  1. Pak 76-2published at 16 overs

    Target 289 off 41 overs

A real lull in the Pakistan innings, they pick up a few singles before Hafeez gets his hands high and cuts one towards the third man region. Yuvraj, running across tries to palm it on the bounce but makes a meal of it and India concede a boundary.

Hardik Pandya has that side fade haircut that's all the rage these days. I like it.

  2. Pak 67-2published at 15 overs

    Azhar 41, Hafeez 2

Hafeez struggles to get off the mark, then eventually does so with a sweet push through cover for two.

Just three from that Yadav over.

Win predictor gives Pakistan a 11% chance of winning this match. I'd say that's more than fair enough.

Dropped catch - Pak 64-2published at 14 overs

    Target 289 off 41 overs

So the man who played that cameo role at the back-end of India's innings, Hardik Pandya, comes into the attack.

And he should have a wicket. Azhar drives one on the up, Bhuvneshwar comes running in from long-on and his hands are just too low, the ball hitting him on the wrist.

    Should have taken it.

He just stood and poked it to the man at point. The shot before was so good, but this was lazy and sloppy.

  6. Pak 61-2published at 13 overs

Mohammad Hafeez comes in and sees out the rest of the over.

Just the one boundary at the start, the loss of Babar and then four dots. Nicely done by Yadav.

I think the scoreboard got to him. He just had to look for a partnership. It was a casual shot. It wasn't a wicket-taking ball but he tried to hit it too hard.

    Babar c Jadeja b Yadav 8

There we were bigging up Babar and he did us justice with a lovely cut for four. But the very next ball he goes to cut it again but doesn't quite get hold of it and is caught at point.

Pakistan in a spot of bother.

  9. Pak 57-1published at 12 overs

    Azhar 37, Babar 4

    Bumrah continues.

Azhar looks settled, Pakistan will need him to stay out there for a while.

Babar finally gets off the mark. He has four 100's against the West Indies you know, a bit of a Ravi Bopara.

He also has a century against Australia at Adelaide. So this fella can bat.

Poor running again from Pakistan. They go for a quick single, the man at silly point runs in and can't get a direct hit with an under-arm throw. Would have been close.

  10. Watch Pakistan's first wicket fallpublished at 17:23 British Summer Time 4 June 2017

There's still room for nagging line-and-length bowling in world cricket - just look at this delivery from Bhuvneshwar. Classical.

This is good bowling from Umesh Yadav. He's not going to give it away with a soft delivery - he's making the batsman play a shot.

  12. Pak 51-1published at 11 overs

    Target 289 off 41 overs

So Babar Azam is the new man in. Doesn't look all that convincing, fishing at one outside off but pulling away at the last minute.

The crowd are tricked into thinking it's a caught and bowled chance for Yadav but Babar plonked it into the ground first.

Maiden over. Can Pakistan afford that?

  13. Azhar in fine formpublished at 17:16 British Summer Time 4 June 2017

While Azhar is timing the ball like this, Pakistan are in with a shout...

  14. Pak 51-1published at 10 overs

The replay confirms that Shehzad was right not to review. It was hitting the top of the stumps - not even umpire's call. Three red lights. Virat Kohli was right in there with a double fist pump too. Azhar still going nicely at the other end. He ramps a Bumrah short ball for four.

I would have been very tempted to review this. Shehzad shuffled across the crease, right in front of all three. It was an huge appeal. It sounds silly, but sometimes that makes the umpire more likely to give it out. I wonder if it was a fraction high.

    Shehzad lbw b Bhuvneshwar 12

It was going so well in that over for Pakistan, scoring off every ball, but Shehzad is now heading back to the pavilion.

He plays across his line and is given lbw. I think it looked out, but perhaps he should have reviewed it, worth a risk.

Pandya had plenty of time. The batsman was in no man's land. Sometimes you should take a faction of a second longer to take your base, then the accuracy of your throw will be improved.

  18. Pak 38-0published at 8 overs

    Target 289 off 41 overs

A lot more vuvuzela'ing happening in the Edgbaston crowd. The sunshine has perked them up.

Pakistan get away with one! They go for a quick single which was never on, Pandya at midwicket goes for a direct hit at the strikers end and misses. Shehzad was a gonner.

Not too dissimilar a start to that of the India openers. In fact, it's a better rate - India were 32-0 after eight overs.

Bright blue skies pushing the grey clouds away above Edgbaston. At the risk of mockers, it looks set fair for the next few hours. Or 30-something overs.

  20. Pak 32-0published at 7 overs

    Target 289 off 41 overs

Bhuvneshwar in for his fourth over. Squeezed into the off from Azhar and poor fielding from Dhawan who takes an age to get down to the ball, in the end it trickles through his hands.

Nice from Azhar again, cover drive off the back foot to add a couple more to his score.

Then not so nice from Azhar, walks across his wicket and plays inside the line.

    Five from the over.
