  1. Fantastic fielding foils Fellpublished at 14:46 British Summer Time 7 August 2017

    Sussex 430 v Worcestershire 63-3

    Adrian Harms
    Sports reporter, BBC Sussex

Having reached 39-0 in relative comfort, Worcestershire have lost three quick wickets, the latest Tom Fell to a quite magnificent diving effort low to his left by Jofra Archer at mid-wicket.

Earlier today, Fell himself had also held a superb catch at mid-wicket.

They do say, 'what goes around comes around'.

  2. 50 runs

Davies reaches 50published at 14:41 British Summer Time 7 August 2017

    Lancashire 149 & 73-0 v Hampshire 224

Alex Davies is not hanging about.

The Lancashire opener has struck 10 fours, racing to 55 from only 49 deliveries.

Haseeb Hameed has hit a much-needed boundary too, with his side now just two runs behind Hampshire with all 10 wickets intact.

  3. All very tight at Tauntonpublished at 14:37 British Summer Time 7 August 2017

    Somerset 130-4 v Surrey

    Mark Church
    BBC Radio London commentator

Just 25 runs have been added since lunch as Rikki Clarke and Gareth Batty use all their experience to keep it tight.

Four balls after lunch, Batty bowled Eddie Byrom for 46 with a beautifully flighted delivery.

Somerset skipper Tom Abell, who has reached his half-century, has batted very well and runs are starting to arrive, with Steven Davies (7 not out) starting nicely against his former county.

  4. 50 up for Lancashirepublished at 14:35 British Summer Time 7 August 2017

    Lancashire 149 & 58-0 v Hampshire 224

Haseeb Hameed still looks like a man out of form, with only six runs to his name from 36 deliveries.

Not so for Alex Davies, who has bludgeoned 44 off as many balls to take Lancashire within touching distance of getting their noses back in front on the scoreboard.

Hampshire have turned to spin for the first time, Liam Dawson coming into the attack.

  5. wicket

WICKET Hodd (lbw Porter) 6published at 14:32 British Summer Time 7 August 2017

    Yorkshire 113 & 56-7 v Essex 231

Jamie Porter has a wicket with the first ball of his second spell as he traps Andy Hodd lbw.

The writing is on the wall at Scarborough and perhaps for the Division One title too.

  6. Century for Halespublished at 14:24 British Summer Time 7 August 2017

    Division Two update

Division Two leaders Nottinghamshire are 250-5 and now 30 runs ahead of Derbyshire, led by a blistering century from Alex Hales, who reaches triple figures from only 114 balls.

There hasn't been much to celebrate for Leicestershire, who have watched Durham pile up 501 runs through a little over four sessions.

Neil Dexter can hold his head high though, as he takes his fifth wicket of the innings to leave the visitors eight down.

Elsewhere, Worcestershire are 53-1 in reply to Sussex's 430, with Daryl Mitchell falling to a Jofra Archer delivery, while Gloucestershire are 130-1 at Northampton, still 213 behind.

  7. wicket

WICKET Rashid (c Foster b Amir) 0published at 14:19 British Summer Time 7 August 2017

    Yorkshire 113 & 37-6 v Essex 231

As a Yorkshireman, this is painful to watch.

Mohammad Amir has his fourth wicket of the innings and his ninth of the game, England all-rounder Adil Rashid the latest victim, with keeper James Foster taking his fourth catch of match.

The hosts still need another 76 runs to make Essex bat again at Scarborough.

  8. wicket

WICKET Ambrose (c Simpson b Murtagh) 16published at 14:18 British Summer Time 7 August 2017

    Warwickshire 126 & 139-5 v Middlesex 161

Clearly my commentator's curse knows no bounds as Tim Ambrose becomes (mine and) Tim Murtagh's latest victim.

The Warwickshire wicket-keeper edges the ball behind to John Simpson, with the hosts holding a slender lead of just 104 runs.

  9. Hants keeper McManus injuredpublished at 14:15 British Summer Time 7 August 2017

    Lancashire 149 & 44-0 v Hampshire 224

More bad news for Hampshire, who are struggling to break Alex Davies and Haseeb Hameed's opening stand for Lancashire.

The hosts have been forced to make a change behind the stumps, as Lewis McManus has been hurt.

James Vince will put on the gloves for now.

  10. wicket

WICKET Bresnan (c Harmer b Amir) 0published at 14:13 British Summer Time 7 August 2017

    Yorkshire 113 & 33-5 v Essex 231

The end looks nigh at Scarborough as Yorkshire captain Tim Bresnan edges a brilliant in-swinging delivery from Mohammad Amir to Stuart Harmer at second slip.

Amir, who has eight wickets in the match now, really is bowling beautifully.

  11. Lamb and Ambrose consolidatepublished at 14:12 British Summer Time 7 August 2017

    Warwickshire 126 & 130-4 v Middlesex 161

It has been relatively quiet at Lord's after lunch as Matthew Lamb and Tim Ambrose look to rebuild Warwickshire's second innings.

The hosts are probing for another breakthrough as the Division One holders look to drag themselves back into the title race.

  12. 100 up for Somersetpublished at 14:08 British Summer Time 7 August 2017

    Somerset 100-4 v Surrey

Apologies for the lack of updates from Somerset, it's just there's not very much to tell you about.

Just four more runs have been added since Edward Byrom was bowled by Gareth Batty in the first over after lunch, with Surrey's decision to bowl first looking the right one so far.

  13. Porter strikes after lunchpublished at 14:02 British Summer Time 7 August 2017

    Yorkshire 113 & 31-4 v Essex 231

Yorkshire are sliding to defeat within two days at Scarborough as Jamie Porter induces the drive from Harry Brook, who sends the ball straight into the hands of Varun Chopra at first slip and is dismissed for nine.

Not the post-lunch start the hosts would have wanted.

  14. Davies and Hameed see off new ballpublished at 14:01 British Summer Time 7 August 2017

    Lancashire 149 & 28-0 v Hampshire 224

There's not a huge amount of excitement in the early stages of the second session, but Lancashire won't mind too much.

Trailing by 75 runs from the first innings against Hampshire, openers Alex Davies and Haseeb Hameed have safely batted out the first seven overs.

Hameed, desperate to pass 50 for the first time this season with the England selectors watching on, is still stuck on nought.

  15. wicket

WICKET Steel (c Ali b Dexter) 224published at 13:51 British Summer Time 7 August 2017

    Durham 467-5 v Leicestershire

Cameron Steel's brilliant innings finally comes to an end as he is caught at point off Neil Dexter.

The visitors' batsman's marathon stay at the crease stretched for 408 balls with 28 boundaries. Michael Richardson is still unbeaten on 71 at Grace Road.

  16. wicket

WICKET Byrom (b Batty) 42published at 13:44 British Summer Time 7 August 2017

    Somerset 96-4 v Surrey

Edward Byrom will have to wait at least a little longer for his maiden first-class 50.

The Somerset opener batted very nicely indeed through the morning session, but he's clean bowled by veteran Surrey spinner Gareth Batty in the first over after lunch.

  17. Back under waypublished at 13:42 British Summer Time 7 August 2017

The teams are back out around the country, and play can resume.

Not a drop of rain in sight, lovely stuff.

  18. Mustard undoes good workpublished at 13:39 British Summer Time 7 August 2017

    Northamptonshire 343 v Gloucestershire 85-3

    Bob Hunt
    BBC Radio Gloucestershire

Phil Mustard, skippering Gloucestershire, will be eating lunch furious with himself for allowing himself to be seduced by Simon Kerrigan's honey trap.

Along with George Hankins he'd rescued the visitors with a dogged 66-run partnership, but Kerrigan, on debut for Northants, enticed Mustard to go down the pitch and comprehensively bowled him for 26.

Things could have been worse, Hankins was spilled by keeper Adam Rossington in what should have been the simplest of chances.

  19. South Africa three down at lunchpublished at 13:36 British Summer Time 7 August 2017

    England 362 & 243 v South Africa 226 & 40-3

    Stuart BroadImage source, Getty Images

We're not far away from the restart in the County Championship, but at Old Trafford, England and South Africa have just started their lunch break.

The tourists head back to the pavilion three down, with Stuart Broad, James Anderson and Toby Roland-Jones each picking up a wicket.

South Africa still need another 339 runs to avoid a series defeat.

  20. Sussex tail propels visitorspublished at 13:30 British Summer Time 7 August 2017

    Sussex 430 v Worcestershire 15-0

    Adrian Harms
    Sports reporter, BBC Sussex

The Sussex tail has wagged at New Road with the last five wickets adding 250 runs, as the visitors reached 430 - having at one stage yesterday been 49-3.

Jofra Archer led the Sussex charge this morning with a hard-hitting 59, but he rode his luck being bowled twice by Ed Barnard off no-balls!

Barnard had the consolation however of being the pick of the Worcester bowling, returning figures of 3-93.
