    Notts 213 & 310-8 (63.3 overs) v Northants 141

I told you. Riki Wessels biffs the next three balls from Rory Kleinveldt for 6, 4, 6 to move onto a 77-ball hundred (having reached his fifty from 56 balls). Ridiculous ball-striking.

  2. Division Two round-uppublished at 16:11 British Summer Time 29 August 2017

Another wicket for Durham at the Riverside where Chris Rushworth had Derbyshire's Matt Critchley lbw with the final ball before tea.The visitors are 97-5 and it looks like they are going to need some sort of batting miracle to avoid following on.

Gloucestershire have halted the fall of wickets for the time being at New Road, with Jack Taylor (37*) and Phil Mustard (26*) adding 56 so far to carry them to 149-5 at tea.

  3. Notts move onto 300published at 16:11 British Summer Time 29 August 2017

    Notts 213 & 300-8 (63 overs) v Northants 141

Riki Wessels is getting a wriggle on. Suddenly he has 91 from 75 balls and has moved Notts onto 300. Their lead is a commanding 372 and Northants' hopes of salvaging something are fading quickly.

  4. Glamorgan have narrow leadpublished at 16:08 British Summer Time 29 August 2017

    Glamorgan 294 & 60-1 (20 overs) v Sussex 268

    Nick Webb
    BBC Wales Sport

Glamorgan lead by 86 runs at tea on the chilly north Wales coast, after their inexperienced top order survived some hairy moments against the Sussex seamers.

Ollie Robinson claimed his fifth wicket of the match when he bowled Nick Selman for 15, but Owen Morgan and Jack Murphy battled through to the interval.

Earlier Sussex's lower order did well in support of captain Ben Brown, who was last out for 77, while last man Jofra Archer contributed a confident unbeaten 27 not out.

Craig Meschede, in only his second Championship match of the season, followed his top score with the best bowling figures of 4-61 while Ruaidhri Smith claimed three in his first appearance of 2017.

  5. Foakes has 'good cricket brain'published at 16:06 British Summer Time 29 August 2017

    Middlesex 247 v Surrey 244-5 (73 overs) - tea

    Mark Church
    BBC Radio London commentator

A tremendous partnership between Jason Roy and Ben Foakes on a crucial afternoon in the context of this game, both batsmen playing with great responsibility against this very good Middlesex attack.

Roy's defence was as solid as his attack before he was finally removed by Adam Voges, and Foakes has shown yet again how good his cricketing brain is.

Both will thank Stuart Meaker, the nightwatchman finally going after lunch to Steven Finn for 42, having done his job and then some.

  6. Lancashire pair 'imperious'published at 16:03 British Summer Time 29 August 2017

    Warwickshire 200 v Lancashire 371-4 - tea

    Wilf Reeve
    BBC Radio Lancashire

The Lancashire lead has grown as large as the flock of pigeons that has descended on the outfield, with Liam Livingstone and Shiv Chanderpaul imperious, not giving a single chance as they pushed the lead beyond 170.

The new ball was possibly the only chance of breaking this partnership, but all that seemed to do was make a sweeter noise off the bat.

None of the Warwickshire bowlers have been able to slow the scoring, with only Barker able to slightly stem the flow of runs, although he is still yet to take a wicket in his 24 overs.

It seems as though many of the fielding side are already wondering how long they will have to bat in their second innings to get themselves back into the game.

    Middlesex 247 v Surrey 231-5 (70.4 overs)

With 10 overs to go to the new ball, it is the slow left-arm of Adam Voges that ends Surrey's fifth-wicket partnership at 125. Bit of a disappointment that for Jason Roy, who struck three sixes and six fours in his 91-ball innings before giving a catch to mid-off. Ollie Pope is the new batsman.

  9. Livingstone's career-bestpublished at 15:50 British Summer Time 29 August 2017

    Warwickshire 200 v Lancashire 369-4 (95.2 overs)

Liam Livingstone marches on at Old Trafford and a single off Olly Stones takes him to a new first-class career-best of 169 not out. His sense of timing couldn't be better with Tom Westley's place at number three in the England Test side in some doubt. His partnership with Shiv Chanderpaul is 200 and rising.

  10. 50 runs

for Riki Wesselspublished at 15:50 British Summer Time 29 August 2017

    Notts 213 & 261-8 (59 overs) v Northants 141

Riki Wessels has scored quicker than I can type. He moved to fifty from 56 balls before going berserk, smashing Richard Gleeson for a combination which reads 6, 4, 4, 4.

He now has 62 from 60 balls.

  11. 50 runs

for Ben Foakespublished at 15:48 British Summer Time 29 August 2017

    Middlesex 247 v Surrey 222-4 (69 overs)

There's a lot of chat about the make-up of England's batting line-up for this winter's Ashes. But there is also the question of a second wicketkeeper for the tour and innings like this one do Ben Foakes' chances of being that man no harm at all. His latest half-century arrives with a single off Adam Voges and has taken him 94 balls.

  12. Essex's session at Chelmsfordpublished at 15:43 British Summer Time 29 August 2017

    Essex 159 & 84-3 (43 overs) v Somerset 164

It was slow-going in the afternoon session for Essex, but that's just what they needed. Nick Browne (54 not out) and Adam Wheater (16 not out) are grinding away.

They'll come back out in 20 minutes looking to extend their lead from 79 runs. I feel another Craig Overton burst could be key for Somerset.

  13. Century stand by Surrey pairpublished at 15:40 British Summer Time 29 August 2017

    Middlesex 247 v Surrey 215-4 (67 overs)

Ben Foakes takes two runs off Steven Finn to bring up the 100 partnership with Jason Roy for Surrey, and then adds back-to-back boundaries for good measure. These two have batted well and now the prospect of a first-innings lead is there for the home side. Roy, meanwhile, has progressed to 76 not out.

  14. wicket

WICKET Wood (b Gleeson) 1published at 15:36 British Summer Time 29 August 2017

    Notts 213 & 227-8 (56.1 overs) v Northants 141

Richard Gleeson is on a roll in this innings. He has Luke Wood's wicket now and Northants are just two wickets away from beginning what will be a very tricky run-chase.

Riki Wessels, who has just passed 10,000 first-class runs, is on 31 and needs support from Jake Ball.

  15. 50 runs

for Nick Brownepublished at 15:34 British Summer Time 29 August 2017

    Essex 159 & 80-3 (40 overs) v Somerset 164

Nick Browne finally reaches a watchful half-century - just the second of the match - with a four through extra-cover off Dom Bess. He has 53 from 128 balls.

Adam Wheater is still there on 16 and Essex lead by 75 runs.

  16. Division Two round-uppublished at 15:29 British Summer Time 29 August 2017

Glamorgan are 62 ahead at Colwyn Bay, having reached 36-1 in their second innings, with Nick Selman the man to go, bowled by Ollie Robinson for 12.

Durham are firmly in control at the Riverside, where Graham Onions has just removed Ben Slater for 29, caught at second slip, to leave Derbyshire 74-4 in reply to the home side's 480-9 declared.

Sam Northeast is seven runs short of a half-century for Kent, who are 147-5 after bowling out Leicestershire for 350 earlier in the day.

Meanwhile, Gloucestershire are 118-5 at New Road against Worcestershire, with Ravichandran Ashwin having so far sent down 12 overs of spin for figures of 1-37.

  17. wicket

WICKET Hutton (c Murphy b Gleeson) 13published at 15:28 British Summer Time 29 August 2017

    Notts 213 & 221-7 (54.5 overs) v Northants 141

Brett Hutton is gone, caught by stand-in keeper David Murphy off Richard Gleeson's bowling. With oodles of time to play with, there's no chance of a Notts declaration, so they'll simply bat as long as possible.

The lead is already 293 runs, with Riki Wessels unbeaten on 26. He made 69 valuable runs in the first innings batting with the tail. How many can he add this time?

  18. Jarvis happy to see out Lancs contractpublished at 15:21 British Summer Time 29 August 2017

Zimbabwe's Kyle Jarvis is happy with Lancashire, who have made an approach for Middlesex and England's Steven Finn.

Wheater dropped by Hildrethpublished at 15:19 British Summer Time 29 August 2017

    Essex 159 & 72-3 (35 overs) v Somerset 164

Somerset have been building some pressure, but when the chance comes James Hildreth can't take it. Paul van Meekeren draws the edge from Adam Wheater, but Hildreth spills it at slip.

  20. Northants' injury woes mountingpublished at 15:14 British Summer Time 29 August 2017

    Notts 213 & 211-6 (52 overs) v Northants 141

    Alex Winter
    BBC Radio Northampton sport

Northamptonshire are doing their best to stay in this game with still enough in the wicket but Notts are edging their lead up towards the 300-mark and comfortable territory.

Samit Patel's bright fifty was ended shortly after lunch and since then, Northants have chipped away well and not allowed any further partnerships to develop with both Alex Hales and Cheteshwar Pujara not turning their starts into anything too damaging.

But Northants' injury situation has got even worse. After Alex Wakely and Adam Rossington were taken for x-rays on suspected broken fingers - the latter certainly could be serious - Ben Sanderson pulled up fifth ball back into the attack and walked straight off the field.
