    Siddarth 0-36 from 6

England have the two highest ODI totals and they have both been at Trent Bridge. It's not going to be 481 today but Buttler is the ideal man to add a few in the closing stages. Nothing elaborate in the Siddarth over, however, just singles added.

Although one or two have kept low, this is a flat pitch and a big score is needed for England.

  3. Eng 179-4published at 34 overs

    Buttler 44, Stokes 34

Fluent stroke from Buttler, driving Yadav for his fifth boundary. England raced to 71 from the first 10 overs and these two have now added 74.

Ben Stokes is showing a bit more intent - he's trying to come down the wicket to Siddarth. He's found the fielders a lot today though. It's just not happening for him.

  5. Eng 172-4published at 33 overs

    Buttler 38, Stokes 33

India are going to keep three overs of Kuldeep up their sleeves and it is Siddarth, with his pink headband, that returns. He's in the early 80's mph and Buttler collects another two as he clips him off the pads down to backward square leg.

A fine sporting location, Nottingham. The City Ground separated from Notts County's Meadow Lane by the river. No football mentions today, sorry. Although the Isthmian League fixtures are out and I'm looking forward to Brightlingsea away in November. Bracing. Paceman Umesh Yadav is back in the attack and Buttler clips him for two as England look for a big finish.

    Trent Bridge

The point of this picture isn't the handsome new development at the Radcliffe Road End, but to illustrate how close the City Ground is to Trent Bridge. That floodlight, top right, is from Nottingham Forest's home. Basically across the road.

  9. Eng 162-4published at 31 overs

    Kuldeep 3-17 from 7

Kuldeep again, yet to be hit for a boundary and there have now been 27 dot balls in his first seven overs. The ropes here are 64 and 69 metres straight and 65 and 68 metres square of the wicket. No chance of finding them in this one, it's only singles again for England.

Jos Buttler has got to 27 without breaking sweat. He must be a joy to bat with because he always keeps the scoreboard ticking - he runs hard and brings positivity to the crease.

  11. Eng 158-4published at 30 overs

    Buttler 29, Stokes 28

Here's the wicket of Bairstow - the leading ODI runscorer this year. Kuldeep has them guessing, will it spin? will it spin in? will it spin away? Chahal relies more on deception in the flight and having gone for two boundaries in his last over, he restricts the England power duo to singles.

  12. Eng 154-4published at 29 overs

They're racing through the overs these India spinners, so that will good for the over rates in the Test series, which starts on 1 August. England may be content to see out Kuldeep with the minimum of risk and just a single is taken.

I was quite surprised at the toss that both teams would have bowled first because we have seen signs of spin and the likelihood is the pitch will deteriorate, get slower and spin more.

  14. Eng 153-4published at 28 overs

    Buttler 27, Stokes 25

Buttler presses the accelerator with sweetly-struck boundaries, a step to the leg-side and a beautiful free flowing swing of the bat over extra cover, followed by a crunching low drive into a similar region that goes through the fielder. Bowler Chahal is then felled by a throw from the infield as England take a quick single but in Chumbawamba manner he gets up again.

The need to sing Three Lions may have gone, but that doesn't mean that the crowd isn't vocal. The songs come from the India fans, mind. "Give me an 'I', give me an 'N', give me a 'D'". You get the idea. "Ind-i-a, Ind-i-a." One voice tries to sing "Eng-ger-land" to the same tune, but gets no traction.

  16. Eng 142-4published at 27 overs

    Kuldeep 3-12 from 5

It is to be the dangerman Kuldeep, who took a wicket with his second ball and had three to his name by the end of his second over. The sun breaks through again in Nottingham and England play out the over in respectful manner with another sprinkling of singles.

I'm surprised India didn't go straight to Kuldeep Yadav when Jos Buttler came to the crease. Buttler is key to this England team, he's in such good form.

  18. Eng 139-4published at 26 overs

    Stokes 21, Buttler 17

Thanks Amy, one of the main stats for England followers to take note of is that Kuldeep still has six overs left to bowl. For the moment it's Chahal, who ended Morgan's promising innings when a flighted delivery was caught at mid-wicket in the 20th over. England's two attacking players calmly rotate the strike with singles.

I'm just seeing if it's reverse swinging because the ball has beaten the bat on a few occasions and it is certainly very dry.

  20. Eng 134-4published at 25 overs

Another Hardik Pandya delivery beats Jos Buttler, the ball sneaking under the bottom of the bat and landing at around knee height for MS Dhoni. He'll have a sore back when this match is done.

Too full now, though, and Buttler responds by pushing the ball through extra cover for four.

This seems like an appropriate time for me to take my leave. Jamie Lillywhite will take you through the business end of the innings.
