Yorkshire's toil in the field at The Oval is finally over.

Rikki Clarke is the last man out for a breezy 41, Steven Patterson claims the last scalp thanks to Tim Bresnan's catch in the deep.

The White Rose now with the small matter of trying to get to 443, just to avoid the follow-on.

And now Varun Chopra takes Essex into the lead. He's into the 90s and looks in complete control.

I mentioned earlier Henry Brookes was struggling with his line but he still looks a good young bowler. His pace is averaging around 85mph which is very impressive.

  3. Bonus point for Essexpublished at 13:51 British Summer Time 13 September 2017

    Essex 201-2 (57 over) v Warwickshire 201

The first Essex batting bonus point is in the bag as they pass 200.

A few more of those and the invitations for the title-winning party may be heading out on Thursday.

It also means the scores are now level between Essex and Warwickshire.

It's little wonder. Sanga's stats are incredible. He is one of my favourite cricketers of all-time.

  9. Lawrence batting wellpublished at 13:40 British Summer Time 13 September 2017

    Essex 190-2 (54 over) v Warwickshire 201

Warwickshire's Henry Brookes is struggling a little on his debut.

He keeps drifting onto the pads of Dan Lawrence and the Essex man is whipping the ball to the fence brilliantly.

That's a good response. The 18-year-old bowls a sharp yorker that almost gets through Lawrence's defences but Essex are now just 11 runs behind.

  10. Inspection at 14:15published at 13:37 British Summer Time 13 September 2017

    Lancashire 61-3 (30 overs) v Somerset 335

  11. rain stops play

Rain stops play again at Uxbridgepublished at 13:36 British Summer Time 13 September 2017

    Middlesex 76-3 (30.1 overs) v Hampshire

Showers keep blowing in across north west London it seems today.

Just a few balls bowled since lunch, but this only looks like being a brief stoppage.

Bearing in mind they lost the entire day yesterday to a damp outfield, the umpires are sticking to the cautious approach with the wicket.

    Surrey 555-8 (131.4 overs) v Yorkshire

Give Yorkshire credit. They have been out in the field for over 130 overs but the quick bowlers are still going.

Steven Patterson gets Freddie van den Bergh lbw.

And another! For the second time in this match a Yorkshire man is on a hat-trick as Stuart Meaker goes first ball.

  14. Play resumes at Uxbridgepublished at 13:29 British Summer Time 13 September 2017

    Middlesex 76-3 (29.3 overs) v Hampshire

Three games in Division One are now back under way with the resumption of Middlesex v Hampshire at Uxbridge.

Fidel Edwards will finish off his over that began before the rain with Middlesex on 76-3.

Adam Voges and Middlesex debutant Max Holden are the batsmen.

  15. Two boundaries for Lawrencepublished at 13:25 British Summer Time 13 September 2017

    Essex 175-2 (50 over) v Warwickshire 201

Fresh-faced 18-year-old debutant Henry Brookes is back into the attack for Warwickshire against Essex.

His first ball is a little too leg-side and another youngster Dan Lawrence punishes him through mid-wicket.

And again! This is even better from Lawrence. Over-pitched and driven past the bowler for four.

  17. Surrey keep on battingpublished at 13:21 British Summer Time 13 September 2017

    Surrey 550-7 (128 overs) v Yorkshire

Despite the loss of Ben Foakes just before lunch, Surrey are still batting after the break and quickly bring up the 550.

What's the plan from here? Keep batting and bowl Yorkshire out twice?

  18. Afternoon sessions beginpublished at 13:18 British Summer Time 13 September 2017

    Sussex 100-4 (25 overs) v Derbyshire 338

But in Division Two they are back under way for the afternoon session at Hove and Worcester.

Sussex have brought up their 100 but are four wickets down with Luke Wright (1 not out) and Ben Brown (5 not out) at the crease.

In bright sunshine at New Road, Worcester resume on 1-0 in response to Leicestershire's 404.

  20. Newton and Levi cash inpublished at 13:12 British Summer Time 13 September 2017

    Glamorgan 207 v Northants 137-2

    Nick Webb
    BBC Wales Sport

The promotion-chasing Northamptonshire made the most of the hour possible before lunch as Rob Newton and Richard Levi cashed in on some inaccurate bowling.

Newton reached his 50 off 95 balls while Levi laid into anything wide on his way to 47 not out, although he was dropped off a very difficult chance at mid-wicket in 22.

Only captain Michael Hogan could find any semblance of control in the breezy conditions with the other seamers all struggling for line and length.
