So for those not familiar with Sam Curran - he is indeed the younger brother of Tom Curran, who made his Test debut during the Ashes.

Sam is a left-armer though, with impressive ability to swing the ball into right-handed batsmen. Not express pace but no slouch either.

He didn't have the greatest season in the County Championship last year but has an overall record of 104 wickets in 38 first class games at an average of 30.44.

He's a decent batsman too, having made 10 first class fifties.

Perhaps a son of York could help England move on from their miserable winter though.

Wicketkeeper Jonny Bairstow also had a fitness test this morning but passed it and will be playing on his home ground.

And England will be without star all-rounder Ben Stokes in the second Test.

The 26-year-old has not come through a late fitness test on a hamstring injury.

Surrey left-arm bowler Sam Curran comes in to make his Test debut.

The 19-year-old has just been handed his cap by one-day batting coach Graham Thorpe.

England's winter of discontent shows no signs of becoming a glorious summer any time soon.

The hosts arrive at Headingley 1-0 down in the series after a chastening nine-wicket defeat inside four days by Pakistan at Lord's.

Joe Root's side need a win here to avoid a third consecutive Test series defeat.

A draw or win for Pakistan will see the tourists secure their first series victory in England for 22 years.
