  1. wicket

WICKET Poynter (b Gurney) 17published at 13:13 British Summer Time 16 April 2017

    Durham 162 & 199-7 v Nottinghamshire 305

It doesn't look like the weather is going to be able to save Durham at Chester-le-Street.

Stuart Poynter is bowled by Harry Gurney, who sends the wicketkeepers off stump flying. The hosts lead by just 56 runs with three second-innings wickets remaining.

  2. Essex on top at lunchpublished at 13:08 British Summer Time 16 April 2017

    Somerset 209 & 174 v Essex 129 & 100-1

It has been a perfect morning for Alastair Cook and Essex as the former England captain's half-century has put the visitors in prime position at Taunton.

They added 91 runs for the loss of just one wicket this morning but the Somerset bowlers have had very little assistance from the pitch.

The lack of wicket-taking opportunities highlights just how poor so many of the shots were by the hosts' batsmen when getting out on day two.

They're playing on a bit longer at Durham until 13:30 BST after an earlier delayed start.

  5. wicket

WICKET Sangakkara (c Livingstone b Parry) 46published at 12:59 British Summer Time 16 April 2017

    Surrey 214-4 v Lancashire 470

Another breakthrough on the stroke of lunch at The Oval for Lancashire.

Kumar Sangakkara is undone by Stephen Parry's spin four runs shy of a half-century.

Ben Foakes is the new man at the crease alongside Dominic Sibley.

    Image caption,

Northeast has been his usual pro-active self at Hove this morning

Sam Northeast has got to a well-deserved 50 as a result of a horrendous misfield.

A pretty innocuous on drive from the Kent captain was heading straight for 19-year-old debutant Delray Rawlins, who rather embarrassingly let it slip through his grasp.

That was, as a club cricketer might say, village.

Northeast will have been delighted with it though, he's rocketed to a half-century in 59 deliveries, and has built a rather lucrative 86-run partnership with Sean Dickson, who is 79 not out.

This pair won't want lunch to come, they're putting Sussex to the sword right now.

There might be a few fielding errors like that outside my office shortly as BBC Caversham CC face Richmond Nomads from 13:30 BST.

We'll try and bring you news from the toss there, if you care.....

  8. wicket

    WICKET Willey (c Ambrose b Hannon-Dalby) 19published at 12:51 British Summer Time 16 April 2017

    Warwickshire 178 v Yorkshire 381

Oliver Hannon-Dalby wraps up the Yorkshire innings as he has David Willey smartly caught behind.

The visitors have a very handy lead of 203 runs and Warwickshire are going to have to bat for a little over four sessions you would say if they're going to save this match.

  9. 'Underwhelming from hosts'published at 12:50 British Summer Time 16 April 2017

    Glamorgan 207 & 223 v Worcestershire 403 & 2-0 (target 28)

    Peter Miller
    BBC Sport at Cardiff

Glamorgan have underwhelmed again with the bat and look like losing in just over two days after their dismal efforts in Northampton last week.

There was 42 runs from Colin Ingram and a fluent 57 from Aneurin Donald, who took a fearful blow on the helmet just before his dismissal.

Worcestershire need 28 to win and should get those before lunch is taken.

  10. Burns denied a ton for Surreypublished at 12:47 British Summer Time 16 April 2017

    Surrey 209-3 v Lancashire 470

Apologies Rory Burns and Surrey fans, I've given him the commentator's curse.

The left-hander falls for 91 as Kyle Jarvis has him caught behind by Alex Davies for Lancashire.

Jarvis also breaks that third-wicket partnership three runs shy of a hundred.

  11. wicket

WICKET Patterson (c Trott b Clarke) 13published at 12:46 British Summer Time 16 April 2017

    Warwickshire 178 v Yorkshire 377-9

The combination of Rikki Clarke and Jonathan Trott strike again as Steven Patterson is caught at first slip for 13.

Yorkshire have a lead of 199 runs and it's looking like a really long way back for Warwickshire now.

  12. 50 runs

Alastair Cook brings up his 50published at 12:46 British Summer Time 16 April 2017

    Somerset 209 & 174 v Essex 129 & 90-1 - target 255

Alastair Cook brings up his second half-century of the match as he brilliantly dissects two fielders on the onside.

Having started the day with a couple of boundaries off Craig Overton, the 32-year-old reached the mark off 92 balls.

The former England captain is the only player to pass 50 so far in this match and he's leading from the front as Essex aim to clinch an impressive victory at Taunton.

  13. 50 runs

50 for Kyle Abbottpublished at 12:44 British Summer Time 16 April 2017

    Hampshire 300-5 v Middlesex 356

Meanwhile, Hampshire have rebuilt quite impressively after that earlier loss of Michael Carberry.

Kyle Abbott has a half-century to his name off 77 balls and has also brought up his side's 300 in the process.

    Michael CarberryImage source, Rex Features

The only story in town this morning was Michael Carberry, but it could have had a fairytail ending rather than just a good one.

True he scored 98, but a hundred, oh a hundred, would have meant so much, not just to him, but to all cricket lovers.

Seeing a gap on the off-side and a ball coming down to him that wasn't quite a half volley, Carberry for once allowed himself the luxury of a drive 'on the up' and it proved his undoing, as he edged behind.

The Middlesex appeal was at best muted. They had to appeal, but you felt they shouldn't.

The ground was silent as Carberry made his way off, but then to a person stood and applauded him off.

It wasn't quite his first championship hundred since coming back from his Cancer diagnosis and subsequent operation, but it felt like it.

  15. Glamorgan dismissedpublished at 12:39 British Summer Time 16 April 2017

    Glamorgan 207 & 223 v Worcestershire 403

Looks like we're in for a potential finish before lunch on day three in Cardiff.

Glamorgan's second innings is all over with Worcestershire bagging their last seven wickets for just 82 runs.

The Pears will need just 28 to win.

  16. Ball makes breakthrough for Nottspublished at 12:36 British Summer Time 16 April 2017

    Durham 162 & 162-6 v Nottinghamshire 305

Durham's struggles continue even after a delayed start to play at Chester-le-Street.

England seamer Jake Ball dismisses Ryan Pringle without a run being added to the overnight score.

The hosts are still just 19 runs ahead with only four second-innings wickets remaining.

  17. 200 runs

200 up for Surreypublished at 12:34 British Summer Time 16 April 2017

    Surrey 203-2 v Lancashire 470

Surrey keep on piling on the runs at The Oval against Lancashire as they pass 200 and record a first batting point.

Rory Burns (89 not out) and Kumar Sangakkara (42 not out) in a potential race to reach a personal milestone.

  18. wicket

    WICKET Browne (c Davies b J Overton) 35published at 12:34 British Summer Time 16 April 2017

    Somerset 209 & 174 v Essex 129 & 82-1

Nick Browne is down on his knees with his head bowed as he knows he's just given away his wicket!

The recalled Jamie Overton sends down a wide ball which Browne has a wild swipe at but only succeeds in sending the ball into the hands of a gleeful looking Steven Davies.

The 26-year-old had just been slightly tied down and that was certainly a shot out of frustration.

  19. Somerset struggle to find a breakthroughpublished at 12:28 British Summer Time 16 April 2017

    Somerset 209 & 174 v Essex 129 & 78-0 - target 255

    Alastair CookImage source, Rex Features

It's been a perfect morning for Essex but a nightmare start to day three for Somerset, as the hosts have piled on the runs on Easter Day without too much trouble.

Alastair Cook has 43 and Nick Browne 35 at the other end which has forced the hosts' captain Tom Abell has been to recall his fast bowlers to the attack with neither Jack Leach or Roelof van der Merwe able to get the wicket they require.

Cook responds by promptly sending Jamie Overton to the boundary. The crowd are quiet at Taunton, with Essex needing another 178 runs for victory.
