The floodlights are on at Hove, but light is still bad enough for the players to leave the field.

Sussex will be relieved to be off the field, their bowlers have been thrashed to all parts by Sam Northeast who is 173 not out, including 20 fours and four huge sixes in a partnership of 161 in 26.4 overs with Darren Stevens (71 not out).

Kent lead is now 426, a declaration is imminent.

It's all over at Taunton where Essex have recorded a first win of the season with a tremendous run-chase against Somerset.

  7. More of the same for Foxespublished at 16:33 British Summer Time 16 April 2017

    Gloucestershire 466-8 dec v Leicestershire 259 & 175-6

    Isabelle Duncan
    BBC Sport at Bristol

Deja vu for Leicestershire here at Bristol in their second innings finding themselves at 21-3, having been 14-3 in their first innings.

Wickets continued to tumble to 51-5 before the swashbuckling Ned Eckersley, fresh from his valiant 88 this morning, stepped in once more to put on 82 for a sixth-wicket partnership with Ben Raine.

Raine eventually fell to a mad run out with only himself to blame on 42.

Clint McKay the next man in to swing the bat, rode his luck to 28, having been dropped by Liam Norwell at mid-off, off the bowling of a disgruntled Chris Liddle.

Score 175-6 at tea, Eckersley 63 and McKay 28, trailing by 32 runs.

  8. wicket

WICKET Robson (c McManus b Abbott) 8published at 16:29 British Summer Time 16 April 2017

Warwickshire's demise against Yorkshire spared by the elements yet again as rain arrives on the stroke of the delayed tea interval.

William Porterfield and Keith Barker the pair trying to hang in there with the Bears still 167 runs in arrears.

    Somerset 209 & 174 v Essex 129 & 244-2 (target 255)

Down to 11 runs required now for Essex as Tom Westley gets a top edge off a pull off Craig Overton's bowling that sails all the way over the fine leg boundary for six.

  11. Essex within 20 of victorypublished at 16:24 British Summer Time 16 April 2017

    Somerset 209 & 174 v Essex 129 & 237-2 (target 255)

Somerset have decided to take the new ball at Taunton, but it doesn't look like it'll make any difference.

Essex now just need 18 more as Dan Lawrence (9 not out) and Tom Westley (68 not out) look to wrap things up.

  12. wicket

Ben Coad in the wickets again as Rikki Clarke is the man to fall this time.

Adam Lyth takes the catch at second slip and Coad now has figures of 4-13.

Incredible stuff, every ball an event, a wicket expected every time a Yorkshire bowler gets to the end of his run-up.

Ben Coad - now 16 wickets in two weeks - is the real deal, late swing away from the right-hander, mixed with the ability to nip it back off the seam.

Warwickshire are likely to be embarrassed, but just how badly?

Their scorecard - 0,0,1,1,0 - is like an international phone number. They probably need rain to get this one through to tomorrow.

  14. Matthew Hobden Trustpublished at 16:04 British Summer Time 16 April 2017

Really good to welcome Emma Hobden to the commentary box at Hove and hear more about the Matthew Hobden Trust, established in memory of her son Matthew.

The Sussex bowler passed away aged just 22, in January last year.

The Trust provides financial support for young cricketers who otherwise couldn't afford to play the game, @matthobdentrust

    Derbyshire 281 & 84-0 v Northamptonshire 307

    Alex Winter
BBC Radio Northampton sport at Derby

The intensity that was evident before lunch at Derby has fizzled out a little - several Northants fielders are in bobble hats (it's not that cold!) and the ball isn't swinging.

Ben Sanderson limping off the field has not helped the visitors' cause.

Derbyshire's opening pair have nudged the bowling around with greater ease since resumption.

Luis Reece has raised a smart half-century, and they are now trying to build a good lead - you sense that the hosts are the one's controlling the destiny of this game from here.

What run-chase will they offer Northants tomorrow?

Thanks Kalika, great work once again with quite a bit going on in that afternoon session.

I'll bring you up to date with all the scores shortly......

As the players troop off to gobble up some Easter cakes in most of our games, I'm going to hand back over to Adam Williams to talk you through what should be thrilling final session of the day.

I wonder if Essex will get the 33 runs they need for victory before Warwickshire lose their final five wickets.....

  19. Skipper Batty launches counter-attackpublished at 15:49 British Summer Time 16 April 2017

    Surrey 295-8 v Lancashire 470

    Gareth BattyImage source, Getty Images

Commentators Mark Church and Scott Read have been making endless analogies this afternoon about Surrey backing themselves into a cul-de-sac.

That's been pretty accurate as Lancashire's spinners strangled the runs and wrung them virtually dry in the first hour after lunch.

Surrey were 262-8 having been 220-4 at lunch and looking in dire straits.

But, Gareth Batty's (24 not out) decided to go on the offensive in a bid to push them towards 300.
