Pandya 3-0-28-0
Shot! That is stonking from Tamim, a step to the side and launching the ball over the mid-wicket and into the stands. Lovely movement from the batsman to get to the ball and muscle it up and over the field. He holds the pose to let the cameras capture the moment.
Hardik Pandya is going to continue. Here's his first over, where things went crackers on one delivery...
Ashwin 3-0-15-0
That is lovely from Tamim. It's just good in every sense, the batsman crouching and dabbing the ball oh-so-delicately past MS Dhoni and down to the boundary. This is a good over from Bangladesh. They take a run off every ball Ashwin sends their way, not allowing the spinner to dictate the rhythm of the over.

Good luck India! Play well. From a PhD student who can't resist peeking at scores while writing thesis.

This is a much tidier over from right-armer Hardik Pandya. Mushfiqur plays and misses at another off stump tempter before Pandya sends down a high, wide delivery. That's the only real slip in the over though for India.
Here's when Mushfiqur upped the tempo slightly for Bangladesh, playing a series of shots that got prettier as the over progressed.
Tamim 24, Mushfiqur 14
Ravichandran Ashwin absolutely races through his overs. Which is good for India's over rate and a test of typing speed for a live texter. It's nicely dealt with by Bangladesh, Mushfiqur and Tamim both getting forward and using their feet to clip the ball around for singles. The noise inside Edgbaston is superb, plenty of horns and drums going off around the ground.
Dearie me, that was some over. Two no balls, a wicket that wasn't, a boundary and a furious-looking India captain. 14 runs came from that one.

Up and down in mood. Or down then up, depending on who you are supporting. It's a good call by the umpire - there was nothing behind the crease and it's a second no ball in the same over.
Ban 56-2
Bowled 'im, but it's a no ball! Dearie me! That's the second time in the over Hardik Pandya has overstepped, and it has cost him! Pandya drew Tamim forward, the ball kissed the inside edge and smashed into the stumps, but the bowler had overstepped. And to add insult to injury, the free hit goes whizzing straight down the ground for four.

Time for some spin, with Ravichandran Ashwin tossing the ball from hand to hand. The crowd break into a round of "oh, Ravi Jadeja" as the man in question pulls off a fine diving stop and hammers in a return throw in one swift movement. He's got such a quick arm. He'd be a good javelin thrower with a speedy arm like that.

Bhuvneshwar 6-1-30-2
Bhuvneshwar continues over the wicket and this is a better line from the bowler. Tidy, no width, hugging off stump and Bangladesh stay circumspect. Tamim taps a single and Bhuvneshwar, annoyed that he's conceded a run, bangs in a bouncer that Mushfiqur ducks under with ease.

Former Bangladesh all-rounder on BBC Test Match Special
Mushfiqur is more than good enough to play those textbook shots, so why take a risk? This is a very important partnership for Bangladesh.
Tamim 10, Mushfiqur 12
The Husseycat Dolls is an unbelievable shout. Keep 'em coming. Back on the pitch and Jasprit Bumrah is still being miserly. He's getting the ball to nip back in to the batsmen and Tamim works a single away to the leg side to keep things ticking along.

Four! That'll break the deadlock, and it's a horrible shot from Mushfiqur, an inside out cut that looks all sorts of wrong.. That's much better looking though, a lovely, flowing drive, elbows high and the ball races away to the boundary. And again! Mushfiqur cuts, and cuts hard, and there's no stopping that. Bhuvneshwar looks a little miffed as his figures take a dent.
Sabbir looked in good form this morning - he wasn't afraid to use his feet to India's opening bowlers and there was plenty of power behind his shots.
That probably explains why Virat Kohli was so pleased to see the back of him...
