    Roach b Anderson 3 (WI 177)

    England need 107 to win.

A career best for Jimmy Anderson, 7-42 and everyone is on their feet to acknowledge him. And we all thought Ben Stokes would get the magnum of champers for that 6-22 and his 60 with the bat.

Gabriel could have collected an ignominious record there, there has never been a West Indies batsman dismissed for a King Pair in Test cricket - ie out first ball in each innings. That reminds me of king prawn and a place I go with my friend in Rustington that is half a pub, half a Chinese.

  4. Not outpublished at 14:20 British Summer Time 9 September 2017

It was given out caught behind but the noise was from the thigh pad and Gabriel survives, for now at least.

I don't think there was an inside edge. I think it has hit the pad-flap.

  6. West Indies reviewpublished at 14:19 British Summer Time 9 September 2017

The burly figure of Shannon Gabriel comes out at number 11 and he could be out first ball again here. He has been given out caught behind but we have a review.

That is just giving it away. West Indies can't stop themselves from hooking or pulling anything short, so they will get more short balls. Sooner or later this mistimed one and get it wrong and that's what's happened.

That was a terrible shot, a lame pull.

  9. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:16 British Summer Time 9 September 2017

    Holder c Anderson b Broad 23 (WI 177-9)

The captain will not want to see this again. Nowhere near in the right place for the pull and it loops forlornly to Jimmy at mid-wicket. Well deserved for Broad but another very soft dismissal.

Wes Spearman: Anderson could get his best innings figures as well as his 500th. Best: 7-43 vs N Zealand at Trent Bridge.

An inswinging yorker from Anderson but this time it's not quite in the right spot and Holder is quick to get a bat on it and flick his fourth boundary. The captain keeps the bowling with a single and now has 23, having been dropped on six when Cooky couldn't get his hands there in time at slip off Root.

  12. WI 172-8published at 14:11 British Summer Time 9 September 2017

    Lead by 101

Broad has been down in the low 70s-mph at times but this bouncer is timed at 87.7mph, although it flicks off the elbow and away for four leg byes to take the lead over 100. Wind getting up a bit at HQ and some beefy showers are predicted for the London area later.

This is James Anderson's 24th five-wicket haul, his fifth at Lord's and his fourth against West Indies.

He has 38 Test wickets this summer, the most he has taken in a season. His previous best was 37 in 2014.

Anderson to Roach, arrowing in on middle stump but just turned away in time by the tailender for a single. Four bottles of champers in the front row with two pints either side. Never mix the grape and the grain surely?

Holder, who has a highest score of 103 not out, is playing with a nice straight bat and he drives Broad elegantly through the covers for his second boundary.

Four slips and a gully for Anderson to new man Kemar Roach who hurriedly gets to the other end with a thick edge into the offside. Holder guides one through the gully nicely and collects a boundary. His team's lead still below three figures though. Anderson now has 6-35 from 18 overs.

I don't know what happened there. I think he played down the wrong line. It was a full delivery and he missed it. Bishoo hasn't had much of a game.

  20. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:54 British Summer Time 9 September 2017

    Bishoo b Anderson 0 (WI 155-8)

Bishoo had a sleeveless sweater on but it was not a long stay, bowled all over the place second ball. Another beautiful delivery from Jimmy from round the wicket to the left-hander, just a hint of swing away and it fizzed past a tentative prod to rattle the off pole.
