South Africa need to put Pakistan under pressure and not allow the bowlers to sit in and do what they like. That's what David Miller is trying to do with that six.

    SA 105-4published at 26 overs

Cheers, Kal. Finally, this Champions Trophy has a contest that it so badly needs. Pakistan are being all Pakistan - awful one day, excellent the next. South Africa are being all South Africa - the strange knack of being scared of their own shadow. Then again, David Miller has just pumped Mohammad Hafeez for six over mid-wicket.

I will now make way for Stephan Shemilt.

Here's the Du Plessis dismissal as my parting gift.

  4. SA 97-4published at 25 overs

    Miller 14, Duminy 4

What approach will South Africa take now? They can't afford to lose another wicket but Pakistan are also stifling the runs. Hasan varies his length, ending by banging one in short which Miller leaves well alone.

South Africa pulling a South Africa and Pakistan doing a Pakistan. Why are we even surprised by these two anymore?

    Miller 13, Duminy 3

We've spoken about how good Imad has been with his ball, but Hafeez has been just as effective. No loose deliveries as he goes for two.

Mexican waves in the crowd. I can't see them, I can hear them. You know it's a Mexican wave from the tempo of the cheering.

Pakistan have fielded tremendously. Sarfraz Ahmed said they discussed a lot of things in their team meeting after the India loss. It seems that meeting did a lot of good.

JP Duminy comes in. Pakistan could have had another as the South African goes for a quick single. Mid-on has one stump to aim at. May have just made it in. Tight.

Great first over from Hasan. South Africa in trouble. Did you see this coming? Be honest.

Pakistan deserve that. They've choked South Africa in the last 5-10 overs and the bowling change made the difference.

  10. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 22.2 overs

    Du Plessis b Hassan 26 (SA 90-4)

We don't have a 15th consecutive over of spin, instead we have Hasan Ali brought into the attack and we have a wicket.

It's back of a length, outside off and Faf du Plessis plays on.

South Africa are average players of spin, generally.

  12. SA 90-3published at 22 overs

    Du Plessis 26, Miller 11

We enter the 14th consecutive over of spin and a much needed boundary.

Du Plessis down on one knee flicks it behind and down to the fine leg boundary. A for effort for Shahzad who desperately dives to stop it. His green top has got even greener.

There isn't anything wrong with Pakistan's over-rate at the moment.

The best thing South Africa can do now is to scamper some quick singles, annoy the bowler and stop him from thinking about getting you out.

  14. SA 83-3published at 21 overs

Will they just see out Imad's 10? He still has another three to go.

He's bowling full and Pakistan happy to let the singles go by. Five from this one.

Imad's hair parting isn't quite in the middle, it's in between middle and side. Impressive nevertheless.

Ralph Brooker: Told you that spin would undo South Africa in the early overs and that a revitalised Pakistan could cause an upset!

  16. SA 78-3published at 20 overs

    Du Plessis 17, Miller 8

As Swanny, Cook and the sheep talk continues, a tad better from South Africa at Edgbaston.

Miller and du Plessis find the angles and work the gaps on both sides to get the ones and twos. Seven from the over.

Alastair Cook has been back on. He really is off to feed sheep.

  18. SA 71-3published at 19 overs

Same story as Imad darts them in and the South African pair work hard to try and score. They're restricted to just three singles.

Imad had earlier got the better of AB de Villiers who was out for a first ball duck. Don't believe me? It's true, I promise. Here's the proof ...

I'm being sledged by Alastair Cook on text message. He says I can't talk about a spinner's field because I never had more than four men in the ring. He's probably got his hand halfway up a sheep's bottom at the moment.

  20. SA 68-3published at 18 overs

Cracking stuff from Pakistan as Hafeez gets through another.

They're really racing through these overs and hardly conceding. Will the pressure take its toll and force a mistake?
