  1. Back on at Edgbastonpublished at 18:16 British Summer Time 16 April 2017

    Warwickshire 178 & 36-6 v Yorkshire 381

They've been playing cover hokey-cokey in Birmingham today, but finally the players are back out at Edgbaston.

Is 11 overs enough time for Yorkshire to wrap up victory tonight?

  2. wicket

    Surrey 319 & 43-1 (f/o) v Lancashire 470

Almost the end of the day at The Oval, but just time for Lancashire to bag a Surrey wicket at the start of their second innings.

Rory Burns is out for the second time today with Alex Davies claiming a catch off him again and Surrey are still 109 runs behind.

  6. Million-pound man Stokes shining at the IPLpublished at 18:04 British Summer Time 16 April 2017

Ben Stokes gets Virat Kohli out

England and Durham all-rounder Ben Stokes is clearly unfazed by being the most expensive ever player in the Indian Premier League.

Stokes, who really could have been of use to the hosts at Chester-le-Street today, has just dismissed Virat Kohli.

It's just his second wicket in his fifth match for Rising Pune Supergiants.

  7. Middlesex ahead but made to workpublished at 18:03 British Summer Time 16 April 2017

    Hampshire 438 v Middlesex 356 & 87-3

Kyle Abbott's first spell, taking two wickets, threatened to put this match totally in Hampshire's favour.

The South African found seam movement on a pitch that had been lifeless for the best part of two days.

Abbott should have had a third when Eskinazi was dropped at first slip when on six.

Then Malan was bowled by Wheal not offering a shot to the right-armer, who came round the wicket.

Things have calmed down since then, but whatever happens from now, Hampshire have sent a firm message out.

After a win at Yorkshire last week and now a good performance against the defending champions, they are a much-improved side.

  8. Close of play at Hovepublished at 17:57 British Summer Time 16 April 2017

    Sussex 291 v Kent 304 & 413-5

Sadly no more play possible for the day at Hove.

Bad light has curtailed the third day. They'll come back for the final day tomorrow with Kent holding a lead of 426.

  9. Play resumes at Derbyshirepublished at 17:52 British Summer Time 16 April 2017

    Derbyshire 281 & 94-0 v Northamptonshire 307

Despite the rain's best efforts, the players are back out at Derbyshire with Billy Godleman and Luis Reece looking to extend their unbroken opening stand for the hosts.

14.4 overs are still to be bowled, so we're looking a few late finishes across the country.

    Surrey 319 & 16-0 (f/o) v Lancashire 470

Play has resumed under brighter skies south of the River Thames.

Surrey with another seven overs to negotiate before the close.

    Sussex 291 v Kent 304 & 413-5

This, you feel, is where County Championship does itself few favours.

The lights are on, the umpires are out there, but the players are off.

People have paid to see entertainment, but the light regulations in cricket meant that all had to be curtailed, despite the fact that, although it is gloomy, cricket could be played right now.

Sussex will be happy to stay huddled in their dressing room, as the smiling assassins would have carried on the carnage they were dishing out to the hosts' bowlers before play was delayed.

Sam Northeast (173 not out) and Darren Stevens (71 not out) were sending the ball all over the shop; their 161-run partnership coming at over a run a ball.

By the end, every Sussex fielder was on the boundary. It was remarkable stuff. As it is though, you would expect Kent captain Sam Northeast to declare.

Sussex will either have a tricky half an hour to face this evening, or they will have to emerge tomorrow trying to save the match, or chase what may be a nominal 426.

  13. Play to restart at 18:15 BST at Edgbastonpublished at 17:35 British Summer Time 16 April 2017

    Warwickshire 178 & 36-6 v Yorkshire 381

    Stephan Shemilt
    BBC Sport at Edgbaston

The umpires have had a look and the covers are coming off.

Warwickshire will have to face the music again tonight, there are 10.2 overs to be bowled.

  14. wicket

WICKET Malan (b Wheal) 10published at 17:30 British Summer Time 16 April 2017

    Hampshire 438 v Middlesex 356 & 44-3

Hampshire well and truly in control of this game now as they claim a third wicket in Middlesex's second innings.

Brad Wheal gets through Dawid Malan who foolishly leaves one alone outside off that nips in and takes off stump.

The champions are still 38 runs behind.

  15. rain stops play

Rain stops play at The Ovalpublished at 17:30 British Summer Time 16 April 2017

    Surrey 319 & 16-0 (f/o) v Lancashire 470

The rain is getting the best of most matches now as the players are forced off the pitch at The Oval.

It is probably a welcome respite from the cold for all the players mind.

  16. Just 11.3 overs possible on day three at Chester-le-Streetpublished at 17:26 British Summer Time 16 April 2017

    Durham 162 & 201-7 v Nottinghamshire 305

Amid trips to the pavilion, the loo and the kettle, Peter Kay's Car Share has lifted the spirits in the Durham commentary room today because there's been little else going on.

Only 11.3 overs have been possible on day three, robbing Nottinghamshire of hopes of an early finish.

In that time Ryan Pringle was bowled by Jake Ball for two, while Harry Gurney bowled Stuart Poynter for 17 as the batsman tried to drive the left-hand bowler through the covers and got an inside edge onto the stumps.

Durham will resume the final day on 201-7 in their second innings, leading by only 58 runs, although Keaton Jennings has 82 not out.

  17. Close of play at Chester-le-Streetpublished at 17:22 British Summer Time 16 April 2017

    Durham 162 & 201-7 v Nottinghamshire 305

All over for the day in the north east.

Rain has sadly won the day there with Durham only 58 runs ahead and three second-innings wickets remaining.

So, that's wins for three counties today if you're just joining us.

Worcestershire, Essex and now Gloucestershire beating the elements to seal victory.

    Still six games standing though....

  19. Gloucestershire beat Leicestershire by an innings and six runspublished at 17:10 British Summer Time 16 April 2017

Another result in Division Two and despite Ned Eckersley's defiance, Leicestershire have lost to Gloucestershire at Bristol.

The hosts wrap it up inside three days at Bristol.

Eckersley was the last man out for the Foxes for 85 to go alongside his first-innings 88.

  20. Surrey dismissed and forced to follow onpublished at 16:56 British Summer Time 16 April 2017

    Surrey 319 v Lancashire 470

Surrey's peculiar first innings is all over at 319 as Stephen Parry picks up the last two wickets in consecutive balls.

The hosts are 151 runs behind and will be asked to follow-on.

It looked far from likely before lunch when they were seemingly cruising on a benign surface at 211-2.
