  1. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 0.4 overs

    Roy b Agar 1 (Eng 2-1)

The plan works! Jason Roy hasn't always had the best times against left-arm spin and he has fallen on his sword here. In his eagerness to get after Ashton Agar, he runs down the pitch and plays a horrible swipe, gets nowhere near it and is castled.

If England show any sign of the sort of form they've had so far, they could make very short work of it. The two openers are going to come out and I can't see them having too much of a look. They know it's a good wicket and then spin is going to play a part.

Yep. It will be Ashton Agar to open the bowling. Australia come up with a cunning plan when they are 4-0 down...

Here come the Aussies. Wicketkeeper Tim Paine has a helmet on. Spin to start?

Moeen and Rashid have bamboozled Australia. The pitches haven't particularly turned for them.

Just a reminder, England's openers will currently be strapping the mums and dads on. There will be a lunch break at 14:30.

England's opening partnership have played incredibly well. They've set the tone; electric running between the wickets. They've been the platform for England's success in this tournament.

Harry Kane has almost burst the net. 2-0.

It wasn't impressive at all. There wasn't enough thought put into anything.

That total doesn't look as if it's going to be anywhere near enough.

  13. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 34.4 overs

Stanlake b Moeen 2 (Aus 205 all out)

Well, that was pretty rubbish. Australia are all out for 205, Billy Stanlake the last man to go. Shorter, quicker from Moeen Ali, Stanlake misses and loses his leg stump. That's four for Moeen. England will come out to bat right away, needing 206 for 5-0.

    I suspect there's a touch of sarcasm about that applause - for Australia's 200.

  15. Aus 200-9published at 34 overs

    Short 42, Stanlake 2

Stanlake actually measures up quite well against Adil Rashid. A little wristy, a nice push into the covers. A big cheer in Old Trafford when Short takes Australia to 200. It's flat though. As if the contest is already done, or if minds are elsewhere...

Peter Macqueen: Fondly remember missing an England World Cup qualifier to watch Essex absolutely mash Lancashire in a 45 over (!) day night match. Essex won, England lost 1-0 to Northern Ireland! Good choice, we won the totesport league.

  17. Aus 197-9published at 33 overs

Moeen Ali back into the attack, looking to add to his three wickets. Two left-handers for him to feat on here. Billy Stanlake is a huge man. Always curious to see very tall people padded up. It looks like the kit isn't big enough for them. Short fails to pinch the strike. Stanlake to face the music.

Franko: I used to play for a father & sons cricket team, down in Herne Bay. One game, England were kicking off at 3pm, our captain won toss and wanted to bat. 3 overs later, all out for 11 and the other team got the runs in one over. Cue F&Ss disappearing rather quickly..!

  19. Aus 193-9published at 32 overs

If Australia are all out before 14:00 local time, there will be a 10-minute interval and then England will bat until 14:30. I reckon England will try to get the match won by then...
