I like the selection of Sam Curran - he's the type of bowler who can get England three quick wickets if it's swinging. Joe Root has got to get him in early if it's swinging. He's an asset when the ball is new and swinging but could struggle against Test players on a good pitch. He has to bowl early.

It feels like a fantastic day for batting. England are going to have to bowl well and take their chances. We haven't spoken about their fielding recently because the batting has been such a big issue, but their catching in the last 15 Tests has been atrocious.

England Joe's Root: "It looks a good surface. It's humid today so we might get swing and we have to use what we get with a fresh pitch. We were below par in the last Test and the fact the game has come around so quickly has helped us."

Confirmation of the teams - England make three changes from the side that lost at Lord's.

Sam Curran makes his debut in place of injured all-rounder Ben Stokes, Chris Woakes replaces Mark Wood and Keaton Jennings is in for Mark Stoneman.

Pakistan make one enforced change as Usman Salahuddin makes his debut in place of Babar Azam, who broke his wrist in the first Test.

Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed calls it right and elects to bat first.
