On an afternoon of calm accumulation for England's openers, there wasn't exactly a flurry of boundaries.

However, Stoneman showed some nice touches on the drive...

And Cook will always clatter anything short, wide and very cut-able...

Holder got the ball moving and got the key wicket of Cook.

Stoneman has done the first job to get to tea and Westley has also survived until tea.

It was a good session of Test cricket. England started really well and then Holder held up an end before he managed to get the ball moving around.

England have to make sure they are no more three down at the close to give themselves a chance of batting tomorrow and getting 200 in front.

Christian Reilly‏: I'm warming to Stoneman. Thinking that he's a little more physically robust than Hameed. That size advantage will be key for the Ashes.

Westley leaves well alone and survives through to tea.

A really good session of Test cricket - England on top for the first part but Jason Holder has nagged away and then produced a beautiful over to remove Cook.

Stoneman has looked solid - can England keep building in the evening session?

It suddenly looks more difficult to bat in the last 20 minutes.

  9. Eng 68-1published at 26.5 overs

Ball tracking shows it would've hit middle stump flush but was pitched too short to be in line, with Gabriel coming over the wicket to the left-hander.

Meanwhile, the Windies quick bowls a massive wide and that's his cue to come over the wicket.

Stoneman clips into the leg side for one.

Westley should be facing the last ball before tea with all these delays now...

That just skidded a little low, worryingly for England.

It skidded low and looked to be going on to hit the stumps but crucially it did indeed pitch outside leg stump.

    Stoneman survives.

  12. WI reviewpublished at 26.2 overs

Shannon Gabriel returns - Stoneman edges him away for four but the Windies quick responds by clattering his pads.

Loud appeal - the umpire says no but Windies review straight away.

    Has it pitched outside leg?

The game's at a really tense stage. Runs are not being scored - there's been four runs in four overs. It's all very well England batting time but there's another aspect to that equation. With a deficit of 169, the pitch deteriorates and gets worse and harder to bat on.

  14. Eng 62-1published at 15:34 British Summer Time 27 August 2017

    Holder 8-3-10-1

The ball seems to be dying a tad on the pitch, bouncing before it reaches Dowrich behind the stumps.

Ooooh - Holder teases Westley with the outswinger before coming back with a hooping inswinger that the Essex man leaves as it whistles close to the stumps.

I guess that goes down as a good leave. Holder can't believe it didn't hit. He'll have to settle for a maiden.

So far in his Test career, Tom Westley has been positive against spin. He always tried to take the attack to South Africa's Maharaj.

Westley guides into mid-wicket for a couple, then flicking off his hip for one.

Stoneman back on strike but happy just to leave Chase outside off, some big spin but too wide.

    Stoneman 30, Westley 1

He's not quick but Holder doesn't half routinely hit that teasing line and length just outside off.

He beats Westley's bat first up with one that nips off the seam. A bit of a stalemate follows before the Essex man scampers one.

Joseph Wilcox: Stoneman looking solid and worth a run in the side. Hopeful for Westley at three and then bring in Hales or Ballance at five.

From a flat deck to a snake pit - Chase is now finding plenty of venom outside Stoneman's off stump.

The opener is leaving well but a few there really did bite.

New man Tom Westley - yet another in need of a big innings - survives his first ball.
