  1. Ban 32-2published at 8 overs

India are turning the screw already. We're eight overs in and there's no width on offer from Jasprit Bumrah. New man Mushfiqur can't resist a little push at a tempting delivery from the bowler, aiming a big drive outside off stump and only just avoiding sending an edge through to MS Dhoni. Just the one run on offer there.

This is by far the biggest match in Bangladesh's one-day international history.

  3. Ban 31-2published at 7 overs

    Bhuvneshwar 4-1-16-2

Mushfiqur Rahim is the new man in, and he thuds his bat down on a full delivery from Bhuvneshwar to end the over.

That's what pressure does to you! Thirteen dot balls in a row and Sabbir flashes at a wide one and is caught at backward point.

  5. wicket

    Sabbir c Jadeja b Bhuvneshwar 19 (Ban 31-2)

Sunshine! At Edgbaston! And it's brought about a wicket! That is such good bowling from the India opening pair. They'd put a lid on the runs, not allowing Sabbir to swing his arms, and it's brought about the wicket. It was a slower ball, just offering up some tempting width, and Sabbir opened his arms and lashed it straight to Ravi Jadeja. Virat Kohli gives the batsman a proper send off as the fielders converge.

I've not seen this mustard-coloured umpire's kit before. Can you get an umpire's replica kit?

TMS statistician Andy Zaltzman: "I would definitely have had that kit as a child."

  7. Ban 31-1published at 6 overs

India coach Anil Kumble is watching on intently from the dressing room, eyes hidden behind a pair of snazzy shades. That's a good delivery from Jasprit Bumrah, bowling a probing line, and Sabbir can't resist a little flirt at an off stump delivery that just moves away from the bat at the last second. That'll be a maiden.

Bhuvneshwar claimed the first wicket today, bowling Soumya Sarkar off the inside edge. Here's how it played out...

  9. Ban 31-1published at 5 overs

    Bhuvneshwar 3-0-16-1

Ooh, that swung! A decent delivery from Bhuvneshwar, angled in, and Tamim gets turned around trying to work it through the covers. The ball flies off a leading edge and goes right through where third slip would have been standing, if they had one. Tamim then nabs a quick single, the throw from the deep is shoddy, and Kohli unleashes a glare on the fielder responsible. The sort of look that could turn a man to stone.

I was expecting a sell-out, but Edgbaston is currently far from full. That might be something to do with the large queues outside of the crowd, but it would be disappointing to have a second semi-final that hasn't attracted a capacity crowd. Having said that, those that are here are making a right din.

  11. Ban 26-1published at 4 overs

Sabbir isn't hanging about here, using his feet again to Bumrah and lashing the ball up and over the fielders and into the boundary. That wasn't entirely controlled, more of a toe end than anything else, but it had enough on it. Bumrah pulls his length back slightly and Sabbir settles down to block the final ball of the over.

I like the cut of Sabbir's jib.

  13. Ban 21-1published at 3 overs

    Tamim 6, Sabbir 15

There's a steady sprinkling of rain coming down on the ground but there's brighter skies just behind the stands. It doesn't bother Sabbir a jot as he comes down the pitch again and launches Bhuvneshwar over the covers for four. Too wide from Bhuvi and Sabbir places it nicely, unfurling a drive through the off side for yet another boundary. Kohli mutters to himself as he marches away from the slips.

Right, it's BBC Music Day today - evidenced by Shaun Ryder doing the tram stop announcements on my commute in this morning - and it's got us thinking.

We want a cricket musical XI. Give us your best and worst musical puns. Joe Roots Manuva and Ram-Steyn are two early favourites from my colleagues. Send them in on Twitter using #bbccricket or text 81111.

  15. Ban 11-1published at 2 overs

    Tamim 6, Sabbir 5

Tamim gets the first boundary of Bangladesh's innings as he greets new bowler Jasprit Bumrah with a clip off his legs that races into the ropes. Ooh, that's emphatic from new man Sabbir Rahman: he plonks a foot down the wicket and lets loose with a free-flowing drive for a second boundary. Bumrah responds with a belter of a delivery that beats Sabbir all ends up.

Good bowling, just outside the off stump, lovely seam position - but it didn't really swing and it's a big drive away from his body by Sarkar.

  17. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 1 over

    Soumya b Bhuvneshwar 0 (Ban 1-1)

Bowled him! Soumya Sarkar falls to the second ball he's faced! He threw a big drive at Bhuvneshwar, playing away from his body, and the ball clipped the inside edge and clattered into the stumps. Off go the zing bails and Soumya has to trudge off.

The umpires have got their away kit on. They've been wearing black all tournament but they've gone for gold this time. They look a bit like fishermen.

The national anthems have been sung, there's a grey sky hanging over Edgbaston, and the Bangladesh batsmen are on their way to the middle. Tamim Iqbal and Soumya Sarkar punch gloves as Bhuvneshwar Kumar goes through his warm-ups.
