  6. Rain affecting Northants chargepublished at 11:53 British Summer Time 7 August 2017

    Northamptonshire 343 v Gloucestershire 19-2

    Alex Winter
    BBC Radio Northampton sport

Cloudier morning at Wantage Road - we've already had a brief rain delay - and a better day to bowl than yesterday. It's a great chance for Northamptonshire to get on top in the game after putting up 343, a solid score but one which everyone here felt may be a little light.

Will Tavare has been struck a nasty blow on the elbow - a sign that this wicket is not playing true and is expected to become trickier as the game goes on. Both sides are playing specialist spinners as a result.

Northants may need an outstanding session to have a chance of winning this game with the forecast so poor for the next two days of this game.

  9. Trott offers consolidationpublished at 11:45 British Summer Time 7 August 2017

    Warwickshire 126 & 46-1 v Middlesex 161

Jonathan Trott seems to have decided he needs to take the initiative at Lord's, striking two fours in his run-a-ball 13.

Andy Umeed to going a tad slower, having just hit his fourth four off the 42nd ball of his innings.

The visitors have managed to edge into an ever-so slender lead of 11.

    Lancashire 149 v Hampshire 169-6

  11. rain stops play

Rain stops play at Northantspublished at 11:33 British Summer Time 7 August 2017

    Division Two update

This isn't what we want to see.

The rain is falling at Northampton, taking the teams off with Gloucestershire 16-1 in reply to Northamptonshire's 343.

Nottinghamshire are 116-3 in response to Derbyshire's 220, with Samit Patel unlucky to be run out this morning, as a shot was deflected onto his stump at the non-striker's end.

Chris Jordan has fallen to a Josh Tongue yorker for 58 to leave Sussex 362-8 against Worcestershire, while Durham are 350-4 against Leicestershire.

  12. wicket

    Yorkshire 113 v Essex 216-9

Mohammad Amir's entertaining and eventful innings has come to an end.

After scoring 22 and sharing a 52-run ninth-wicket partnership with captain Ryan ten Doeschate, the Pakistani seamer edges an out-swinging ball from Ryan Sidebottom.

Ten Doeschate needs another 24 runs to reach his century, can Jamie Porter survive long enough to help his skipper get there?

  13. Patel's woes at Derbyshire continuepublished at 11:29 British Summer Time 7 August 2017

    Derbsyhire 220 v Nottinghamshire 105-3

    Dave Bracegirdle
    BBC Radio Nottingham commentator

Samit Patel must hate batting at Derby as he has been unfortunately run out in the early stages of the second morning.

Four years ago, on Nottinghamshire’s last County Championship visit, he badly slipped over on a greasy surface and was run out, the video of which went viral.

This morning, backing up, he was stranded after Steven Mullaney’s straight drive brushed the fingertips of bowler Tony Palladino and ricocheted onto the stumps.

Patel made 25 and Alex Hales is the new man at the crease, looking to emulate his white ball form in the longer format.

  14. wicket

    Warwickshire 126 & 27-1 v Middlesex 161

Not the start to his Warwickshire career that Dominic Sibley would have wanted.

The visitors' opener gives John Simpson dismissal number 401 as Sibley prods forward at a delivery from Tim Murtagh and gives the wicket-keeper a simple catch.

Are another 20 wickets going to fall at Lord's today?

  15. Trescothick makes fast startpublished at 11:24 British Summer Time 7 August 2017

  19. Bowlers run riot at Lord'spublished at 11:08 British Summer Time 7 August 2017

    Warwickshire 126 & 12-0 v Middlesex 161

20 wickets tumbled on day one of Middlesex and Warwickshire's match at Lord's on Sunday as spectators were treated to three innings.

Steven Finn's three wickets in 18 minutes after lunch helped the Division One title holders to bundle bottom-of-the-table visitors out for just 126.

However, Ryan Sidebottom - Australia's answer and namesake to the former England seamer - took 4-29 to restrict the hosts to 161 and leave Warwickshire with four overs to see out to the close of play.

An elegant 40 from hosts' captain James Vince helped put his side in a commanding position at the end of day one.
