  1. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 29 overs

    Siriwardena b Marsh 33 (SL 118-4)

That's a big, potentially decisive, scalp for England.

Siriwardena, who had just chipped a sumptuous four back down the ground with minimal backlift, is deceived by the flight of Laura Marsh and has her timbers disturbed.

  2. SL 113-3published at 28 overs

    Siriwardena 29, Monodara 16

It really is idyllic at Taunton today. Rolling hills and church steeples in the background, a hazy sunshine, the sound of leather on willow and the rustle of picnic boxes. Oh, and some terrible 1990s dance music between overs. It really does jar - the cricket and venue does the job nicely enough.

If the DJ fancies some Smooth FM-style classics, then I'll retract the above statement.

  3. SL 110-3published at 27 overs

Here's that important breakthrough from Laura Marsh, who expertly deceived Sri Lanka's most set batter. After giving away a succession of boundaries in the same over as the wicket, she's back to her miserly best now with five dots and a single. Sri Lanka need to take the handbrake off soon.

  4. SL 109-3published at 26 overs

    SL won toss

    Come on, skip.

Heather Knight chucks one down the leg side which is rightly called wide. She soon straightens up and delivers a tidy over which brings the odd two and a couple of ones. Sri Lanka being kept firmly in check.

Laura Marsh's nickname is Bog, for obvious reasons. "Well bowled, Bog," says Sarah Taylor behind the stumps. Uppish from Siriwardene, just defeating the dive of the cover fielder. Bog Marsh throws her hands in the air in frustration. Here's Marc Higginson.

New Zealand have laid the foundations for a good total against Australia at Bristol. Suzie Bates (45*) is closing in on a half-century with the score currently 85-2 from 22 overs.

India are playing a little more cautiously against Pakistan at Derby and are currently 60-1 off 20 overs.

West Indies remain in a spot of bother against South Africa after losing their sixth wicket with the score on 38 after 20 overs. Chedean Nation (21*) the only batter troubling the scorers.

  7. SL 94-3published at 24 overs

Never heard of it, Steve, but I'll give it a go. The third of England's off-spinner's, Heather Knight, comes into the attack, bowling behind some pretty garish red sunglasses. Two singles from the skipper's first over. More bad dance music. Someone needs to take this DJ away.

Dilani Manodara is the new batter, announcing her arrival with back-to-back boundaries. Odd over. Four, wicket, four, four. The DJ is playing Blue by Eiffel 65. No, no, no.

Former England opener Caroline Foster: "A brilliant breakthrough for England. Some turn for Marsh and a great catch from Taylor behind the stumps."

    Perera c Taylor b Marsh 46 (SL 84-3)

England strike again! Laura Marsh, back in the team, removes the dangerous Hasini Perera. Round the wicket, hint of turn, thin edge behind, Sarah Taylor does the rest. England chipping away.

  12. SL 80-2published at 22 overs

The game has settled into an off-spinny, nudgy rhythm. Still Hazell, the mid-over prodathon disrupted when Siriwardena lofts down the ground for a couple. She's got something about her, Siriwardena, demonstrated when she throws the hands through the final ball of the over to get four to extra cover.

There are a lot of left-handers in the Sri Lanka line-up today so that's why Laura Marsh got the nod in the side after missing out in the first two matches. There should be some turn and bounce in this pitch for her.

  14. SL 72-2published at 21 overs

Double off-spin as Laura Marsh joins the attack. Marsh, a former medium-pacer, has a loping, lengthy run-up. However, she's giving the ball plenty of loop, taking the pace off. Three from an over which ends with a Heather Knight chase to the cover fence.

  16. SL 69-2published at 20 overs

    Perera 40, Siriwardene 10

Still Hazell, round the wicket to the diminutive Perera. It's strange that Perera is in a yellow shirt while her batting partner is in a blue sweater. Hazell very deliberately places the ball in her right hand and twirls the ball down. She's wearing an extremely large watch.

  17. SL 68-2published at 19 overs

    Perera 39, Siriwardene 10

Have some of that! Siriwardene gives it some humpty, down on one knee to wallop Sciver for a one-bounce four over mid-on. Sciver, tied-back hair bobbing up and down, looks fairly angry at being given such treatment. Time for drinks.

England can't rest on their laurels here. Perera has played confidently so far.

  19. SL 62-2published at 18 overs

Sri Lanka's players are sitting beyond the advertising boards, looking a little glum. Danni Hazell adjusts here field with a wave of the left arm. Five singles from the over. So far today Hazell has dropped a catch and had a catch dropped from her bowling.

  20. SL 57-2published at 17 overs

Taunton is lovely. If you were to draw a cricket ground, Taunton would be it. Church peeking over on of the stands. Trees lazily wafting in the breeze. Cider and pasties. Only from from Sciver's over. She has figures of 2-8 from four.
