Gloucestershire's victory target of 381 seems a very long way off.

    Breakthrough at New Road.

Ed Barnard gets Paul Collingwood lbw to end a stand of 88 with Graham Clark.

Durham still need 234 to win - that's not happening.

    Leicestershire 128 & 270 v Northants 202 & 124-1 (target 197)

Luke Procter (68*) and Alex Wakely (31*) are guiding Northants to a comfortable victory at Grace Road.

The visitors require another 73 runs.

A Sussex declaration against Notts could make things interesting in the promotion race.

If I was a gambling man, I'd say Notts are still 1-1000 to go up.

  7. Hampshire bring up their 100published at 14:30 British Summer Time 28 September 2017

    Warwickshire 188 & 186 v Hampshire 116 & 106-4 - target 259

A first run off the bat in eight overs brings up Hampshire's 100.

A further 44 overs for the hosts to survive at Edgbaston.

I wonder how the Middlesex's players nerves are?

Hove has continued to be a batsman's paradise as Luke Wells reaches his run-a-ball half-century.

Sussex have etched out a 189-run lead over Nottinghamshire now but with 46 overs left in the day, the visitors are heading towards the draw that will secure their promotion.

  10. Hampshire pair battlepublished at 14:18 British Summer Time 28 September 2017

    Warwickshire 188 & 186 v Hampshire 116 & 99-4 - target 259

James Vince (24 not out) and Liam Dawson (3 not out) have taken Hampshire towards 100.

The target for the visitors is now 160, but perhaps more crucially they're edging closer to the draw.

After the mayhem just after lunch, where they lost three wickets in 17 balls, there is relative calm at Edgbaston now.

I cannot imagine it will last long.

    More from Wayne Noon...

"There's going to be an investigation tomorrow.

"Phil Whitticase, another CLO comes in, he'll conduct an investigation and he will go through my findings and speak to both umpires, both captains and the groundstaff.

"He could downgrade it, he could upgrade it, that's entirely up to him. He looks at the evidence and he makes his own call."

"The criteria says it's not how it looks, it's how it plays.

"In my opinion and other people I've asked for their opinion, we've come to the same conclusion that it's excessive turn.

    No points deduction for Somerset

BBC London's Kevin Hand has spoken to Wayne Noon, the cricket liaison officer, for the Somerset v Middlesex match.

Here's what Noon had to say...

"I've marked the pitch below average for excessive spin on days one and two.

"Days one and two it [the bounce] was fine, the odd one from the spinners on day three might have kept a bit low, but at no stage was there any thought of any unevenness."

Liam Dawson finally gets his first runs as he drives Jeetan Patel for a couple of runs.

At the other end James Vince is keeping the run rates flowing, having moved on to 24 off 36 balls.

Hampshire require another 164 runs to win. This match, and the relegation battle, is going down to the wire.

He's taking his side to victory - but it's not going to be enough to get them promoted with the match at Hove drifting towards a draw.

A beautiful final day of the season at Grace Road, the kind of day that makes you fear the dark winter months even more. Savour these final few hours.

Northamptonshire are going smoothly in pursuit of 197 for their ninth win of the season. The morning session being lost to a wet outfield has helped them - conditions on the previous two afternoons have been very good for batting.

But with a Sussex win now most unlikely at Hove, nine wins - including beating Notts - is still not going to be enough for Northants to be promoted. Why? A five-point deduction for a slow over rate at Trent Bridge looks like being the exact difference.

  20. Sussex looking comfortable at Hovepublished at 13:51 British Summer Time 28 September 2017

    Sussex 565 & 53-0 v Nottinghamshire 477

Luke Wells (40 not out) and Harry Finch (13 not out) are looking totally at ease on a glorious batting pitch at Hove.

Despite the lack of wickets, Nottinghamshire will be happy.

They simply need to walk away from the last two sessions of that match with a draw and they will be promoted to Division One.
