    Amla lbw b Imad 16 (SA 40-1)

The spin of Imad Wasim comes in and gets the breakthrough.

He darts a quick one in and it traps Amla in front. Massive massive appeal from Pakistan. The appeal didn't need to be that loud, the umpire had no hesitation.

  2. SA 39-0published at 8 overs

    de Kock 19 , Amla 16

That's why Hashim Amla is regarded as one of the best. Plays an elegant flick off his pads and pierces the field for four.

South Africa continue the trend we have generally seen this tournament, happy to not lose wickets in the first ten or so over rather than take the risk of going big.

Mohammad Amir is a key player for Pakistan. When he takes a wicket he lifts and galvanises everyone. That's why South Africa need to stay strong for the first 20 overs or so.

  4. SA 30-0published at 7 overs

Four. Amir had been getting his line almost spot on but he goes short - Amla takes a step back into his crease and pulls it square for a boundary.

    Five from the over.

I would like to tell you about my ticket experience for the England-New Zealand match. Despite ordering my tickets on 1st June I did not receive my tickets until 9.30am on the morning of the match. Accordingly I was two hours late getting to the stadium. I wonder how many no shows also received their tickets in the morning. People around me also had the same problem.

  6. SA 25-0published at 6 overs

    de Kock 16 , Amla 5

De Kock gets forward to nicely square-drive it for two. Pakistan do well in the field to cut it off.

Junaid tries to go slow but angles it down leg, worked off the pads but again some good fielding limits it to a couple.

Pakistan could have had a wicket if Shoaib Malik had been accurate with this throw earlier.

Mohammad Amir is bowling at a very lively pace. You'd expect him, with his skills, to bowl a fuller length but he's sent down some sharp bouncers too.

  8. SA 19-0published at 5 overs

    Amir 3-0-13-0

I hope you'll all agree that the England's unfortunate loss is the commentary box's gain, James Taylor has been great on the TMS mic.

South Africa happy to see out these first five overs without playing anything too extravagant. Amir trying to mix it up, goes short but concedes a couple of wides.

My international commentary debut was the tied match between England and Sri Lanka at Trent Bridge. Liam Plunkett hit a six off the final ball. I did about a 45-minute stint at the end of the match. It was not good for my ticker.

  10. SA 14-0published at 13:49 British Summer Time 7 June 2017

    de Kock 9, Amla 4

More swing from Pakistan. Junaid Khan gets one back of length to nip back in and it hits de Kock in a place where it hurts.

There's an appeal for lbw, looked high. A wider one then moves away and de Kock edges it past the slips for four.

Encouraging signs for the Pakistan seamers.

Can I just ask what the point of cricket teams having an away kit is? Suddenly there is a colour clash that is unacceptable to the ICC yet they are fine with the all-white(ish) kits in test match cricket. Is this just a money making scheme by the makers/ICC or are Sky needlessly interfering in the game.

  12. SA 10-0published at 3 overs

Direct hit and de Kock would have been gone! Shoaib Malik at mid-on had all three to aim at. Early lifeline for South Africa.

Mohammad Amir is looking pacey, hitting the 90mph mark and getting some movement.

He gets one to cut back, finds de Kock's inside-edge, ricochets off the thigh pad and one bounce to the keeper. Nice delivery.

Quinton de Kock and Hashim Amla are both strong off their legs and will capitalise on any width so you have to try and get them hitting the ball back down the ground.

  14. SA 7-0published at 2 overs

    de Kock 4, Amla 2

Pakistan opted to open with the spin of Imad Wasim against India, but it's Junaid Khan with the second new ball.

Thick outside edge is well cut off by third man. They struggled in the field last time round, will need to be on it today.

Amla gets off the mark by opening the face of the bat and pushing it through the covers for a couple. He then flashes at a wide one which carries through to the keeper. No edge, despite a shout from one of the Pakistan fielders.

Pakistan coach Micky Arthur is confident this surface will help his bowlers more than South Africa's.

  16. SA 4-0published at 1 over

    de Kock 3 , Amla 0

Down the leg side first up from Amir, signaled wide. He looked decent in that first over against India, found his rhythm straight away.

Much better, good line just outside the off. A bit too much width and de Kock cuts it square. Three Pakistan fielders chasing that one from all different directions, they limit it to three runs.

Fenners: Pakistan can still lose today and qualify if they wallop Sri Lanka, South Africa beat India then Sri Lanka beat India. They'd all have two points & it would be on net run-rate.

Sounds very unlikely to me, Fenners.

Here we go then, Mohammad Amir does some high kicks to stretch and Pakistan engage in one final huddle.

de Kock and Amla make their way to the middle.

Pakistan were awful against India - they were outplayed in every department.

The teams make their way onto the field. Time for the anthems. South Africa are dressed in bright yellow, so not to clash with the green of Pakistan. It's proper bright that, as yellow as Laa-Laa from the Teletubbies.

Good number of Pakistan fans in the crowd, clearly not too disheartened from the loss to India.
