Anderson to Khawaja. Possibly no verbals here. They were team-mates at Lancashire and bonded over Playstation games.
Khawaja 46, Smith 22
Jimmy is simmering. Steve Smith hardly played a false shot in Brisbane but once again he manages to play just out of the reach of third slip. That was played with soft hands to be fair but I'm not sure Anderson will be congratulating him for that.
Now Smith inside edges one onto his thigh pad! An exasperated Anderson has a grumble. Smith just laughs back. That really won't help the mood.
Khawaja 45, Smith 18
Steve Smith has faced faster, more experienced bowlers than Craig Overton but I haven't seen him look this edgy so far in this series as he is turned around once again.
Ah. Me and my big mouth. Smith, in his distinctive wandering style, steps across and cover drives for a lovely four through the covers.
Smith's ability to be an exceptionally good batsman despite looking completely out of touch is remarkable and really frustrating.
Khawaja 45, Smith 13
Another appeal. Another close call but once again the Australians just survive. A full inswinger from Anderson hits Khawaja on the back thigh pad but the left-hander was outside the line and the ball was probably going over the top.
Anderson is starting to get frustrated.

That's the one positive thing England can think when they go in for the break - Australia haven't got away from them. They should be thinking about getting three or four quickly, then they will be right in it.
That was a decent over from Craig Overton. He squared up Steve Smith a ball after that appeal. England are just starting to make things happen. They need to capitalise.
Craig Overton is back. Big appeal! In fact it's a huge appeal as Steve Smith walks across his stumps. Overton is pleading with the umpire but it looked high. England consider a review but Joe Root shakes his head. The right choice.

England have been in the war bunker again. Eight catchers for Steve Smith.
Khawaja 45, Smith 9
That drop doesn't get any better the more times it's shown on the replay. Stoneman was there. He had done the hard work.
Anderson bowls his first maiden of the innings.
Good morning! If you're just waking up, well...
England won the toss, opted to bowl first and then failed to make any inroads with the new ball before a 90-minute rain delay.
However, in the first full over after tea, Chris Woakes swooped at mid-off to run out Cameron Bancroft for 10 and briefly gee England up.
David Warner and Usman Khawaja settled Australia back down, and Warner was closing in on a half-century before he lazily feathered a Woakes delivery behind.
He was out for 47, which brought Steve Smith to the crease, while Khawaja has just been handed a life after Mark Stoneman dropped him in the deep.

You've got to take them - it was pretty straightforward. Stoneman had to run 15 or 20 paces. You're taking those eight and a half or nine times out of 10. Khawaja was looking comoftable as well. How crucial could that be?

The plan worked. It really should have been taken.
No, no, no! I was just slating those short balls but another one from Chris Woakes does the trick. Usman Khawaja goes for the pull again and top edges. The ball is in the air for a long time and Mark Stoneman is the man at fine leg. He runs in and has to dive forward but the ball is at knee height. That has to be taken. It goes straight through Stoneman's hands and the home crowd absolutely love it.
Chris, Chris, Chris. The home crowd are loving this over as Woakes bowls two short balls that Usman Khawaja slaps for four.
Anderson 10-0-23-0
Tuffers suggests on TMS that Jimmy Anderson has been a little unlucky today and again he finds the outer part of Khawaja's bat but the ball goes down and through the slips for three to bring up the Aussie 100.
That's a beauty! Anderson's now gets one to go off the pitch to Steve Smith and the batsman gets nowhere near it. Smith shrugs. He knows that was too good. England really need him to nick one of those.
Khawaja 33, Smith 5
The darkness is closing in a little but more because of cloud cover than anything else. England would love to skip on an hour into that twilight time. That's when the pink ball is supposed to do a bit.
Woakes corrects his line for the rest of the over but doesn't create anything. Jimmy Anderson is coming back. Will he continue the chirp to Steve Smith?
Sorry, Chris. That's not good enough. Stuart Broad is keeping it tight, creating drama at one end and Chris Woakes serves up Khawaja a ball on his pads. It's a simple flick down to fine leg for four.
Phil Tufnell
Ex-England spinner on BBC Test Match Special
Funky fields for Mr Smith! Why not? Stuart Broad just bowled him a leg-cutter and squared him right up. I'd be tempted to have a gully on this pitch. I think they handed the initiative back to Warner by putting someone back on the fence.
Khawaja 28, Smith 5
Less chirp this time from Broad to Smith but the England seamer is bowling well here. The final ball is a lovely length and Smith is just hanging on the crease and is squared up a little. The ball skews away along the ground but Broad still can take something from that.
