  1. Ind 52-0published at 11 overs

So the 23-year-old Hasan Ali (age according to Wikipedia) will continue as the weather seems to have quietened down this crowd a tad.

    I'm sure that won't last.

And it doesn't, as a no-ball from Hasan, front foot well over the line, gifts India a free hit.

Full toss, Rohit Sharma goes arieal and it's driven for four.

    50 up for India.

Shoaib Malik seems to have been around a long time. He seems to get two years younger with each tournament. He was 19 the same year I was, but he doesn't seem to be 38 like I am. The internet says he's 35.

Nothing exciting to tell you from that delivery. Dot ball.

Cheers around Edgbaston as the covers come off. It's still grey overhead, the floodlights are on and the smell of rain is in the air, but for now we're looking okay.

  9. Exquisite from Rohitpublished at 11:43 British Summer Time 4 June 2017

India's openers started to up the pace a little.

You cannot beat this shot for timing.

  10. Chance?published at 11:41 British Summer Time 4 June 2017

Pakistan's fielders have been woeful this morning; misfields, overthrows.

Have to cut Azhar Ali some slack here though ...

And now back to today ... Mohammad Amir bowled superbly this morning to restrict the Indian openers from scoring.

The first four came in a somewhat unconvincing manner ...

Yesterday was the turn of South Africa and Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka restricted their opponents to 299 runs, despite a gritty ton by Hashim Amla.

The exuberant Niroshan Dickwella then made 41 from 33 balls as Sri Lanka raced to 69 without loss from 8.2 overs. That was before leggy Imran Tahir got involved ...

The 2015 World Cup finalists Australia and New Zealand went head to head at Edgbaston.

A stop-start day due to rain, we were treated to Luke Ronchi smashing the ball to all parts, Kane Williamson reaching triple figures and Josh Hazlewood picking up six wickets.

New Zealand looked in control before the weather had the final say.

  17. ICC statement following London attackspublished at 11:12 British Summer Time 4 June 2017

Here's a statement from the International Cricket Council following last night's attacks in London: "Our thoughts are with everyone affected by what has happened in London overnight. The ICC and ECB continue to place safety and security at the ICC Champions Trophy and ICC Women’s World Cup this summer as the highest priority.

"Following last night’s incident all team hotels went into lockdown and teams, match officials and staff were all quickly accounted for. The enhanced security around venues implemented following the Manchester attack remains in place, this includes significantly enhanced police and security presence for today’s match.

"We will continue to work with authorities over the coming hours and days and review our security in line with the threat levels.

"The security situation has been very much front and centre of our preparations and we constantly review our procedures to guarantee they are as effective as possible to keep everyone safe."

  19. Ind 46-0published at 9.4 overs

You cannot field like this in international cricket. After an easy single, there's no backing-up as India run through for two overthrows.

Before that we saw an aggressive sweep from Dhawan for four.

  20. Ind 37-0published at 9 overs

We have had part one and two of the Amir v Rohit battle, but will have to wait for the trilogy as Hasan Ali is brought into the attack.

Shot. Rohit Sharma on his toes just waits for the ball to come onto his bat and pushes it through for a boundary.

    Five from the over.
