If you're at Trent Bridge, let me know. How are you filling your time? Swift half in the Trent Bridge Inn? There's one chap in the stands wearing a red waterproof poncho. Fetching.

Just watching the India v Australia game, there was a rain break and then it stopped. They got right back out there. We have to wait for 20 mins of messing around for no reason whatsoever.

When I started for England, Nasser Hussain was a great help. Not everyone's favourite captain but for me he was brilliant. He threw the ball to me in situations when I was not expecting to bowl.

Nope, definitely raining again. The covers are coming back on. Stand down.

Hang on. I've just seen the fourth umpire put his umbrella back up. That's not a good sign. They are running the rope around the outfield, trying to remove any surface moisture.

At the minute I am loving playing cricket. I speak to a lot of people who have retired and I am lucky to be in the condition that I am. I will keep myself in as good as shape as possible. As long as I am taking wickets and feeling good, I will carry on.

If I go on until the age of 40 then fantastic, but I'd take 36 to be honest.

  8. Play to resume at 13:15published at 13:08 British Summer Time 21 September 2017

Yep, the good news is confirmed. We'll have cricket again shortly. I doubt we've lost any overs.

There's a suggestion that play might begin again at 13:15. Watch this space.

We all knew that Blowers was retiring but I was shocked to see you had stuck him away with the archives in Shrewsbury.

The good news is that it looks like the covers are coming off. The bad news is that we reckon there's more rain due to arrive later in the day.

If you're just joining us, we managed 14 legal deliveries at Trent Bridge before the rain arrived. In that time, Alex Hales played shots like this...

I do miss ODI cricket but I also know that I'm not getting any younger and that extra break is valuable to me.

The time off during the Champions Trophy got me in decent form for the summer.

Sneaked a few drinks in before an evening game on my 17th birthday and turned up a little bit worse for wear. Proceeded to bowl a 14 ball over that did include two wickets but also went for plenty. I didn't get a second over, but did get a huge telling off from our coach/ opening batsman's dad. Never done it since.

This summer has gone better than I would have hoped.

My goal was to get through seven Test matches and not got injured. I did that and the wickets I got was a bonus.

  16. Hameed retires hurtpublished at 12:52 British Summer Time 21 September 2017

Some news which might affect England's Ashes selection - Lancashire batsman Haseeb Hameed has retired hurt on 23 in their County Championship game against Middlesex at Lord's, after being struck on the right hand. (Thankfully, not the left hand which he broke in India last winter).

He's not the only England fringe candidate to suffer in that way - Ben Duckett was unable to bat for Northamptonshire yesterday because of a broken finger.

I get a gym programme for the fitness team in England. I work closely with them and over the last few years I have found something that works for me.

I don't do massive weights in the gym and try to bulk up but I do enough to stay robust. The more I bowl, the more my body has got used to it. I don't particularly wake up stiff.

Ah. The rain that we though was coming, has come. The players disappear, Rihanna's Umbrella plays over the PA. The feeling is that the wet stuff might hang around for a while.
