  2. wicket

WICKET Coles (c Hill b Parkinson) 37published at 17:28 British Summer Time 29 August 2017

    Leicestershire 350 v Kent 242-7 (68 overs)

Matt Coles is gone, caught behind off the bowling of spinner Callum Parkinson. Sam Northeast is still there for Kent, who are looking at a first-innings deficit at Canterbury. The skipper has 78.

  3. Surrey all out in a hurrypublished at 17:28 British Summer Time 29 August 2017

    Middlesex 247 v Surrey 280 (87.4 overs)

Surrey lose their last four wickets to the new ball for 14 runs at The Oval, where Toby Roland-Jones finishes things off by bowling last man Amar Virdi for one. Figures of 4-66 are a good return for the England man, who will be hoping to reclaim his Test spot for the third Test against West Indies.

  4. wicket

WICKET Pope (lbw Murtagh) 25published at 17:20 British Summer Time 29 August 2017

    Middlesex 247 v Surrey 279-9 (86.1 overs)

Two wickets in three balls at The Oval where Toby Roland-Jones has Rikki Clarke caught for one, and Tim Murtagh traps Ollie Pope lbw at the start of the next over. Surrey are 32 ahead and it looks like they'll have to settle for a modest first-innings lead.

  5. wicket

WICKET Noema-Barnett (lbw Ashwin) 15published at 17:14 British Summer Time 29 August 2017

    Worcestershire 363 v Gloucestershire 206-7 (61.5 overs)

India's star spinner Ravichandran Ashwin strikes again at New Road as Gloucestershire lose their seventh wicket, and are still 157 in arrears. The Worcestershire debutant now has 2-74 from 25 overs.

  6. Robinson revives Sussexpublished at 17:11 British Summer Time 29 August 2017

    Glamorgan 294 &100-5 (34 overs) v Sussex 268

Sussex may have trailed on first innings at Colwyn Bay, but their bowlers are doing their best to try and put them on top in this game, especially Ollie Robinson, who has just had Kiran Carlson caught behind and now has 3-29. Glamorgan's lead is 130.

  7. Warwickshire on the ropespublished at 17:00 British Summer Time 29 August 2017

    Warwickshire 200 v Lancashire 415-5 (106.3 overs)

Liam Livingstone has 180 + to his name, but is content to give Jos Buttler his head as Lancashire bat themselves into a match-winning position in the final session at Old Trafford. One six and four boundaries so far for Buttler and 40 have been added in eight and a half overs.

It won't be long before Warwickshire spinner Jeetan Patel has three figures in the runs conceded column and the Bears are coming under fire like Conor McGregor in the final round of his bout with Floyd Mayweather.

  8. It's raining at Chelmsfordpublished at 16:54 British Summer Time 29 August 2017

    Essex 159 & 117-3 (52.3 overs) v Somerset 164

  9. wicket

    WICKET S Curran (c Rayner b Murtagh) 4published at 16:51 British Summer Time 29 August 2017

    Middlesex 247 v Surrey 266-7 (80.3 overs)

Middlesex take the new ball at The Oval and it brings an instant reward as Sam Curran is taken at slip off Tim Murtagh. Surrey's lead is just 19 as Rikki Clarke joins Ollie Pope.

  10. wicket

WICKET Stevens (lbw b Pillans) 46published at 16:47 British Summer Time 29 August 2017

    Leicestershire 350 v Kent 193-6 (58.4 overs)

No fifty to go with his eight-wicket haul for Darren Stevens as he falls lbw to Mat Pillans for 46.

Leicestershire are doing a fine job at Canterbury, but they need to get rid of the home side's skipper Sam Northeast, who has 67 not out.

  11. Bad light at Trent Bridgepublished at 16:42 British Summer Time 29 August 2017

    Notts 213 & 317-8 (64 overs) v Northants 141

It's gloomy at Trent Bridge too, where the sides have been prevented from getting back out after tea. Riki Wessels is 107 not out and itching to get back out in the middle.

  12. Bad light at Chelmsfordpublished at 16:40 British Summer Time 29 August 2017

    Essex 159 & 117-3 (52.3 overs) v Somerset 164

The dreaded light meter has brought the players off at Chelmsford, despite the floodlights being on. That won't please Essex fans, whose side are on top - 112 runs ahead.

  13. 50 runs

for Jack Taylorpublished at 16:38 British Summer Time 29 August 2017

    Worcestershire 363 v Gloucestershire 171-6 (51.1 overs)

Jack Taylor takes two off Joe Leach for a 70-ball half-century and follows it with a boundary. It's the final scoring stroke of his 78-run partnership with Phil Mustard, though, as the latter is run out by Brett D'Oliveira's direct hit at the start of the next over for 29. Needless.

  14. Lancashire turn the screwpublished at 16:37 British Summer Time 29 August 2017

    Warwickshire 200 v Lancashire 391-5 (101.3 overs)

A single boundary was all Jos Buttler managed from the first dozen balls he faced at Old Trafford. Will the 13th be unlucky - no it won't, it'll be lofted away over the rope for six. Maximum batting points on the horizon for Lancashire and they have now almost doubled Warwickshire's firs-innings total.

  15. Surrey forge aheadpublished at 16:33 British Summer Time 29 August 2017

    Middlesex 247 v Surrey 257-6 (76 overs)

Surrey have quickly moved into the lead after tea at The Oval, with youngster Ollie Pope striking a couple of early boundaries to reach double figures.

However, Ben Foakes is gone - trapped lbw by James Franklin for 73, and that is a big boost for Middlesex with the new ball now only four overs away.

  16. Browne & Wheater building for Essexpublished at 16:29 British Summer Time 29 August 2017

    Essex 159 & 114-3 (50 overs) v Somerset 164

Nick Browne (65 not out) and Adam Wheater (34 not out) are doing exactly what Essex need them to: build a partnership. They have put on 75 together and are approaching the 78-run mark that signifies the biggest partnership of the match.

There's also been a change of umpire at Chelmsford where Neil Mallender has left the field feeling unwell. Cricket liaison officer Phil Whiiticase is doing square leg to square leg.

  17. 'Wessels puts Notts in control'published at 16:25 British Summer Time 29 August 2017

    Notts 213 & 317-8 (64 overs) v Northants 141

    Dave Bracegirdle
    BBC Radio Nottingham commentator

A scintillating century from Riki Wessels has put Nottinghamshire in total command on the second day against Northamptonshire at Trent Bridge.

Fading light prompted the umpires to call for an early tea, with 37 overs still left in the day, with Notts on 317 for eight, a lead of 389.

Rory Kleinveldt and Richard Gleeson have each taken three wickets, to try and keep Northants in the contest, but Wessels’ knock, the 22nd century of his career, appeared to have finally knocked the stuffing out of a side that has undergone its fair share of bad luck.

  18. wicket

WICKET Chanderpaul (c Patel b Wright) 95published at 16:21 British Summer Time 29 August 2017

    Warwickshire 200 v Lancashire 376-5 (98.1 overs)

Boy, did Warwickshire need that. Shiv Chanderpaul misses out on a 77th first-class century as seamer Chris Wright claims his second wicket of the innings by having him caught at square leg to end a stand of 211 with Liam Livingstone. Here comes Jos Buttler. What has he got in store for the Bears?

  19. Northants get a break from Wesselspublished at 16:18 British Summer Time 29 August 2017

    Notts 213 & 317-8 (64 overs) v Northants 141

A brief respite from Riki Wessels' one-man assault for Northants as tea is taken at Trent Bridge. The Notts' batsman has taken the game away completely in a T20-inspired show of whacking. He's 107 not out from just 79 balls.

There are very few players capable of such destruction with the red ball. Notts lead by 389 runs.

  20. Stevens Kent's pivotal man yet againpublished at 16:16 British Summer Time 29 August 2017

    Leicestershire 350 v Kent 180-5 - tea

    Adam Williams
    BBC Sport at Canterbury

Tea on day two here and yet again, Darren Stevens is playing a pivotal role in the outcome of this game.

After his first-class career-best 8-75 with the ball in Leicestershire's 350, he's now reached the interval unbeaten on 45 off 75 balls, sharing an unbroken sixth-wicket stand of 67 with captain Sam Northeast (55 not out).

Stevens just survived being caught behind off Clint McKay from the final ball of the session as his outside edge landed agonisingly between wicketkeeper Lewis Hill and first slip Mark Cosgrove.
