    Durham 162 & 162-5 v Nottinghamshire 305

And play has now resumed at Chester-le-Street with England opener Keaton Jennings facing Australian James Pattinson on the third day.

BBC Radio 5 live Sports Extra have live ball-by-ball coverage online and on digital radio.

They'll take lunch there at 13:30 BST providing there is no further rain.

  2. ouch!

Rossouw hit on the handpublished at 12:22 British Summer Time 16 April 2017

    Hampshire 274-5 v Middlesex 356

A painful moment on the field for Hampshire batsman Rilee Rossouw at the Ageas Bowl.

The South African is batting down the order for the hosts after taking a blow on a finger while fielding, now he's been hit on the hand by Toby Roland-Jones.

Bit of a delay in play while he receives some treatment, but he's OK to continue.

  3. 'A game of patience'published at 12:19 British Summer Time 16 April 2017

    Surrey 184-2 v Lancashire 470

An enthralling first hour as Lancashire's disciplined bowling approach with a 7-2 offside field aimed at stifling Surrey was executed superbly by the bowlers and negotiated impressively by Rory Burns and Kumar Sangakkara.

The pitch continues to look a belter to bat on and if Lancashire were aiming to test the batsmen's patience, by drying up runs, then they succeeded.

But equally, Surrey will be hoping their resistance of play at anything wide of off stump will be rewarded later in the day. Both sides should be pleased with their respective tactical approach today.

  5. 12:25 start set for Chester-le-Streetpublished at 12:15 British Summer Time 16 April 2017

    Durham 162 & 162-5 v Nottinghamshire 305

Some encouraging news from the north east.

They're hopefully going to get under way at 12:25 BST after rain delayed the start.

Twenty-two overs have been lost from the day's play.

  6. wicket

WICKET Rashid (c Trott b Clarke) 65published at 12:13 British Summer Time 16 April 2017

    Warwickshire 178 v Yorkshire 359-8

Adil Rashid succumbs to a brilliant diving catch from Jonathan Trott, high to his right, in the slips off Rikki Clarke - who's been rather expensive.

The spinner made an impressive 65 and has helped the visitors to a 181 run lead at Edgbaston.

  7. Burns and Sangakkara press onpublished at 12:12 British Summer Time 16 April 2017

    Surrey 177-2 v Lancashire 470

Bat continues to dominate ball at The Oval and Rory Burns (79 not out) and Kumar Sangakkara (30 not out) are making the most of it for Surrey.

This pair have added 65 runs for the third wicket so far after Scott Borthwick fell to the last ball of the day yesterday.

    Sussex 291 v Kent 304 & 154-3

    Adam Whitty
    BBC Radio Kent at Hove

The commentators at Hove have begun a turf war of sorts at the County Ground.

Yesterday, some chocolatey treats were handed in by the press team in an act of seasonal goodwill.

The Sussex caterers, outraged at this act, returned the next morning with some delicious-looking pastries to prove they were the foodies in town.

This though, is a conflict they are happy to exacerbate.

Glamorgan's problems continue as Worcestershire took early wickets in their efforts to wrap up a three-day win.

Colin Ingram added only a single to his overnight 41 before he edged a testing Joe Leach delivery to keeper Ben Cox, while Chris Cooke fell across a straight one from John Hastings and was lbw for one.

But Aneurin Donald is striking the ball nicely, and a cover-driven four avoided the innings defeat.

The 20-year-old reached his first 50 of the season off 59 balls, including eight boundaries, in the following over.

Ollie Rayner spills an effort at second slip for Middlesex as Kyle Abbott edges a drive off Toby Roland-Jones on 33.

It looks a nasty one as well for Rayner who is going off to have some treatment on his bowling hand.

    Somerset 209 & 108-5 v Essex 129 & 66-0 (target 255)

A change of game once again for BBC Radio 5 live Sports Extra.

With rain still around at Chester-le-Street, they're off to Taunton to tune into Essex's run-chase against Somerset.

  14. wicket

WICKET Carberry (c Simpson b Murtagh) 98published at 11:53 British Summer Time 16 April 2017

    Hampshire 246-5 v Middlesex 356

Agonising moment for Hampshire fans and Michael Carberry.

Two runs shy of what would have been a fantastic comeback century for his side, he edges behind to John Simpson off Tim Murtagh.

Stunned silence around much of the Ageas Bowl as he walks off.

  15. Dickson finds his form despite injurypublished at 11:52 British Summer Time 16 April 2017

    Sussex 291 v Kent 304 & 135-3

    Adam Whitty
    BBC Radio Kent at Hove

The news emerging from the Kent dressing room this morning was that batsman Sean Dickson was unlikely to field in Sussex's second innings, after a hamstring strain re-emerged.

You would have no idea watching him bat now.

He's reached his half century in 89 balls, his second of the match, peppering the County Ground's boundaries with some glorious cover drives throughout his innings.

James Tredwell, the nightwatchman, has just departed after starting solidly, he was bowled by David Wiese. Skipper Sam Northeast has replaced him.

Kent's lead building slowly but surely, it's now 144.

  16. wicket

WICKET Hodd (b Barker) 28published at 11:49 British Summer Time 16 April 2017

    Warwickshire 178 v Yorkshire 331-7

Just as I was about to type that there was yet to be a wicket to fall in Division One, Andy Hodd duly obliges.

The Yorkshire wicketkeeper is bowled by Keith Barker, via an inside edge, for a handy 28.

Warwickshire will be hoping they can mop up the tail quickly and restrict the visitors to less than 400 at Edgbaston.

  17. Northants secure narrow leadpublished at 11:46 British Summer Time 16 April 2017

    Derbyshire 281 & 3-0 v Northamptonshire 307

    Alex Winter
BBC Radio Northampton sport at Derby

Despite a horrendous forecast, we got away on time at Derbyshire and Northants achieved exactly what they wanted at the start of day three.

Thanks to eight byes, the 300 was raised and a third batting point, which would have been the minimum target given the good batting conditions yesterday - but it proved quite a struggle.

The visitors have a slender first-innings lead of 26 and the cloud has returned to the Racecourse ground - exactly what they want to try and bowl Derbyshire out for a second time. The game is perfectly poised.

    Nick BrowneImage source, Rex Features

Nick Browne had remained in Alastair Cook's shadow for much of the first 40 minutes of play but the Essex opener took advantage of Craig Overton pitching the ball up, sending two sumptuous drives to the boundary rope.

It took the visitors past 50 and the visitors' target at Taunton is now under 200. Somerset are desperate for a breakthrough and Roelof van der Merwe is brought into the attack.
