Extraordinary! That's one of the most bizarre catches you will ever see...

Stevie Eskinazi nicks Simon Harmer towards Alastair Cook at slip, Cook parries it towards Varun Chopra at leg slip and Chopra dives forward and clings on with one hand.

When your luck's in, it's in! That's 40 WICKETS for the South African spinner this season.

  2. Sussex setting up a chasepublished at 14:22 British Summer Time 29 June 2017

    Sussex 358-9d & 45-1 v Gloucestershire 150-1 dec

Cricket can be a strange game sometimes.

After Gloucestershire declared overnight, Sussex have set about adding some quick runs to make a game of it down in Hove. Gloucestershire have given their premier bowlers some time off, allowing Will Tavare and Cameron Bancroft to send the ball down the other end.

Delray Rawlins gave opening batsman Bancroft his first ever first-class wicket, leaving Harry Finch and Luke Wells to get on with it. How many will they leave the away side to chase? They currently lead by 253 - it's a balancing act for Sussex skipper Ben Brown.

Match abandoned at Durhampublished at 14:18 British Summer Time 29 June 2017

    Durham 197 v Worcestershire 367

The umpires have called things off at Chester-le-Street, it's just too wet after yesterday's deluge and more rain today.

Worcestershire will be frustrated, but they'll still take 12 points back to New Road.

    Durham earn eight.

  5. 'Drizzle set in'published at 14:14 British Summer Time 29 June 2017

    Warwickshire 321 v Lancashire 273 & 178-4 - start delayed, rain

    Mike Taylor
    BBC WM

Both Warwickshire and Lancashire, for contrasting reasons, would really like to get this game moving today, but the weather is against them for now.

Until lunchtime it looked to be a similar day to yesterday - hardly pleasant for playing or spectating, but playable at least.

At about 1.30pm a light but persistent drizzle drifted over the ground and it remains in place.

Regrettably, it appears fairly set in for now, with the high-rise buildings of the city centre partly obscured from view by the low cloud cover.

The match was seemingly on course for a slow-burning nailbiter, but - with the slow scoring rates in this match in mind in particular - this drizzle could stop it smouldering altogether quite quickly if it hangs around.

    Essex 542-3 dec v Middlesex 246 & 44-1

If Middlesex are going to lose today, they're going to go down with a fight it seems.

Nick Compton biffs Simon Harmer for six in just his second over of the day.

A statement of intent from the Middlesex opener.

The two captains have got together and are looking to set up a run chase at Hove.

Gloucestershire have declared, leaving Sussex to put on some runs and set up a run-chase.

Having got off to a flying start, Sussex lead by 236 and it's now a case of what total Gloucestershire will chase and in how many overs.

WICKET Davey (c McManus b Dawson) 5published at 14:09 British Summer Time 29 June 2017

    Hampshire 211-9 dec v Somerset 135-9

Another spinner is among the wickets straight away - this time at the Ageas Bowl.

Liam Dawson strikes to leave Somerset nine down.

Josh Davey prods the England man behind and Lewis McManus holds on.

Somerset's last eight wickets have fallen for 33 runs. That's some collapse.

  12. Darren Stevens taken to hospitalpublished at 13:59 British Summer Time 29 June 2017

    Notts 371 v Kent 180 & 214-7 - start delayed, rain

    Darren StevensImage source, Getty Images

Kent all-rounder Darren Stevens was taken to hospital last night after being struck on the back of the head by a bouncer.

Stevens retired hurt and went to hospital as a precaution having ducked into a short ball by Nottinghamshire's Harry Gurney.

The 41-year-old was suffering with vision in his left eye and from a headache and will play no further part in Kent's game at Trent Bridge today.

"Early assessment suggests concussion," Kent coach Matt Walker said last night. "We'll get him off to hospital and get him checked out because he's not 100% at all."

What would your team for the first Test be? There has been quite a lot of talk about Nick Browne partnering Alastair Cook at the top of the order. Is Gary Ballance in line for a recall?

Durham 197 v Worcestershire 367 - start delayed, wet outfield

    Dave Bradley

The rain has stopped and the groundstaff have begun the mop-up at The Riverside under leaden skies.

There is a vast amount of water on the covers and puddles on the outfield.

Worcestershire will be keen to play with a first-innings lead of 170, but any more rain could lead to an early call off.

Bad news for Jake Ball, who will miss Nottinghamshire's One-Day Cup final against Surrey on Saturday and England's first Test against South Africa, which starts next Thursday.

The Notts fast bowler picked up a knee injury on Tuesday evening during their game against Kent and a subsequent scan has revealed damage that will keep him out for two weeks.

Away from Chelmsford, it was another frustrating day weather wise on Wednesday, as Headingley and Chester-le-Street saw complete washouts.

Other matches were severely restricted by the rain.

Thankfully it's looking much better in Leeds and elsewhere today, so we should get to see England Test captain Joe Root resume his innings at some point.

However, there are a few concerns with the bowler's run ups so there will be a delayed start.
