  1. Clarke the key Worcestershire wicketpublished at 16:08 British Summer Time 7 August 2017

    Sussex 430 v Worcestershire 146-5

    Adrian Harms
    Sports reporter, BBC Sussex

Two wickets just before tea have swung this game firmly in Sussex's favour after a Joe Clarke counter-attack had taken Worcestershire to 137-3

Much now depends on Clarke with another 143 needed to avoid the follow-on, which Sussex would surely enforce with bad weather forecast tomorrow.

  2. wicket

WICKET Coad (c Harmer b Amir) 28published at 16:05 British Summer Time 7 August 2017

    Yorkshire 113 & 131-9 v Essex 231

Mohammad Amir has 10 wickets in the match and his second five-wicket haul as Ben Coad's cameo comes to end after he edges to second slip.

Ryan Sidebottom comes to the crease with Yorkshire's lead on 13. How many can the hosts set Essex?

A hugely impressive half-century, under extremely testing conditions, off 114 balls - which included four fours and a big six.

However, with the hosts leading by just 11 runs it seems all of Leaning's hard work will be in vain.

Another 50 runs or so will at least give the Yorkshire bowlers an outside chance perhaps?

  4. The scores at teapublished at 16:00 British Summer Time 7 August 2017

That is finally tea in most of our matches apart, so let's have a recap of how things stand.

  5. Hameed reaches tea unbeatenpublished at 15:56 British Summer Time 7 August 2017

    Lancashire 149 & 149-1 v Hampshire 224

It's been near enough a perfect day for Lancashire so far.

After limiting Hampshire's lead to a manageable total, Alex davies' 97 and Haseeb Hameed's unbeaten 24 have seen them match their first-innings total with nine wickets in hand.

The lead is already up to 74.

  6. Tea, anyone?published at 15:51 British Summer Time 7 August 2017

I'm not sure what the reason for the delay is, but only Leicestershire and Durham have taken tea so far, with the rest of the 14 teams still soldiering on a little while longer.

  7. Yorkshire reach parity with Essexpublished at 15:50 British Summer Time 7 August 2017

    Yorkshire 113 & 118-8 v Essex 231

Despite regularly losing his batting partner, Jack Leaning is batting on beautifully as he helps Yorkshire reach parity with Essex, thanks largely to his unbeaten 44.

The only downside for the hosts is that they only have two wickets remaining and are staring down the barrel of a heavy defeat at Scarborough.

  8. Lamb and Woakes building big leadpublished at 15:46 British Summer Time 7 August 2017

    Warwickshire 126 & 210-5 v Middlesex 161

Warwickshire's sixth-wicket partnership of 71 is helping them build towards a significant first-innings lead at Lord's.

Matthew Lamb (46 not out) and Chris Woakes (40 not out) have batted fluently as they took the visitors second innings score past 200.

The lead over Middlesex is now up to 175.

  9. 50 runs

Fifty for Somerset's Daviespublished at 15:38 British Summer Time 7 August 2017

    Somerset 207-4 v Surrey

Somerset's Steven Davies joins teammate Tom Abell in surpassing 50, taking 81 balls to bring up his half-century.

Surrey's decision to bowl first this morning seems to have backfired.

  10. High quality innings from Clarkepublished at 15:35 British Summer Time 7 August 2017

    Sussex 430 v Worcestershire 123-3

    Adrian Harms
    Sports reporter, BBC Sussex

Joe Clarke is showing why he is tipped to play for England.

The 21-year-old has raced to 50 in just 37 balls, with a series of magnificent shots all round the wicket. His cover driving in particular is of the highest quality.

  11. 150 runs

Hales 150 makes England casepublished at 15:31 British Summer Time 7 August 2017

    Derbyshire 220 v Nottinghamshire 359-5

You're probably aware that there might be a vacant spot at the top of the England order, with Keaton Jennings having struggled to make runs against South Africa.

Alex Hales is doing his best to put himself in test consideration, reaching 150 from 156 balls, with 27 fours and one six.

Division Two leaders Nottinghamshire are 139 runs ahead of Derbyshire and well on course for another important victory.

  12. Abell and Davies steady the shippublished at 15:25 British Summer Time 7 August 2017

    Somerset 189-4 v Surrey

    Mark Church
    BBC Radio London commentator

Tom Abell and Steven Davies are putting together a very decent partnership.

Abell is beginning to look comfortable and Davies has played with typical elegance against his former county.

The pitch is slow and the runs have started to flow as Somerset take control of the afternoon session.

  13. wicket

WICKET Davies (c Vince b Dawson) 97published at 15:20 British Summer Time 7 August 2017

    Lancashire 149 & 129-1 v Hampshire 224

No century, but once he's over the disappointment, Alex Davies will be proud of this innings.

The Lancashire batsman edges Liam Dawson onto his pad and is caught by stand-in keeper James Vince after a spellbinding knock, hitting 16 fours and a six in his 92-ball knock.

Opening partner Haseeb Hameed is still at the crease, with just 18 runs to his name.

  14. wicket

WICKET Brooks (c Wheater b Harmer) 17published at 15:19 British Summer Time 7 August 2017

    Yorkshire 113 & 86-8 v Essex 231

Spinner Simon Harmer comes into the attack and ends Jack Brooks' resistance as the Yorkshire seamer is caught at short leg by Adam Wheater.

Essex need another two wickets for victory, while the hosts need to score another 28 runs to make the visitors bat again.

  15. Warwickshire batsmen resistpublished at 15:18 British Summer Time 7 August 2017

    Wawickshire 126 & 179-5 v Middlesex 161

    Clive Eakin
    BBC Coventry & Warwickshire Sport

Warwickshire have shown more authority and decisiveness in their second innings and this match looks certain now to go into a third day.

There is still some unpredictable bounce on a green Lord's pitch but perhaps less lateral movement making batting conditions a little less treacherous.

Whatever the final outcome, Warwickshire will take some encouragement from the application displayed by two of their young batsmen in this second innings.

Andrew Umeed worked hard for his 3,0 though he'll have been disappointed to eventually be dismissed not offering a shot. Matt Lamb has taken advantage of some good fortune to reach 34 not out.

  16. Northants spinners enjoy conditionspublished at 15:15 British Summer Time 7 August 2017

    Northamptonshire 343 v Gloucestershire 170-5

    Alex Winter
    BBC Radio Northampton Sport

An intriguing period here with two spinners operating in tandem. The on-loan left-arm spinner Simon Kerrigan has probed away well and the off-spin of Rob Keogh has produced a double breakthrough in the second hour after lunch to put Northamptonshire on top.

This is a dry wicket and some help is there for the spinners. Criminally, Gloucestershire lost both set batsmen and after two half-century stands, they need another partnership to get back into the game. It's not the the longest batting line-up they possess this week.

  17. Davies racing towards centurypublished at 15:09 British Summer Time 7 August 2017

    Lancashire 149 & 114-0 v Hampshire 224

This is sensational batting from Alex Davies.

Lancashire's opening batsman has 88 runs from 80 balls, giving his side a very handy 40-run lead.

Haseeb Hameed is doing a useful job at the other end, with a rather more sensible 17 from 59.

  18. Durham break their record score in Leicesterpublished at 15:02 British Summer Time 7 August 2017

    Durham 525-8d v Leicestershire

I have given up trying to second-guess Durham skipper Paul Collingwood and declarations, but there was clearly an element of trying to get things done quickly after lunch.

Once Cameron Steel departed for 224, the fifth-highest score by a Durham batsman, they started to accelerate.

Neil Dexter helped himself to a 5-for in the process, with Michael Richardson edging him to second slip on 82 and Matty Potts doing the same for two.

But with Twitter starting to suggest it may be time to declare, I said the only reason Durham were still batting was to break their record score of 523 against Leicestershire, set here on their last championship visit - and to this date their only win - in 2005.

That match also included a double century from Mike Hussey on debut.

Paul Coughlin hit a six to take Durham to 524 and with a single added on the final ball of the 142nd over they walked off at 525-8.

Steel is the first player from California to score a double-hundred in FC cricket!

  19. Brooks resists Essex seamerspublished at 14:59 British Summer Time 7 August 2017

    Yorkshire 113 & 71-7 v Essex 231

The two Jack's are holding firm for Yorkshire as Leaning (29 not out) and Brooks (12 not out) have added 15 runs for the eighth wicket.

The hosts still trail by 47 runs at Scarborough and Mohammad Amir is looping the ball all over the place.

  20. Lamb plugging alongpublished at 14:46 British Summer Time 7 August 2017

    Warwickshire 126 & 156-5 v Middlesex 161

I am reluctant to write anything too positive about Matthew Lamb because I'm sure he will get out seconds later, such the curse that I have become.

However, the young Warwickshire batsman is batting patiently, punishing the odd bad ball from the Middlesex bowlers, as the visitors look to take their lead past 150.
