There's no real spin in the pitch, but there hasn't been swing either. Maybe Pakistan have tried to burgle a few overs with Imad in the hope that India might play a rash shot, which they haven't done.

  2. Ind 32-0published at 8 overs

    Rohit 20, Dhawan 11

There were a few empty seats this morning but they look to have been filled now.

Again, a misfield from Pakistan, this time at backward point gifting India a couple.

Rohit then gets one on the backside from the fielder at mid-on as they run through for a single.

Eight overs have flown by, good start by Pakistan. Patient by India.

  3. Amir v Rohit part twopublished at 11:04 British Summer Time 4 June 2017

Amir deserved more from his opening spell with the new ball. Difficult chance this, though?

  4. Amir v Rohit part onepublished at 11:02 British Summer Time 4 June 2017

Mohammad Amir has been sharp this morning, but Rohit doesn't take a backward step - hooking this bumper to the boundary.

  5. Ind 27-0published at 7 overs

    Rohit 19, Dhawan 7

Good from Amir. Bowling tight and into the body to restrict the Indians from scoring freely.

Six from the over, including that half-chance.

In theory it was catchable, but it was difficult for Azhar because he was diving to his right. It would have broken his fingernails if he'd got to it. It was just out of his grasp.

  7. dropped catch

    Closepublished at 6.1 overs

Chance? Edge from Rohit and a diving Azhar at first slip can barely get his fingers to it. Would have been a dolly for second slip, had there been one.

  8. Ind 21-0published at 6 overs

Imad, shades on and a super impressive middle parting. I had one of those, when I was 13.

A more orthodox boundary this time as Rohit leans back and carves one through the covers.

  9. Ind 15-0published at 5 overs

    Rohit 9, Dhawan 5

    Four!

Bounced in from Amir, Rohit pulls, it gets the top edge and with the fine-leg up short it has boundary written all over it.

Mohammad Amir may be fired up but he's also all smiles after that. He's bowled some beauties this morning.

Amir is really fired up today. He's glaring at the batsmen, exchanging words. He's bristling and he's got the umpire on his shoulder, keeping a close eye.

  11. Ind 9-0published at 4 overs

The openers happy to take the singles from Imad. Well, four singles.

What was I saying about the Pakistan fielding? I stand corrected, we've just seen a direct hit from long-off. Rohit was well in.

Still no boundary in this innings, you can imagine how loud it will get when we do have one.

Chris Etheridge: India look very strong to me. I think their batting has too much power and innovation for Pakistan.

  13. Ind 5-0published at 3 overs

    Rohit 2, Dhawan 2

Mohammad Amir, sporting some facial hair, continues with another fine over. Getting up to speeds of 88mph.

More comical stuff from the Pakistan fielders who seem to be falling all over the place as Rohit squeezes one into the off.

  15. Ind 3-0published at 2 overs

    Rohit 0, Dhawan 2

Pakistan opt for spin from the City End with the Swansea-born Imad Wasim.

Terrible fielding from Pakistan (first time you've ever heard that? doubt it) as a tumbling backward -point lets the ball roll under him and India get off the mark with an easy two.

There's a few words exchanged between Mohammad Amir and Rohit Sharma. Straight away, the umpire steps in. It's as though they've been given a directive on sledging.

The crowd and horns are in full force.

A false start as there's some movement behind the bowler's arm before the first delivery is bowled.

Lovely stuff from Amir, back of a length and cuts it back to invite a play and a miss from Rohit.

Maiden! Great over from the young Pakistan seamer to start proceedings, He has his line spot on.
