What a game and what a fantastic display of batting from both teams.

A game of four centuries and 740+ runs finishes with Nottinghamshire the victors.

    That's the highest-ever run-chase in a 50-over competition in this country.

    Notts 373-5 (49.3 overs) v Essex 370-5

Two fours in two balls finish it off for Nottinghamshire and get them home in this record run-chase.

Not the most convincing two shots in Samit Patel's innings, but he won't care one jot.

He finishes on 122 not out and his side have won it with three balls to spare.

They will go to Lord's on 1 July and face either Worcestershire or Surrey in the final.

Essex will trudge off and wonder how they couldn't defend 370.

Dot ball to start it and then a four from Samit Patel takes it down to two needed off four balls....

    Patel 114, Read 0

We're heading into the last over...

Chris Read makes an absolute hash of his first three balls as he swings and misses.

So, Essex take it into the last over, but one big hit will seal it for Notts.

  9. wicket

WICKET Mullaney (c Foster b Wagner) 111published at 48.3 overs

    Notts 365-5

Wicket time finally for Essex, but you feel it won't change the outcome of this epic game.

Steven Mullaney goes as he tries to ramp one over James Foster off Neil Wagner, but he only edges behind.

Still six to win with nine balls to come.

  10. 6 runs

Six from Mullaney once more!published at 48.1 overs

    Notts 363-4

Down to single figures required now for Notts as Mullaney hammers a full toss over the long-on fence.

  11. dropped catch

Dropped catch by Walterpublished at 47.5 overs

    Notts 357-4 (14 needed off 13 balls)

And that's is pretty much that for Essex...

Paul Walter drops Samit Patel at extra cover and he should have held that.

Another life for Patel and Notts are nearly there...

  12. 100 runs

100 for Steven Mullaneypublished at 47.2 overs

    Notts 351-4

What a way to get to your first List A century in your career.

A huge six hammered over the fence by Steven Mullaney. It's come off 71 balls with eight fours and five sixes.

  13. Notts 344-4 (27 needed off 18 balls)published at 47 overs

    Patel 109, Mullaney 97

Neil Wagner returns with the ball for Essex. Nearly deceives both Steven Mullaney and Samit Patel with slower balls.

Dot balls all of a sudden come after a long drought for Essex. Just four runs off that over.

    A late twist perhaps?

  14. Notts 340-4 (31 needed off 24 balls)published at 46 overs

    Patel 107, Mullaney 95

Paul Walter almost runs Samit Patel out with an attempted deflection off his own bowling.

He got too much of a hand on it and took it past the stumps with Patel stranded. Three dots balls in a row just build some pressure for Essex.

But, Patel relieves it and finds a timely four as he heaves a shot away into the legside.

  15. Notts 333-4 (38 needed off 30 balls)published at 45 overs

    Patel 103, Mullaney 92

Four more from Steven Mullaney at the start of Ashar Zaidi's latest over as he pulls into the legside and moves into the 90s himself now.

This partnership goes beyond 150 off just 119 balls. Essex need something special to halt this victory charge.

  16. Notts 324-4 (47 needed off 36 balls)published at 44 overs

    Patel 100, Mullaney 86

    Notts 323-4

Ravi Bopara keeps on plugging away for Essex and he nearly gets Samit Patel caught at extra cover.

Paul Walter can't get down to hold on to a sharp chance, but you have to take those at this stage of a game.

But, a couple of balls later - Samit is there and has a century off 106 balls with nine fours.

He celebrates with a big punch of the air as he completes the single. Huge knock.
