Malan clubs the ball into the off side and my instant reaction is four but with England close to wiping out the deficit, West Indies have a sweeper out.

A scruffy over ends with Chase bowling down the leg side and Dowrich can't get his gloves on the ball and it runs down for two byes.

    Every little helps.

I innocently believed he'd got an inside edge because he reviewed it so quickly.

Joe Root was adamant about the review but I suspect only because he thought England would be toast if he'd have gone.

Wow. That is the fourth time S Ravi has had a decision overturned in this match.

Root is annoyed after missing out on a drive on the final ball as he picked out the fielder. He swishes his bat in frustration. Just be happy you're still there. Joe.

Missing! What do we know? Maybe Joe Root just knows exactly where his stumps are.

Missing!! Root survives. The ball was swinging down leg. It would have missed by a couple of inches.

My heart is going after that, never mind Root's.

HUGE moment. Root hit on the pad by Holder.

    Given out. He reviews immediately.

Dave Wood: Was Malan not picked for his attacking instincts? Seems to get himself unnecessarily bogged down.

Word from the England dressing room. They have confirmed Mark Stoneman dislocated a finger in that earlier blow. They also say it has since been relocated. Ouch.

Just the one to Malan from Chase's latest over.

He may only have 10 but I think Malan is doing well. He has weathered the storm that was severe when he came to the crease.

"Yorkshire, Yorkshire, Yorkshire" cry the crowd, the most annoying chant in sport and this is coming from a man now living in the county.

Root clips another ball off his toes and it's a big chase for the fielder on the boundary edge but the ball wins.

The fielder hops around as he goes to collect the ball, suggesting he may have pulled a hamstring. The physio trots round but it looks to be all good.

I know Chase has taken wickets in this match and there is a left-hander at the crease but I want to see leg-spinner Bishoo bowling.

He got Root in the first innings, remember.

I'm nearly made to pay for dismissing Chase's bowling though as he stands hands on hips after spinning one past Malan's edge.

The best uncapped middle-order batsman in the country is Wayne Madsen. Only reason he hasn't got his chance because he plays for an unfashionable county (Derbyshire).

Another four to Root off Holder and the bowler demands a fielder goes down to third man.

Root moves to 26. Look away Kyle Hope...

  15. Eng 120-3published at 47.2 overs

    Root 22, Malan 8

Holder was the man to kick all of this off with a brilliant spell either side of tea which saw the back of Cook.

He's back into the attack but starts too full and Root cashes in with a fifth four.

England have had so few opportunities to score, Root will know he needs to make the most of looseners.

Like Root did, Malan is making a tentative start after that reprieve.

Chase has a brief attempt from round the wicket but a sweep from the left-hander for two puts an end to that ploy.

Back over the wicket Malan tries to pierce the off side infield but can't make it. The strike rate of these two tells you how well West Indies are bowling. Root has 18 from 47 and Malan eight from 27.

Westley would have been better being run out. Getting out to such a poor shot goes much more against you when it's all balanced out in the selection meeting.
