  3. Watch: Alex Hales becomes England's fourth wicketpublished at 11:43 British Summer Time 29 May 2017

He may have opened the batting with Roy, but Hales only faced two balls before finding an edge.

Rabada bowls that carrot dangling length. In fact, a lot of the balls have been there to be driven. You have to give Rabada a huge amount of credit. It's skillful.

  5. Eng 28-6published at 7 overs

    Bairstow 3, Willey 4

A relatively uneventful over for once. England are deciding not to go after them outside the off stump now and that tactic is being cheered by the crowd, who want to be here for a bit longer than a couple of hours.

Simon Goodall‏: I didn't realise the entire England team wanted to watch the play-off final.

Gary Vinten‏: No matter what form England are in, they still LOVE a batting collapse.

Po‏: Oh dear! You have to feel for the people who have paid a lot of money to watch a capitulation of epic proportions.

So far, they've played dumb cricket today. They've all got out playing the same kind of strokes. Now and again, you just need a reminder, as a team. It's not going to cost them much but you just hope it doesn't affect them going into the tournament.

  8. Eng 28-6published at 6 overs

    Rabada 4-12, Parnell 2-16

Oh sporting crowds, they love an ironic cheer. A defensive shot from Bairstow back to the bowler is greeted to a rapturous ovation. Nice to be able to report an over without a wicket, but Willey was fortunate when his thick edge flew between the slip cordon and gully for four.

I'd start eating your sandwiches and drinking your champagne if you're in the crowd, otherwise you might not have time to unwrap them...

  12. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 5 overs

    Rashid c Du Plessis b Rabada 0 (Eng 20-6)

Erm. Sorry. It's another one. Virtually the same dismissal. Full and wide, Rashid has a dart and Du Plessis takes a neat catch low at second slip.

  13. Watch: Joe Root becomes the second early wicket to fallpublished at 11:30 British Summer Time 29 May 2017

We're out of sequence here but they are happening so fast. Steven Finn signs some autographs on the boundary but he will need to get his pads on.

    Ed Smith
Ex-England batsman on BBC Test Match Special

That was a tough catch. Buttler has thrown his hands through the shot and it went high and fast to Du Plessis, but he made no mistake.

  15. Watch: Eoin Morgan becomes the third wicket to fallpublished at 11:29 British Summer Time 29 May 2017

It seems a while ago now but here is the wicket of Eoin Morgan.

  16. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 4.5 overs

    Buttler c Du Plessis b Rabada 4 (Eng 20-5)

Well. That's five wickets down and the time is 11:27. Buttler had clipped a boundary off his pads for four but then threw the kitchen sink at one and edge to second slip when Du Plessis takes a neat catch with the ball heading like a rocket towards his teeth. Adil Rashid is the new batsman.

    Ed Smith
Ex-England batsman on BBC Test Match Special

That was a loose shot and the easiest of catches for Amla at first slip. A carbon copy of the first wicket of the day.

  18. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 4.1 overs

    Hales c Amla b Rabada 1 (Eng 15-4)

These are not highlights I promise you, it is happening in real time. A wayward one from Hales, driving at a wide one, which is safely pouched by a diving Amla to his left at first slip.

  19. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 4 overs

    Morgan c De Kock b Parnell 8 (Eng 15-3)

Morgan had charged down the wicket to smash paceman Parnell over cover for four but then a rather tame push forward catches the edge and there is another stunned silence around the legendary arena.

  20. How's stat?!published at 11:16 British Summer Time 29 May 2017

    Andy Zaltzman
Comedian & BBC Test Match Special statistician

That's Jason Roy's fourth single figure score in five innings this summer. Previous to that, he'd averaged 53 since start of last summer, with only one dismissal below 10.
