It was a really ugly shot, trying to go with the swing. It's absolutely plumb.
Rabada 1-4, Parnell 1-4
Skipper Eoin Morgan comes to the crease and there are four slips in place. It's like the West Indies from the 1980s. Morgan away with a rather fortuitous inside edge to fine-leg for a single.
Root lbw b Parnell 2 (Eng 7-2)
A hush descends as Root, who had got off the mark with a neat push for two through the covers, plays across the line to left-arm seamer Wayne Parnell and departs. No thought of a review. Seems like a good toss to win.
Rabada 1-4
Test captain and general golden boy Joe Root is the new man. He was run out at the non striker's end in that terrible fashion by a deflection from the bowler last time out.

If Bairstow gets runs here, do you move him up top? It's an option...
Phil Tufnell
Ex-England spinner on BBC Test Match Special
Good delivery by Rabada - a sort of classic Test match delivery, outside the off stump, and it got that movement. Roy will be disappointed again. He's the one person England will have been wanting to get those runs, with the Champions Trophy coming up.
Roy c Amla b Rabada 4 (Eng 4-1)
Was just writing that Jason Roy needs a score, having made only nine in the first two matches. He flicked a nice boundary off his pads to the mid-wicket boundary but then edged the next one to first slip.

England must keep things going and not take their foot off the gas - stuff them 3-0.
Big Morne is out there limbering up - I wouldn't fancy seeing him charging in towards me - but it will be the lithe figure of Kagiso Rabada who will take the first over from the Nursery End.

There's obviously concern for Ben Stokes... but he played football this morning. I'm pretty sure it's all precautionary.
Poor old South Africa have a bit of a history of failing to get over the line but it seemed as though they were certain to level the series at Southampton on Saturday didn't it? They needed 10 from 10 balls with five wickets intact - the proverbial cakewalk in the modern age - but England paceman Mark Wood - rested today - conceded only four singles in the final over.
Now it may get a bit attritional in those middle overs so we need your help. Whether it's styles of kits, missing events for cricket, if you went to the same school as someone famous - or any other matters vaguely relating to what we're doing - then please let us know. Matt Taylor from BBC Weather: "Immensely difficult forecast to get completely right. There are a few spots around but it's really from lunchtime to mid-afternoon where showers could intervene and there is a risk of thunderstorms."
What do you make of the kits? Both teams have this tie-dye-esque effect that at first glance resemble something from Camden Market. England are in the navy, flushed with red and South Africa in Bognor Regis Town (of the National League South) green with yellow splodges, rather like tomato stains - a sore subject in my household.

Spinner Imran Tahir is a big loss for the South Africans today. He is unwell, we hear.
South Africa captain AB de Villiers: "It should be a good cricket wicket, it feels hard. The stats show there's something in it for the first 15 overs, and that's when we want to do some damage. It's important to come out and put in a good performance today after the last two games. We do come in with a bit of confidence because we haven't played too badly but we do need a win."

Dukkhaboy: Imagine paying £60-100 for a ticket at the cricket to find out on the day England & South Africa were putting out A teams.
Well we're going to see Morkel and Rabada charging in to Roy and Hales in a moment, with Root, Morgan, Buttler and Bairstow to come, so it's not all bad. And beats a Bank Holiday traffic jam surely?
