  1. Ind 147-1published at 27 overs

    Rohit 70, Kohli 5

Imagine being 18 years old and playing in this cauldron? Leggie Shadab Khan should be playing Fifa and listening to Catfish, not bowling to the world's premier ODI batsman. He's done OK, too. Chain around his neck, light-footed run-up. Six singles in this over, the last one Rohit Sharma having to dive to make his ground. Make sure you're backing up when Virat is on strike...

To become the top man in Indian cricket - like Virat Kohli has - means you have to be an incredible human being. You've already surpassed a billion people. Kohli relishes his position.

  3. Ind 141-1published at 26 overs

Thanks to Kal, Stephan Shemilt in the chair for a little while. I was going to say that we should just assume that India will be biffing it around Birmingham, but the wicket should apply the brakes. Then again, this fella Kohli can play a bit. Left-armer Imad Wasim back on. Hint of turn, decent over. Three singles.

The wicket of Dhawan has woken up the Pakistan supporters in this capacity ground. And brought an instant response from the massed ranks of Indian fans: "KOH-LI! KOH-LI! KOH-LI!"

  5. Ind 138-1published at 25 overs

You can close your eyes and know who has walked to the crease. "Koh-li, Koh-li." Is the deafening chant of the crowd. He's away with a single. Meanwhile, Shikhar Dhawan drafts his retirement speech after holing out to that full toss.

Would you believe it? He's played so well, it's the easiest ball he's faced all day and he's picked out the boundary rider.

  7. wicket

    WICKET - Ind 136-1published at 24.3 overs

    Dhawan c Azhar b Shadab 68

Breakthrough! Horrible shot from Dhawan who has played so well today. A full toss which he flicks off his pads straight to Azhar Ali at deep midwicket. Much needed for Pakistan.

  8. Ind 135-0published at 24 overs

    Rohit 63, Dhawan 68

Shoaib Malik will continue as Pakistan showing little intent in actually getting that wicket.

India happy to pick up the singles and wait for the bad balls, with Dhawan sweeping fine for four.

Captain Kohli looking on eagerly from the dressing room. A part of him will want to come out and take to this Pakistan attack.

It's going to be difficult for Pakistan to rein India in from here.

  10. Ind 129-0published at 23 overs

Shadab nearly fools Rohit with a wrong'en which turns the other way, leading edge as the ball trickles through to short extra-cover.

A tidy over but still no wicket. Perhaps time to bring Amir back for an over or two?

  11. Just like Junior?published at 12:49 British Summer Time 4 June 2017

    Ed Smith
Ex-England batsman on BBC Test Match Special

Rohit Sharma is like a modern-day Mark Waugh - everything is so easy, he's a calm, languid player.

  12. Ind 125-0published at 22 overs

    Rohit 60, Dhawan 61

The experienced Shoaib Malik looks to come in and stem the flow of runs.

He does exactly that, four from the over.

Pakistan desperately need their first wicket. Score predictor is saying India are on course for 360.

  13. Red Rose rockedpublished at 12:46 British Summer Time 4 June 2017

Whilst India are slapping Pakistan all around Edgbaston, Lancashire are being trounced in the Roses match.

The visitors have been bowled out for 209 in their second innings, meaning Yorkshire will only need 60 to win.

  14. India 121-0published at 21 overs

    Rohit 58, Dhawan 59

Dhawan does a dance down the wicket, Dhawan then flicks it off his pads for a 73 metre six, Dhawan is looking decent.

Indian crowd are going wild, Pakistan fans muted.

    Another big over.

  15. Rohit's six to reach 50published at 12:43 British Summer Time 4 June 2017

Rohit, you might remember, brought up his 50 with a six. It's unlikely to be the last one he hits today either. India are dominating.

  16. 'Wahab needs to play to the occasion'published at 12:42 British Summer Time 4 June 2017

    Ramiz Raja
Former Pakistan captain on BBC Test Match Special

This is poor stuff from Wahab - shaping the ball into the pads of Shikhar. It's just so easy. He needs to play to the occasion. He's a senior bowler - work the batsman out.

  17. 'The wheels are falling off'published at 12:42 British Summer Time 4 June 2017

    Simon Mann
    BBC Test Match Special commentator

It's very early, but the wheels already look to be falling off for Pakistan.

  18. 50 runs

50 for Dhawan, India 110-0published at 20 overs

    Rohit 55, Dhawan 51

Poor from Wahab Riaz, three consecutive boundaries from Dhawan.

A short one guided down to past fine third man, second strays on leg and is sent crashing to the boundary, the third is short again and is cut, again.

Dhawan reaches his 50, India firmly in control after 20 overs.

  19. Postpublished at 12:39 British Summer Time 4 June 2017

    Ramiz Raja
Former Pakistan captain on BBC Test Match Special

There's a reason why Pakistan are ranked so low. They haven't adapted to the present-day way of playing 50-over cricket. They are finding their way in the bowling department and some of their batsman - like Azhar Ali - are fine players but perhaps not ideal one-day players.

  20. 50 runs

    50 for Rohit - Ind 95-0published at 19 overs

First six of the innings whacked over mid-wicket and Rohit reaches his half-century from 72 balls.
