    There it is!

Holder bowls a tight over but throws down a gift on the hip on the final ball and Stoneman clips it down to fine leg for four.

That's Stoneman's first half-century in Test cricket in his second match.

He gets a big handshake from his beaming skipper.

Jason Holder was cock-a-hoop after that dismissal of Westley. They must know they have England's number three under pressure. They're also through numbers one and three in the England order still well in the lead.

If Stoneman is having any trouble with that little finger he's not showing it as he picks up a couple and then a single to keep the strike, three short of a first Test half-century.

That's four consecutive single-figure scores for Tom Westley now.

    Stoneman 44, Root 0

"Roooooooooooot" rings around Headingley, as loud as I have ever heard that chant.

England need their captain now. Stoneman's heart must still be beating fast after that run out escape. They need a period of calm desperately.

Jason Holder is bowling a good spell here. These are the type of conditions where Holder is most effective. He's suited to these conditions more than those in the Caribbean.

Westley has been sucker-punched, chasing a wide one. He looked flustered after that near run-out. Holder set the trap, challenging Westley to drive, and he's caught behind. He's running out of chances to book himself an Ashes tour.

Is that it for Tom Westley?

The good news for him is that it's not a repeat of his lbw dismissal but the bad news is it is a horrific shot.

Wide and swinging from Holder and Westley tries to drive and nicks behind. That was an awful few minutes for the Essex man.

That would have been all Westley's fault. He lethargically jogged the first and stood there lazily looking at the fielder - he wasn't interested in a two.

Oh my word. How have England escaped here?

Bishoo comes into the attack and Stoneman knocks into the outfield. He runs a comfortable one and turns and goes for the second. Westley has his back to him and just doesn't move at the striker's end while Stoneman keeps running and both batsmen are stuck at the far end.

Despiet a wayward throw Bishoo still had time get to the stumps and take off the bails but he fumbles, allowing Westley to run 22-yards and make his ground.

    A shambles all round.

    Stoneman 38, Westley 6

Stoneman does continue and collects three on the first ball after that stoppage. Haseeb Hameed broke a finger in the winter when he looked a world beater and look what has happened to his international career since.

That should help Westley. A push down the ground for two.

West Indies will want him to retire hurt. If you go off with a broken finger, you're very unlikely to bat again.

It seems to be Stoneman's little finger that has been trapped against the bat handle and it is being wrapped in tape by the physio.

It looks like he'll keep on going and you can't blame him. He's waited all of his career for this chance.

He swallows a couple of painkillers but still needs help getting the glove back on.

I can only assume he's trapped the finger against the handle. He's hurt it, that's for sure. He's waited forever for this chance. He won't want to come off - he's a tough boy from the north east.

Jason Holder may not be quick but his height has caused Mark Stoneman problems already.

He's got one to cut back from back of a length and catch Stoneman on the left glove.

The opener is in serious discomfort. He could be in trouble. He takes the glove off and slams it to the ground as the physio runs on.

We had a question earlier asking if you can still use UltraEdge if the stump microphone is turned off. The answer, we have found out, is yes.

The question was posed after Ben Stokes' indiscretion on the second day.

I will never understand England's insistence on starting defensively with the bat regardless of circumstance. The ball is easiest to hit for runs when it's new, yet we appear to have a penchant for blocking it and then complaining when other players try to make up the rate later on and get out. And before everyone complains I should watch T20, I'm merely asking for a bit of intent and strike rotation to get a minimum of three per over- not fours and sixes every over.

The only reason we are above 1.5 an over here is the three boundaries Stoneman hit in one over. It's going to be a defensive blockathon or try and save the Test in what was meant to be a new era of English cricket.

Disappointing, when their bowling attack is quite frankly horrendous, despite their decent first innings job here.
