  • Notts win first domestic T20 title

  • Notts posted 190-4, Bears replied with 168-8

  1. 6 runs

    Bears 148-5 - target 191published at 17 overs

    Hain 70, Thomason 17

Dan Christian bowls a very full length wide of off stump and only concedes two singles to start the new over. He then tries a shorter, slower one and Aaron Thomason pulls it away powerfully for six.

The next also finishes in the crowd as Thomason strong-arms the ball away over long-on - and he's a Birmingham-born lad too! A single gives the strike to Sam Hain but he can only manage one to extra cover.

The Bears now need 43 off 18.

  2. Bears 133-5 - target 191published at 16 overs

    Hain 68, Thomason 3

The Bears are pretty much up with the score Notts had reached at the same stage of their innings, but that paints a false picture of the Bears' predicament.

Sam Hain manages to put Samit Patel away through mid-wicket for four and he surely has to stay to the end of the innings if they are to have a chance.

    Only 24 balls remaining - 59 needed.

  3. Bears 122-5 - target 191published at 15 overs

    Hain 59, Thomason 2

If there is such a thing as an art of noise, the crowd at Edgbaston are indulging in the art form to the fullest.

Sam Hain pulls but can only take a single and another by Aaron Thomason brings him back onto strike for the final delivery.

Hain can make nothing of that, just four singles from the over and the Bears are now heading for "needing a miracle" territory, needing 69 off 30 balls.

A slow off-cutter deceiving Colin de Grandhomme.

Yet again Harry Gurney using all of his experience to out-fox the Birmingham batsmen. Outstanding bowling!

He's been the bowler who has turned this game in Notts' favour.

WICKET de Grandhomme (b Gurney) 27published at 14.1 overs

    Bears 118-5 - target 191

Harry Gurney returns and Colin de Grandhomme deflects into his own stumps as he tries to flick a slower ball away to long-leg.

A disappointing dismissal for the Kiwi, and it brings Aaron Thomason to the middle.

  6. Bears 118-4 - target 191published at 14 overs

    Hain 57, de Grandhomme 27

The Bears must keep the fours coming but Samit Patel is firing the ball in with a low trajectory, making it hard for them to get underneath it. Sam Hain hits one back over his head but a superb diving save by Riki Wessels denies him a boundary.

Only seven from the over and that's not enough for the Bears. The runner still isn't on the field as Sam Hain soldiers on with 73 needed off 36 balls.

Nobody is leaving - every stand is still packed to the rafters.

What a wonderful day for English domestic cricket.

Edgbaston is without a doubt the perfect venue for T20 Finals Day - their staff can't do enough for everyone here.

  9. 6 runs

    Bears 111-4 - target 191published at 13 overs

    Hain 54, de Grandhomme 23

Sam Hain is feeling the effects of cramp, so Adam Hose is padded up again to act as a runner. This could be fun, but he isn't on the ground yet as Colin de Grandhomme launches a towering six over long-off.

The Bears need 80 off seven.

  10. 50 runs

for Sam Hainpublished at 12.1 overs

    Bears 101-4 - target 191

Finally, the Bears get hold of Steven Mullaney as Sam Hain hammers it away for six to reach a 27-ball fifty.

  11. Bears 95-4 - target 191published at 12 overs

    Hain 46, de Grandhomme 15

Leg-spinner Ish Sodhi comes on and is immediately struck straight for four by Sam Hain. The second one turns from leg to off, but Hain adjusts and pushes it away for one.

The dew on the ground is increasing, and after a couple of singles, Hain comes down the wicket and slashes over cover for another four.

Colin de Grandhomme is on strike to the last delivery, but Sodhi sees him coming and forced a forward defensive stroke as 500 Miles by the Proclaimers blasts out of the PA - 96 needed from eight overs.

Sam Hain has played a little gem here, he just needs a partner to strike with him.

  13. Bears 84-4 - target 191published at 11 overs

    Hain 36, de Grandhomme 14

Wicketkeeper Tom Moores underarms at the stumps but Sam Hain is comfortably home. Colin de Grandhomme misses an attempted pull off Dan Christian, only for the umpire to call it a wide.

Finally the Bears locate the middle of the bat as de Grandhomme flicks over square leg for six. He'll need a lot more of those to get them home and the final delivery goes nowhere.

Sam Ottley: I don't think the Bears should have put Notts in. Chasing under the lights is always extra pressure.

It was a big call from Bears skipper Grant Elliott, who made the decision because Notts have generally preferred to chase as well as hoping the dew would help the ball come onto the bat. Hasn't been the case so far...

    Hain 34, de Grandhomme 5

We have a mass singalong of Sweet Caroline while stewards evict an over-enthusiastic spectator from the outfield. This can't be good for the concentration of the two batsmen.

The Bears have to find a way to get on top of Steven Mullaney, but it's just singles again off the canny all-rounder. The Bears need 119 from 60 balls. That's a tall order.

  16. Watch Patel run out Pollockpublished at 20:55 British Summer Time 2 September 2017

Samit Patel made an excellent 64 not out with the bat and he continued his good day in the field with a direct hit to run out the dangerous Bears opener Ed Pollock.

    And didn't he enjoy it...

Outstanding from Dan Christian. The change of pace shocked everyone, especially Grant Elliott. He tried a sweep shot but completely mistimed it.

That's a big loss for the Birmingham Bears. Notts are in the box seat.

  18. Bears 66-4 - target 191published at 9 overs

    Hain 32, de Grandhomme 2

Colin de Grandhomme is the new batsman. Will he live up to his name and be a 'big man' for Bears? He's off the mark with a single and chips another to deep mid-wicket to end the over.

Captain to captain as Dan Christian bowls to Grant Elliott, who muscles it away to wide long-on for a single.

One to Sam Hain follows, but Elliott is then adjudged leg-before by umpire Michael Gough as he tries to sweep.

  20. Bears 61-3 - target 191published at 8 overs

    Hain 30, Elliott 8

Steven Mullaney was the bowling star for Notts in their semi-final win over Hampshire and the medium-pacer is into the attack now with with his intelligently bowled 'dibbly-dobblers'.

Not a sign of a big shot from the Bears' batsmen, who settle for five singles and a two.
