  1. 6 runs

    Ind 189-1published at 36 overs

    Rohit 89 from 116 balls

Wahab Riaz, the fiery left-armer is into the attack to continue the dot fest. Dot to dot. The picture at the end is one of India being hauled back. Finally, Rohit loosens the shackles, playing a sumptuous cover drive for four. Boomtown Rats! Pulled for six. Hello accelerator, my old friend.

I wonder, at the end of the day's play, if we'll take a look at the strike-rates and Rohit Sharma's rate is going to look too slow.

  3. Ind 176-1published at 35 overs

Don't forget suncream, a tea towel to wipe your wet seat with and enough sandwiches to feed the 82nd Airborne. Shadab Khan is back with his 18-year-old leggies, again continuing the brilliant work of Pakistan. In the past six overs, India have only scored 17 runs.

I did a piece for Indian TV recently, about how best to prepare for watching cricket in England. I advised viewers to bring a brollie, a big coat and their sunglasses.

  5. Ind 174-1published at 34 overs

    Rohit 77, Kohli 25

India have to start again. Having said that, the break came at a bad time for Pakistan - they had put the squeeze on. Amir, number five on his back, is stump-to-stump, varying his pace. Brilliant completion of the over, a single and four dots.

The umpires and players are on their way, the covers have been removed and the sky is, erm, there. We've been off for the best part of 45 minutes. Mohammad Amir has five deliveries of the 34th over to bowl.

A touch harsh, Eddie. Besides, we're restarting at 14:20 BST. We're down to 48 overs per side.

Maybe it's time to sack Edgbaston off as a venue for international cricket.

You can't help but think that this rain break is helping Pakistan. Even if the India score does get a little boost from DLS, you'd suspect that Pakistan's chase won't be as large as it might have been.

Remember, now we've started losing overs, we lose more and more for every minute that we're off. It's safe to say that we're no longer looking at a 49-over match.

Having said that, the covers are now coming back on. Ruddy weather.

I'm not sure it works like that, Matt. What if it doesn't rain and we've wrapped up a 20-over game in clear weather at 4pm?

Matt C: Rain again at Edgbaston and risk of another no result. Why not shorten the game now instead of risking the second side not facing 20 overs?

It's brighter at Edgbaston, although we're keeping an eye on the weather radar. Apparently there's a 20% chance of rain for the rest of the day. Does that mean it will rain for 12 minutes every hour?

Re strange things you’ve been given by a cricketer – Lord Geoffrey of Boycott gave me a smile when I got out of his way at Headingley last year. Strange and unexpected!

And that was when the rain came. However, we have good news on that front. Play will resume at 14:10 BST. The small hiccup is that we've lost an over apiece. This match is now 49 overs per side.
