  1. dropped catch

Chopra dropped by Hainpublished at 13:08 British Summer Time 13 September 2017

    Essex 156-2 (45 over) v Warwickshire 201

A very tough chance but a chance nonetheless.

Patel continues to Varun Chopra and the Essex opener gets an inside edge onto his pad.

The ball goes too quickly for Sam Hain at short leg and despite it hitting him on the shin he can't cling on.

  2. Good start for Lawrencepublished at 13:06 British Summer Time 13 September 2017

    Essex 156-2 (44 over) v Warwickshire 201

Dan Lawrence (15 not out) averages 41 this season with two centuries which is a very good return for a 20-year-old.

This will be a big test for him though against two international quality bowlers in Warwickshire's Jeetan Patel and Chris Woakes.

    He's looking solid for now.

  3. Set to restart in Bristolpublished at 13:03 British Summer Time 13 September 2017

    Gloucestershire 242-5 v Kent

Some good news finally for Gloucestershire and Kent fans.

Looks like they'll finally see some action on the second day there...

  4. Bowlers get their rewards in the endpublished at 13:00 British Summer Time 13 September 2017

    Middlesex 71-3 (27.2 overs) v Hampshire

    Kevin Hand
    BBC Radio London at Uxbridge

Hampshire fought back with the ball after a defiant first hour from Sam Robson and Nick Compton on a pitch that looks as though it will be tough for batsman and bowlers.

The notoriously slow Uxbridge track has been slowed further by the recent rain, and the leak in the roll on covers ahead of the game, so run scoring and fast bowling isn't easy.

However a change of ends for both Fidel Edwards and Ian Holland has brought great reward, with the former in particular finding assistance through the air and off the surface on a fuller length.

How the damp surface deteriorates across the final two days will be very interesting and may well bring a result despite yesterday's washout and the ground's recent infamy for producing drawn games.

  5. Lawrence away after lunchpublished at 12:58 British Summer Time 13 September 2017

    Essex 150-2 (45 over) v Warwickshire 201

Woakes serves up a gift to Lawrence to help him get going again after lunch.

It's a ball on the batsman's hip and 20-year-old Lawrence flicks the ball through square-leg for four.

Don't forget this is effectively a must-win match for the Bears if they are to avoid relegation. They'll need better from their man man.

  6. Play resumes at Edgbastonpublished at 12:56 British Summer Time 13 September 2017

    Essex 146-2 (44.1 over) v Warwickshire 201

    But good news from Birmingham.

The sun is back out and the players have had their lunch.

Chris Woakes is about to restart his 12th over with the leaders 146-2, trailing by 55, with Varun Chopra and Dan Lawrence at the crease.

  7. rain stops play

Rain arrives at Tauntonpublished at 12:56 British Summer Time 13 September 2017

    Somerset 335 v Lancashire 61-3 (30 overs)

Still lunch time at Taunton, but they may be off for a while before Lancashire's first innings resumes...

  8. Viljoen leads the way at Hovepublished at 12:50 British Summer Time 13 September 2017

An excellent morning for the visitors who have removed the top four in the Sussex order.

Hardus Viljoen has led the way taking three of the wickets to fall, bowling with pace and importantly an impeccable line and length.

He's been ably supported by both Harry Podmore and Will Davis, and Sussex will need their all rounders to dig them out of trouble if they are to pick up the batting bonus points which they desperately need.

  9. 'Lancashire decision to bowl bizarre'published at 12:47 British Summer Time 13 September 2017

    Somerset 335 v Lancashire 61-3 (30 overs)

Lancashire's decision to not toss up and instead invite Somerset to bat first took a few people by surprise yesterday, especially after naming two spinners and with the recent history of these Somerset pitches.

Today that decision looks increasingly bizarre, trailing by 274 runs, the Red Rose have lost their top three batsman including Haseeb Hameed, who batted for 70 minutes for his four runs before taking on a short ball and top edging to fine leg.

Somerset will look to take further control of this game after lunch.

  10. 'Sangakkara is a genius'published at 12:44 British Summer Time 13 September 2017

    Surrey 543-7 (126 overs) v Yorkshire

A 258-run partnership between Kumar Sangakkara and Ben Foakes. Sangakkara is a genius and Foakes should be on the plane to Australia this winter.

Surrey in a very good position, but Jack Brooks bowled extremely well this morning, picking up four wickets and stalling Surrey's serene progress.

Surrey will want more runs after lunch. Yorkshire will feel they are no longer waiting for a deceleration.

That must go down as the home side's session with Overton, Trego and Leach taking a wicket each.

Could the second-bottom side cause an upset against second-top Lancashire?

  14. Lunch at The Ovalpublished at 12:33 British Summer Time 13 September 2017

    Surrey 543-7 (126 overs) v Yorkshire

Lunch time arrives at The Oval with Surrey well in command despite Yorkshire finally dismissing centurions Kumar Sangakkara and Ben Foakes.

Jack Brooks gets himself a five-wicket bag, but the White Rose will face a stiff reply with the bat at some stage in this one.

  15. Sussex struggle earlypublished at 12:31 British Summer Time 13 September 2017

    Division Two update

Lunch has been taken early at New Road after a short shower.

Worcestershire eventually bowled out Leicestershire for 404 and then reached 1-0 after one over at the interval in return.

After Jofra Archer finished off the Derbyshire innings on the first ball of the day, Sussex have lost four early wickets in response to the visitors' 338.

Hardus Viljoen has three wickets with Sussex 95-4 on the brink of lunch.

  19. Early lunch taken at Edgbastonpublished at 12:20 British Summer Time 13 September 2017

    Essex 146-2 (44.1 over) v Warwickshire 201

And it has been confirmed an early lunch will be taken at Edgbaston in the match between Warwickshire and Essex.

Varun Chopra (79 not out) and Dan Lawrence (10 not out) are the men currently not out with Essex 55 runs behind their hosts' first innings total.

  20. Still raining at Edgbastonpublished at 12:17 British Summer Time 13 September 2017

    Essex 146-2 (44.1 over) v Warwickshire 201

Essex are off the field due to rain at the minute but the score from Taunton will have them smiling in the dressing room.

Lancashire are 294 runs behind Somerset for the loss of three wickets in a very tricky position.

If Essex go on and win their match against Warwickshire, and they're in a strong position, and Lancashire lose, then the title could be Essex's by Friday.
