around. Not out.

Hello, we're going upstairs. England reckon Adil Rashid has got new man Phehlukwayo out lbw...

Here's where the rot started to set in for South Africa; these two dismissals are pretty similar.

First up, JP Duminy, facing Adil Rashid...

And then not long after, David Miller thought he'd have a go at beating the man down in the deep.

Moeen has done well. The pressure he applied to Parnell got that wicket. I think Moeen saw De Villiers coming and dragged it down a little bit. It was a fairly regulation catch but it was up there long enough for Plunkett to think 'this is De Villiers, if I catch this we probably win'.

  17. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 37.5 overs

    De Villiers c Plunkett b Moeen 45 (SA 225-7)

Gone! AB de Villiers has swung hard at Moeen but Liam Plunkett comes charging in from deep mid-wicket - again - to cling on to the catch. That's a good catch; it was going high and hard, and I make that the third catch that's gone to that particular area. Game over?

When the ball came flying towards him, this spectator had visions of glory. And, er, it didn't quite turn out like that...

  19. SA 224-6published at 37 overs

    De Villiers 45, Parnell 0

Woakes will unsurprisingly continue and that's a delightful shot from De Villiers, pulling him over mid-wicket for four. And now he's on the charge, flat-batting and twirling the bat above his head as he finds the boundary again. Glorious.

Modern batsman can do anything they like but Morris had just played this orthodox, crunching straight drive for four and then he goes for the reverse squat. Morris is a dangerous man but he couldn't work the magic today. Moeen has done a good job here, England are favourites but no team is safe with De Villiers is still at the crease.
