There was no control in that shot from Malan whatsoever. It's been thrilling, riveting cricket today.

I'd like to see how many balls have been short since the resumption after lunch. Dawid Malan miscues a hook - SIX!

Massive top edge. Hell take it. Mitchell Starc is not amused.

The only good thing about that decision from Aleem Dar is that he got it wrong quickly.

    Malan 25, Bairstow 4

Another false shot from Dawid Malan, who is swinging at every short ball now without much conviction. That's better, playing it down with soft hands and taking a single.

Hazlewood, Starc and Cummins have bowled brilliantly since lunch. What was on the menu?!

Jonny Bairstow is off the mark with a lovely punch down the ground, before he sways away from the inevitable bouncer.

Marc Gridley‏: Kasprowicz revenge. Although no DRS in 2005. Shocking decision. Dar is a liability now.

Alarm goes. Excited. Clatter of English wickets. Back to bed. Disappointed.

You can't really tell what that hit, where on Mark Stoneman. I just saw 15 replays of inconclusive evidence. England just have to accept the decision.

SHOT! Dawid Malan absolutely crashes one through the covers. Yes please. More of that.

What's a good score for England now?

Malan then takes on another pull shot and doesn't get hold of it, again it falls safe though. England need to try and get bat on ball but it's a risky game.

Harry Gasper‏: What just happened? Stoneman was not out! How can that be given? Noise came after ball passed front glove, may have hit back hand but not on handle. Not conclusive. DRS has to be questioned this series.

Niall‏: Whatever happened to conclusive evidence to overturn the on field umpire?!

We haven't seen this type of pitch here in Perth for a long time. It's great to see.

England were 91-2 at lunch. That seems a long time ago, Australia have bowled savagely since the restart.

A proper, intense going-over from the fast bowlers. Mark Stoneman batted heroically at times but he's out now.

Over to you Messrs Malan and Bairstow...

How is there conclusive evidence for that being out?? Seems like a very swift and hurried decision from Aleem Dar there. Benefit of the doubt for the batsman?

Pat Cummins keeps the short stuff coming, Dawid Malan plays a half hearted pull/hook and he nearly perishes. He doesn't get hold of it, nicking past the keeper and away for four.

Jonny Bairstow is batting at six for England, he won't have stepped into many more uncomfortable places in his life. Australia are dropping bombs out there.

Joe Root is still ticking on the balcony. He can't believe Mark Stoneman was given out.

  14. What have you missed?published at 06:10 Greenwich Mean Time 14 December 2017

Good morning! If you're just waking up, then I have mixed news for you.

England are 131-4 after winning the toss and opting to bat first. They lost Alastair Cook early for seven as he was trapped by Mitch Starc for the plumbest of plumb lbws.

Mark Stoneman in particular made hay, breezing boundaries off the quicks, before James Vince fell on the stroke of lunch as he edged Josh Hazlewood behind.

Joe Root looked busy but a tickle down the leg side ended his innings while Stoneman faced an absolute barrage from the Aussie quicks.

After being struck on the side of the head by a Hazlewood bouncer, and dropped twice on 52, Stoneman has been dismissed on 56, adjudged to have been caught behind after Australia reviewed. England aren't impressed.

The fact that we've looked at in in slow motion 15 times and we can't tell, yet he's overturned the decision on flimsy evidence at best... I don't think there's any way you can overturn the decision on that evidence.

The cameras are still reviewing and reviewing the incident but Mark Stoneman has been given out.

If that's hit the glove that's not on the bat, then it's not out. That's very interesting. I wonder what the ball actually hit.

That's controversial. There's no obvious nick, nothing on Hot Spot. Snicko has a faint edge but is it on the glove of Mark Stoneman which is off the bat? England think so but he's given! He has to go.

Joe Root and Paul Collingwood are not happy.

Beauty of a bouncer. A snorter. Has Mark Stoneman gloved that? Australia think so. Referred!
