  1. Ashwin strikes for Pearspublished at 15:13 British Summer Time 29 August 2017

    Worcestershire 363 v Gloucestershire 93-5 (30.3 overs)

Ravichandran Ashwin had to wait until his 10th over in county cricket for his first Championship wicket, but there it is Gareth Roderick obligingly gives him a return catch. With two earlier wickets for seamer Ed Barnard, Gloucestershire are in the mire at New Road as Jack Taylor joins Phil Mustard at the crease.

    Warwickshire 200 v Lancashire 329-4 (85 overs)

This innings by Liam Livingstone is rapidly becoming very special indeed. Two fours in an over from Keith Barker carries him past 150 and his career-best 168, made against Somerset in April, is now very much in his sights

  3. wicket

WICKET Read (c Levi b Gleeson) 2published at 15:02 British Summer Time 29 August 2017

    Notts 213 & 195-6 (49 overs) v Northants

A first wicket of the innings for Richard Gleeson, who gets Chris Read caught by Richard Levi. Gleeson took 4-38 in the first innings and will need to keep going here if Northants are to get back into it.

    Notts lead by 267 runs.

  4. 50 runs

for Jason Roypublished at 15:01 British Summer Time 29 August 2017

    Middlesex 247 v Surrey 163-4 (58 overs)

It's not been a vintage summer for Jason Roy, who has yet to score a century for Surrey in any competition. There is a welcome 56-ball fifty, though, as he takes a single off Tim Murtagh.

  5. Foxes on top in Kent sunshinepublished at 14:55 British Summer Time 29 August 2017

    Leicestershire 350 v Kent 115-5 (36 overs)

    Adam Williams
    BBC Sport at Canterbury

Momentum can sometimes be a much over-used word in sport, but not in this contest mid-way through the second day. Since tea yesterday, it has swung away from Kent dramatically after they had reduced Leicestershire to 174-8.

The visitors eventually posted 350 in their first innings, thanks to a last-wicket stand of 122 and now they are right among the Kent middle-order after reducing them to 113-5, with youngster Zak Crawley the latest to go for just one.

Kent's main man Darren Stevens is at the crease now with captain Sam Northeast (34 not out) and hoping to feed off the momentum of his earlier 8-75 in this match.

  6. Bears seek new-ball breakthroughpublished at 14:51 British Summer Time 29 August 2017

    Warwickshire 200 v Lancashire 307-4 (81 overs)

Warwickshire have taken the new ball at Old Trafford and they badly need it to be a difference maker. Keith Barker is first with the new cherry, but there's another boundary to Liam Livingstone - the 18th of his innings, to go with three sixes - as he moves to 143 not out. Lancashire now have three batting points to go with the three they earned with the ball on day one.

  7. 'Kleinveldt plugging away'published at 14:46 British Summer Time 29 August 2017

    Notts 213 & 190-5 (46 overs) v Northants 141

    Dave Bracegirdle
    BBC Radio Nottingham commentator

Rory Kleinveldt is doing his level best to keep Northants in the game at Trent Bridge.

Notts have an overall lead of 262, but it would have been much worse for Northants without Kleinveldt’s efforts.

The big South African all-rounder is skippering the visitors with Alex Wakely at hospital with an injured finger and has pegged away at the Radcliffe Road end for much of the day, bowling Steven Mullaney in the morning session, and Samit Patel and Alex Hales since lunch.

Azharullah removed Jake Libby at the start of the day and has just given his side a further lift by pinning Cheteshwar Pujara lbw for 34, made after 162 minutes at the crease.

  8. Crawley at the creasepublished at 14:45 British Summer Time 29 August 2017

    Leicestershire 350 v Kent 109-4 (33 overs)

    Zak CrawleyImage source, Getty Images

A big moment for Kent youngster Zak Crawley, who has come out to play his first Championship innings for the club after Sam Billings was lbw to Neil Dexter for 16.

Darren Stevens took 8-75 in former club Leicestershire's innings, wonder if Dexter is intent on returning the favour. That's two now for the ex-Kent all-rounder.

  9. 50 runs

for Shiv Chanderpaulpublished at 14:35 British Summer Time 29 August 2017

    Warwickshire 200 v Lancashire 293-4 (77.5 overs)

Warwickshire have now turned to Dominic Sibley's occasional off-spin, and after Liam Livingstone belts him for six, Shiv Chanderpaul helps himself to a single later in the over to reach an 82-ball fifty. How many career half-centuries is that for the Guyanese left-hander? Umpteen.

  10. wicket

WICKET Pujara (lbw b Azharullah) 34published at 14:33 British Summer Time 29 August 2017

    Notts 213 & 176-5 (43.1 overs) v Northants 141

As often happens, one wicket brings another. Cheteshwar Pujara follows Alex Hales back to the Trent Bridge pavilion after Mohammad Azharullah wins an lbw appeal against the Indian Test batsman.

Notts lead by 248 and are still well ahead of the game, but they'll want a few more to be sure of avoiding a Northants' run-chase. Riki Wessels, who scored 69 in the first innings, doesn't tend to hang around and is now at the crease.

  11. Brown last to go for Sussexpublished at 14:33 British Summer Time 29 August 2017

    Glamorgan 294 v Sussex 268 (59.5 overs)

Sussex's innings comes to an end at Colwyn Bay as Craig Meschede bowls Ben Brown for 77 to finish with figures of 4-61. Meschede, don't forget, top scored with 87 for Glamorgan on day one and is certainly doing his bit.

A lead of 26 for the Welsh county then, perhaps fewer than they hoped for at one stage, but better than being 26 behind.

  12. wicket

WICKET Hales (b Kleinveldt) 25published at 14:29 British Summer Time 29 August 2017

    Notts 213 & 176-4 (42.1 overs) v Northants 141

Needless to say, Alex Hales is no longer maintaining Notts' momentum as he was a few minutes ago. The text commentator's curse strikes as Rory Kleinveldt bowls the right-hander.

  13. Welcome to the Championshippublished at 14:29 British Summer Time 29 August 2017

    Worcestershire 363 v Gloucestershire 69-1 (20 overs)

Worcestershire debutant Ravichandran Ashwin is one of the best spin bowlers in the world. Doesn't look like Cameron Bancroft is in a respectful mood.

  14. wicket

WICKET Bopara (st Davies b Leach) 9published at 14:28 British Summer Time 29 August 2017

    Essex 159 & 39-3 (20 overs) v Somerset 164

A rush of blood to the head from Ravi Bopara who charges down the wicket, misses the ball and surrenders his wicket to Jack Leach. That wasn't too clever.

Essex lead by 34 runs with seven wickets in hand.

  15. Hales maintaining Notts' momentumpublished at 14:25 British Summer Time 29 August 2017

    Notts 213 & 176-3 (41.3 overs) v Northants 141

Alex Hales isn't one to waste time, especially with Notts in the driving seat at Trent Bridge. The England white-ball whacker has come out with the intent of continuing Samit Patel's good work and has scored 25 from 20 balls so far.

Cheteshwar Pujara has not changed gear and has 34 from 99 balls. The lead is 248.

  16. Lancashire pair in controlpublished at 14:23 British Summer Time 29 August 2017

    Warwickshire 200 v Lancashire 273-4 (74 overs)

Warwickshire need a couple of wickets and fast at Old Trafford, because Lancashire are threatening to put this match out of their reach. Liam Livingstone (126*) and Shiv Chanderpaul (43*) have now added 108 from 25 overs and certain Jos Buttler is next to come, ready to feast on a tiring attack.

  17. Young Somerset trio sign new contractspublished at 14:19 British Summer Time 29 August 2017

Somerset's Tim Rouse, Tom Banton and Ollie Sale all sign their first professional deals until the end of 2019.

  18. Somerset change bowlers onpublished at 14:16 British Summer Time 29 August 2017

    Essex 159 & 37-2 (17 overs) v Somerset 164

Jack Leach, who was poor in the first innings, is on to bowl alongside Tim Groenewald. The game has slowed somewhat after an almost non-stop period of action.

So, feast your eyes on the two lbw decisions to go the way of Craig Overton this innings.

Get Involvedpublished at 14:10 British Summer Time 29 August 2017

    #bbccricket

Jake Shoolheifer: I'm sure Liam Livingstone's timely century won't be making Tom Westley feel much better right now.

Will Westley have checked the county scores during England's lunch break? If so he may well have raised an eyebrow at Livingstone's second Championship century of the season.

  20. Division Two round-uppublished at 14:08 British Summer Time 29 August 2017

Ravichandran Ashwin is having his first bowl for Worcestershire, with Gloucestershire on 45-1 following the departure of Chris Dent for 22, caught off Josh Tongue.

Ben Brown has moved on to 68 not out for Sussex against Glamorgan, but Craig Meschede has removed Ollie Robinson for 15, his third wicket of the innings, with the visitors 235-9.

Ben Raine now has two victims for Leicestershire against Kent, having Joe Denly caught behind for 21 to leave the home side on 79-3.

Derbyshire have just suffered their first setback at the Riverside, with Luis Reece well taken by keeper Michael Richardson off Graham Onions. They are are 28-1 in the 12th over, replying to Durham's 480-9 declared.
