WICKET Adams (run out) 9published at 15:22 British Summer Time 29 June 2017

    Hampshire 211-9 dec & 24-1 v Somerset 147

    Oh, a wicket at Hampshire.

    Jimmy Adams is run out.

The opener slips looking for a third run and can't make his ground.

Rilee Rossouw, in desperate need of a score, is in at three.

  2. Derbyshire edging towards first win?published at 15:18 British Summer Time 29 June 2017

    Glamorgan 237 & 32-3 v Derbyshire 288 & 160

Derbyshire have their third wicket and thoughts of a first County Championship win of the season may well have entered the minds of the players.

It's turning at Cardiff and Jeevan Mendis has picked up a second wicket, having Owen Morgan caught at slip. They need seven more wickets. Glamorgan want 180 runs.

  3. Postpublished at 15:12 British Summer Time 29 June 2017

    Essex 542-3 dec v Middlesex 246 & 76-3

Nick Compton and Paul Stirling have just settled things down for Middlesex over the last half an hour or so.

Essex's giant paceman Paul Walter has replaced Mohammad Amir, Simon Harmer has been on from the start.

There are still 78 overs remaining.

  4. 'Not really drying weather'published at 15:10 British Summer Time 29 June 2017

Yorkshire 27-1 v Surrey 516-7 dec - start delayed, wet outfield

    Mark Church
    BBC Radio London commentator

A couple of inspections from the umpires already but with the amount of rain we have had in the past 24 hours, there is concern about the bowlers run up from the Kirkstall Lane End.

Lunch is now at 15:30 BST but it is not really drying weather in Leeds and we will have to wait and see if we get any play today.

    Hampshire 211-9 dec & 15-0 v Somerset 147

It appears Hampshire have settled for the draw at the Ageas Bowl.

Jimmy Adams and Liam Dawson going along at less than two an over and lead by just 79.

Maybe I won't keep such a close eye on this one!

  7. Gloucestershire set 351 to winpublished at 15:03 British Summer Time 29 June 2017

    Sussex 358-9d & 142-1 dec v Gloucestershire 150-1 dec

    Adrian Harms
    Sports reporter, BBC Sussex

So after a farcical hour's play in which Sussex scored 142-1 we have a run-chase, with Gloucestershire needing 351 in 75 overs at 4.68 runs per over.

Harry Finch (74 not out) and Luke Wells (44 not out) certainly dined out on the low-quality bowling.

  8. 'Hameed not ruled out for England'published at 15:00 British Summer Time 29 June 2017

Interesting news from England coach Trevor Bayliss, who tells BBC's Test Match Special that Haseeb Hameed hasn't been ruled out of the first Test against South Africa next Thursday.

The Lancashire opener is yet to pass 50 in the County Championship this season and has been in poor form. Will England stick by their man?

Bayliss also gives a hint that Yorkshire captain Gary Ballance is in line for a recall, after a real return to form this season.

  9. Compton the key?published at 14:57 British Summer Time 29 June 2017

    Essex 542-3 dec v Middlesex 246 & 62-3

Nick Compton isn't enjoying the best of seasons so far - averaging just over 21 in six innings.

But the opener is digging in at Chelmsford with 23 off 70 balls.

You feel he'll have to be there at the end of the day if Middlesex are going to escape with a draw.

  10. 'Nerve-jangling stuff in Cardiff'published at 14:52 British Summer Time 29 June 2017

    Glamorgan 237 18-2 v Derbyshire 288 & 160

    Nick Webb
    BBC Wales Sport

It's been nerve-jangling stuff in Cardiff as Glamorgan inch towards a target of 212 on a turning pitch, with Derbyshire applying plenty of pressure through 16-year-old spinner Hamidullah Qadri.

Nightwatchman Timm van der Gugten hoicked the youngster to mid-wicket where Luis Reece took a fine diving catch.

Nick Selman almost drove a low catch to mid-wicket off Qadri with Wayne Madsen unable to cling on to a difficult catch, and also nearly played on to Tony Palladino.

There may be a few bitten nails for both sides, with Derbyshire winless in 710 days of Championship cricket, and Glamorgan scoring at a pedestrian rate.

  11. Early tea at Headingley & Edgbastonpublished at 14:48 British Summer Time 29 June 2017

The players are taking an early tea at 15:30 BST in Leeds and Birmingham.

Fingers crossed for some better news later.

  12. Stuart Broad fitness updatepublished at 14:45 British Summer Time 29 June 2017

Stuart Broad has been left worrying about his place in Nottinghamshire's One-Day Cup final against Surrey and England's Test side ever since injuring his heel last week.

The fast bowler was seen out following the conclusion of play between Notts and Kent last night undergoing a fitness test.

It appears to have done the trick, with England coach Trevor Bayliss telling BBC's Test Match Special that Broad is expected to be fit for both games. Great news.

  13. 'What would martians make of this?'published at 14:43 British Summer Time 29 June 2017

    Sussex 358-9 dec & 109-1 v Gloucestershire 150-1 dec

    Bob Hunt
    BBC Radio Gloucestershire

A flying saucer has landed at Hove, aliens have disembarked and they want to know what's going on.

    Difficult to explain.

The team with the ball are deliberately bowling rubbish so the team with the bat can get a lot of runs quickly so there can be a good game.

An Australian gets his first ever wicket and at the other end a wicketkeeper, Phil Mustard, is looking for his second.

The Australian, Cameron Bancroft, is bowling to five slips and a gully.

    Strange times.

  15. What should Hampshire do?published at 14:40 British Summer Time 29 June 2017

    Hampshire 211-9 dec & 7-0 v Somerset 147

Jimmy Adams and Liam Dawson are opening the batting for Hampshire - but it's going to be a tough ask to get a positive result.

Hampshire lead by 71, but with so much time lost to rain, a win for either side looks unlikely.

Unless the hosts have a bit of a slog! Or the captains confer. I'll keep a close eye on proceedings.

WICKET Malan (b Harmer) 1published at 14:33 British Summer Time 29 June 2017

    Essex 542-3 dec v Middlesex 246 & 51-3

Oh my word, Simon Harmer strikes again.

Middlesex's stand-in captain Dawid Malan tries to cut a straight one, misses, and is on his way.

Harmer has 3-16 and eight wickets in the match. Division One leaders Essex are rampant.

  18. Second wicket for 16-year-old spinnerpublished at 14:33 British Summer Time 29 June 2017

    Division Two update

Hamidullah Qadri, Derbyshire's 16-year-old spinner, has a second County Championship wicket. Luis Reece has taken a wonderful catch to dismiss Glamorgan nightwatchman Timm van der Gugten. Glamorgan are 12-2, needing another 200 runs to win.

Sussex are busy setting Gloucestershire a score to chase in Hove. They're 78-1 off just 9.2 overs and have a lead of 286 runs.

Leicestershire are 69-2, requiring another 325 runs to beat Northants, who are well on top, needing eight wickets to win.

Nottinghamshire are praying for the rain to stop at Trent Bridge, where they have Kent 214-7, needing two more wickets and a nominal amount of runs to wrap up a sixth win of the season.

Durham versus Worcestershire is no more, denied by rain.

  19. 'Early tea at Notts'published at 14:29 British Summer Time 29 June 2017

    Notts 371 v Kent 180 & 214-7 - start delayed, rain

    Dave Bracegirdle
    BBC Radio Nottingham commentator

Steady drizzle has set in at Trent Bridge, causing a delayed start to the final day of Nottinghamshire’s match against Kent.

The umpires have announced that an early tea will be taken at 3.10pm and they will continue to monitor the conditions throughout the afternoon.

Notts know that they require only two Kent wickets, with the visitors on 214-7 - a lead of 23. Darren Stevens won’t be taking any further part in the contest after retiring hurt yesterday. He is recuperating under the concussion protocol after being struck by a Harry Gurney bouncer yesterday evening.

  20. wicket

WICKET Leach (c McManus b Berg) 2published at 14:27 British Summer Time 29 June 2017

    Hampshire 211-9 dec v Somerset 147

Somerset's collapse is complete at the Ageas Bowl as Gareth Berg finishes off their first innings.

Jack Leach edges the Hampshire seamer behind.

Somerset have lost their last nine wickets for 45.- Hampshire have a lead of 64.

Unfortunately rain appears to be the only winner in this one.
