  1. 'We can chase this score down'published at 20:03 British Summer Time 2 September 2017

    Notts 190-4 (20 overs)

BBC Radio 5 live sports extra

Birmingham Bears wicketkeeper Tim Ambrose: "I think (Notts' score is) above par. However there's a bit of moisture on the ground so the outfield is a bit quicker. I think we are confident of chasing their score down.

"Hopefully we can get a big partnership like they did. It's a great venue and everybody is really pumped and looking forward (to the run chase)."

  2. Watch Patel hit a sixpublished at 20:03 British Summer Time 2 September 2017

What a wonderful innings that was from Samit Patel, who made 64 from 42 balls, with four fours and four sixes. He's put Notts in the driving seat at halfway. Here is one of those sixes.

  3. End of innings: Notts 190-4published at 20 overs

    Patel 64, Christian 24

What an introduction to T20 cricket for Olly Stone. Dan Christian is about as experienced a player as you could wish to face and he has lifted the Notts Outlaws' score from a good one to a very good one.

Christian smears one behind square on the offside for a boundary before a short and wide one is upper-cut for six. Stone doesn't learn his lesson and sees two more boundaries fly through the offside.

23 runs off the final over, and Notts will be well pleased after their poor start. Christian finishes with 24 off eight balls.

  4. Notts 167-4published at 19 overs

    Patel 63, Christian 2

Well bowled Colin de Grandhomme, who goes for just five runs from his only over of the day. The slower ball and yorker combination was a winner.

How many can Notts get? Olly Stone to bowl the final over.

  5. Super innings from Taylorpublished at 19:54 British Summer Time 2 September 2017

    Notts 162-4 (18.1 overs)

    James Taylor
Ex-England batsman on BBC Radio 5 live sports extra

What a knock from Brendan Taylor! Notts were all over the place when he came into the crease but he was cool and calm and then increased the pressure.

WICKET Taylor (c Sibley b de Grandhomme) 65published at 18.1 overs

    Notts 162-4

Brendan Taylor falls from Colin de Grandhomme's first ball of the day. He check-drives down to mid-off where Dom Sibley takes a casual catch on the rope.

A 132-run partnership comes to an end.

  7. 6 runs

    Notts 162-3published at 18 overs

    Taylor 65, Patel 61

The ball is flying to all parts now and Samit Patel's back-foot smack over the offside for six is just about the best we've seen this evening.

Brendan Taylor follows it with a short-arm jab for four to cow corner. Patel flicks a short slower ball past short fine leg for a final blow.

Chris Woakes' figures are ruined slightly as 17 runs come off his final over.

  8. Notts ready to go big?published at 19:48 British Summer Time 2 September 2017

    Notts 145-3 (17 overs)

    James Taylor
Ex-England batsman on BBC Radio 5 live sports extra

With the wickets they've got in hand, Notts should be going for 10 an over now. Every ball from now, they need to be looking for a boundary.

  9. How do you wake a sleeping banana?published at 19:47 British Summer Time 2 September 2017

    Notts 145-3 (17 overs)

    Gary Smee
    BBC Sport at Edgbaston

Ladies and gentlemen, we have our first casualty of the 2017 T20 Blast final.

A banana is conked out in the Eric Hollies stand. Nothing will wake him - even a bit of shaking from his banana pals.

It has been a long day, that's for sure, but top-class entertainment both on and off the field.

  10. Notts 145-3published at 17 overs

    Taylor 59, Patel 50

Brilliant, orthodox batting from Brendan Taylor. He took some time to get going, but he's flying now, pulling and cutting to take a further nine from the final three balls of Olly Stone's over.

  11. 50 runs

for Samit Patelpublished at 16.3 overs

    Notts 136-3

Samit Patel follows suit from the next ball, clipping one into the legside. He's moving quicker than his partner and I think a flurry of runs are to come.

  12. 50 runs

for Brendan Taylorpublished at 16.2 overs

    Notts 135-3

Brendan Taylor gets there first with a dab to third man. He's hit six fours and one six and taken up 42 balls.

  13. Notts 134-3published at 16 overs

    Taylor 49, Patel 49

Notts are getting a move on now and it's beginning to look ominous. The 100 partnership comes up as Brendan Taylor clobbers a six and a four off Dom Sibley.

Both batters are one run away from their half-centuries. It's slogging time now surely, with seven wickets in hand.

  14. The makings of a classic?published at 19:41 British Summer Time 2 September 2017

    Notts 121-3 (15 overs)

    James Taylor
Ex-England batsman on BBC Radio 5 live sports extra

We've got a game on our hands now. This partnership has brought Notts straight back into this match.

  15. 6 runs

    Notts 121-3published at 15 overs

    Taylor 37, Patel 48

Jeetan Patel's final over goes for 10 as Samit Patel gets hold of one over the legside, just clearing Colin de Grandhomme on the boundary.

Jeetan Patel closes the over out well, but Bears need a wicket.

  16. 'We needed a partnership'published at 19:37 British Summer Time 2 September 2017

    Notts 111-3 (14 overs)

Notts Outlaws head coach Peter Moores: "We needed a partnership and these two have done really well.

"We're still trying to get what we scored last game, 160-170. These two have now built us a platform to build from."

  17. 6 runs

    Notts 111-3published at 14 overs

    Taylor 35, Patel 41

Samit Patel has the tennis players and bananas dancing to 'Freed From Desire' in the Hollies Stand with a well-timed slog-sweep for six off Dom Sibley.

Nelson is up and this is now the biggest partnership of the day between Brendan Taylor and Patel. What should Notts aim for from here?

  18. Watch Patel smash a sixpublished at 19:33 British Summer Time 2 September 2017

Samit Patel is doing an excellent job of getting Notts back into this game after Chris Woakes' burst at the top of the innings. Here's a massive six into the stands from earlier.

  19. Notts 102-3published at 13 overs

    Taylor 33, Patel 34

Samit Patel is showing his class. Aaron Thomason is again the bowler getting the tap as Patel maneuvers the first two balls of the over through the offside for four with an open-faced drive and a late cut.

There's no slogging from the all-rounder, just sweet timing and gap-picking. He has 34 from 26 balls. The launch pad is set for Notts.

  20. Notts 90-3published at 12 overs

    Taylor 32, Patel 23

Dom Sibley's part-time leg spin comes into the game. The former Surrey man has proved a very useful asset with the ball earlier in this competition and he sticks to a line way outside off stump.

It works well until the fifth ball when Brendan Taylor leathers one over extra-cover for four. Still only seven runs off the over.
